    Oleksa Kovalenko and Maksym Rylskyi: A Discourse of Relationships

    Мета статті. На основі епістолярної спадщини висвітлити взаємини відомого в Наддніпрянській Україні літератора, перекладача, культурно-громадського діяча, лікаря за фахом О. Коваленка з видатним українським поетом, публіцистом, мовознавцем, літературознавцем, директором Інституту мистецтвознавства, фольклору та етнографії АН УРСР М. Рильським в історичному контексті 1940–1960‑х років. Методи. У статті застосовано історико-біографічний, проблемно-хронологічний, пропосографічний методи. Основні результати. Здійснено аналіз історіографії з окресленого питання, а також ми дійшли висновку, що воно й дотепер залишається не висвітленим у науковій літературі. Джерельна база дослідження ґрунтована на основі епістолярної спадщини, що зберігається в Інституті літератури НАН України. Переважну його частину було опубліковано в монографії «Зачарований Словом» Н. Буланової. Встановлено, що, починаючи з 1944 року, впродовж багатьох років існували постійні контакти між О. Коваленком і М. Рильським, в основі яких – обопільний інтерес до перекладання «Слова о полку Ігоревім». Практичне значення статті полягає в можливості використання результатів дослідження при розробці спецкурсів та у краєзнавчих навчальних проєктах. Наукова новизна полягає в постановці й розробленні актуальної для інтелектуальної біографістики проблеми взаємин творчих особистостей у контексті історичної епохи, яку в історичній науці на теперішній час усебічно й об’єктивно не розкрито. Під час дослідження розширено джерельну базу за рахунок залучення до наукового обігу епістолярної спадщини О. Коваленка і М. Рильського.The purpose of the article. Epistolary heritage is used as the base of the article. The mutual relations between a famous in the Dnieper Ukraine literary man, translator, cultural worker and public figure, doctor by profession O. Kovalenko and the prominent Ukrainian poet, publicist, linguist, literary critic, director of the AS of the Ukrainian SSR Institute of Art Studies, Folklore and Ethnography in the historical context of the 1940s – 1960s are described in the article. Methods. Historical-biographical, problematic, and chronological, proposographic methods are used in the article. The main results. The analysis of historiography on the considered issue is carried out. We have concluded that until now, the problem remains unexplored in the scientific literature. The research source of the investigation is based on the epistolary heritage, kept at the NAS of Ukraine Institute of Literature. Most of it has been published in N. Bulanova's monograph Fascinated with the Word. It has been ascertained that, starting from 1944, for many years, there have been constant contacts between O. Kovalenko and M. Rylskyi, based on a mutual interest in the translation of The Tale of Ihor’s Campaign. The practical value of the article lies in the possibility of using the results of the research in the development of special courses and also in the local history educational projects. The scientific novelty is in raising and working out the problem relevant to intellectual biography studies. It is the relationships of creative personalities in the context of a historical epoch which has not been described comprehensively and objectively in historical science yet.     У даній статті автор зробив спробу роз’яснити деякі факти з біографії «патріарха Київської археології» та уродженця Путивльської землі – Максима Федоровича Берлинського. Головну увагу зосереджено на початковому етапі життя вченого, а саме простежено його стосунки з Новою Слободою, де його батько був парафіяльним священником. Проведено уточнення складу родини Берлинських, зроблено спробу встановити, де саме був їхній будинок і де народився майбутній дослідник. Зазначено, які реліквії, пов’язані з родиною вченого, вцілілі до нашого часу.In this article, the author made an attempt to clarify some facts from the biography of the «patriarch of Kyiv archaeology» and a native of the Putivl region – Maksym Fedorovych Berlinskyi. The main focus is on the initial stage of the scientist’s life, namely his relationship with Nova Sloboda, where his father was a parish priest. The composition of the Berlinskyi family was clarified, an attempt was made to establish where their house was and where the future researcher was born. The names of the historian’s parents, as well as grandparents, have been established and clarified. The main milestones in the church history of Nova Sloboda are partly revealed. For the first time, a photograph of the St. Michael’s Church of 1786, built by the father of Maksym Berlinskyi, is published. The article indicates which relics related to the scientist’s family have survived to our time

    Crystal Structure, Morphology, and Surface Termination of Cyan-Emissive, Six-Monolayers-Thick CsPbBr3 Nanoplatelets from X-ray Total Scattering

    Highly anisotropic colloidal CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) represent an appealing class of colloidal quantum wells with enhanced light emissivity. Strong quantum confinement imposed by the small platelet thickness and atomic flatness gives rise to enhanced oscillator strength, higher exciton binding energy, and narrow emission linewidth. While discrete thicknesses manifest themselves in discrete bandgap energies, fine-tuning of the emission energy can be achieved by compositional modulations. Here we address one of the most debated aspects of perovskite nanoplatelets: their crystal structure. Starting with the direct imaging by high-resolution electron microscopy (providing a clue on the pseudocubic faceting of the NPLs), we focus the study on X-ray total scattering techniques, based on the Debye scattering equation (DSE) approach, to obtain better atomistic insight. The nanoplatelets are six-monolayers thick and exhibit an orthorhombic structure. A thorough structure-morphology characterization unveils a specific orientation of the axial and equatorial bromides of the PbBr6 octahedra versus the NPLs thickness; we found that {010} and {101} planes of the orthorhombic CsPbBr3 lattice (Pnma space group) correspond to the six facets of the NPL, with basal planes being of {101} type. The NPLs undergo a lattice relaxation in comparison to cuboidal CsPbBr3 NCs; the major deformation is observed in the axial direction, which suggests a structural origin of the higher compliance along the b axis. The DSE-based analysis also supports a CsBr surface termination model, with half Cs sites and a half (or slightly more) Br sites vacant

    Monodisperse Formamidinium Lead Bromide Nanocrystals with Bright and Stable Green Photoluminescence

    Bright green emitters with adjustable photoluminescence (PL) maxima in the range of 530-535 nm and full-width at half-maxima (FWHM) of 25 nm are particularly desirable for applications in television displays and related technologies. Towards this goal, we have developed a facile synthesis of highly monodisperse, cubic-shaped formamidinium lead bromide nanocrystals (FAPbBr3 NCs) with perovskite crystal structure, tunable PL in the range of 470-540 nm by adjusting the nanocrystal size (5-12 nm), high quantum yield (QY) of up to 85% and PL FWHM of 22 nm. High QYs are also retained in films of FAPbBr3 NCs. In addition, these films exhibit low thresholds of 142 μJ cm-2 for amplified spontaneous emission

    Temperature Dependence of the Amplified Spontaneous Emission from CsPbBr3 Nanocrystal Thin Films

    Cesius lead halide perovskite colloidal nanocrystals are among the most promising perovskite systems for light-emitting devices applications due to their high fluorescence quantum yield and high optical gain at room temperature. In this letter, we report on the first investigation of temperature dependence of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) properties of thin films of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals. We demonstrate that ASE is strongly temperature-dependent, with a complex variation in temperature of the ASE intensity, threshold, and peak wavelength. The joint investigation of the photoluminescence (PL) spectra below and above the ASE threshold allows us to conclude that the temperature increase results in the formation of disordered subdomains emitting in the low-energy tail of the PL spectra, leading to the existence of three emission regimes with transitions at about 90 and 170 K, with individually different temperature dependences
