No full text
Aims and Objectives To evaluate the effectiveness of cold application methods in reducing postpartum episiotomy pain. Background Many women suffer from pain after giving birth due to an episiotomy. This prolonged pain affects their daily lives as they recover. Various methods can help alleviate this pain; however, the effects of cold application specifically are still under discussion. Design Systematic review and meta-analysis were used. Methods In this review, we investigated studies from the CINAHL, PubMed, Google Scholar and Science Direct databases that met PICOS inclusion criteria. We also assessed the studies' methodological quality with the JADAD and JBI checklists. This study was performed based on the Guidelines of Systematic Reporting of Examination presented in the PRISMA checklist (Appendix S1). The search protocol has been registered at the PROSPERO International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews. Results A total of seven published studies including 700 total participants were included in this review. Various cold application methods (cold gel pack/pad, crushed ice gel pad, ice pack) significantly reduced the pain after an episiotomy. Ice packs in particular did not significantly differ from lavender oil and acupressure in reducing pain after an episiotomy. Conclusions Cold application methods can be an effective, non-pharmacological midwifery and nursing intervention to reduce pain after an episiotomy. Relevance to clinical practice The use of cold application methods to reduce pain after episiotomy may reduce the need for pharmacological medication in women due to the reduction in pain in the perineum

Anahtar Sözcükler: Mektup hikâye, Mehmet Vecihi, Sevda-yı Masumane, Yapı ve İzlekThe emergence of literary texts in different forms enables the expansion of the fields of discourse and the creation of feelings and thoughts with different forms. A wide variety of literary genres help artists to position all living and non-living beings in the universe. The letter type and technique, which is seen as a tool, adds another dimension to the forms of expression. The first modern examples of the letter-story in Turkish literature are seen in the Tanzimat period and they survive in prose type texts both in a holistic structure and independently in the text. Mehmet Vecihi, one of the writers of the Servet-i Fünun period with his work called Sevda-yı Masumane, which is written in the form of a letter-story, is one of the well-known artists of his era with his stories and novels. Despite the quantitative excess of the works produced by the author, they are not known today because not transferred to Latin letters. Therefore, it is important to transfer the story of Sevda-yı Masumane, which is one of the works of Mehmet Vecihi, into contemporary Turkish literature, to determine its place in the world of literature and to trace the literary aspect of the author. This study aims to unearth the work called Sevda-yı Masumane, which is considered as a reason for preference in the field of Turkish literature, since it has never been emphasized before, and to be a source for future studies by examining it on the basis of structure-theme. Key Word: Letter Story, Mehmet Vecihi, Sevda-yı Masumane, Structure and Them

Hayatın her anını kapsayan her durum türkülerde yer alır. Folk songs are a type of music that is written with syllabic meter and played and sung with folk melodies, describing the emotions and situations of the people. Many different topics such as love, infatuation, separation, death, homelessness, illness, heroism are covered in folk songs. The folk songs determined for this purpose were examined in alphabetical order. According to the determined folk songs methods; “kırık hava” and “uzun hava” songs were separated and tables were prepared. In the tables, the repertoire number, the date of examination and compilation, the region, the source person, the compiler and the note taker are given for each folk song. After this classification work, the folk songs were handled one by one with their words, and the context and meaning of the expression "körpe" in the folk song was evaluated

No full text
Background: The enduring impact of children being subjected to sexual abuse is characterized by lasting traumatic effects. Aims: This study aims to assess the influence of perceived parental attitudes on the incidence of sexual abuse in children who have experienced such abuse, comparing them with a control group. Methods: The research took place at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of a hospital in northern Turkey and in the pediatric outpatient clinics of the same institution. The study evaluated 101 children who were exposed to sexual abuse and 100 children who were not. Data collection took place between November 2022 and August 2023. The study employed a ‘Descriptive Information Form’ and the ‘Parental Attitude Scale’ for both case and control groups. The t-test for independent samples, descriptive statistics, and logistic regression analysis were used for data analysis. Results: Analysis of scores from the Parental Attitude Scale revealed significantly lower mean scores in acceptance-involvement and strictness-supervision in the case group (p <.05). The mean scores for ‘acceptance-involvement’ (X¯ = 22.82 ± 6.26, X¯ = 25.71 ± 3.89) were highest in the case and control groups. Neglectful attitude (38.6%) was more prevalent in the case group, while the control group exhibited a higher frequency of democratic attitude (37%). In terms of predictors, acceptance-involvement (OR = 1.091, p =.005) and maternal employment (OR = 4.410, p <.001) were identified as the most significant predictors of exposed to sexual abuse. The study’s Cronbach’s alpha value for the scale was α =.743. Conclusion: The study’s findings on parental attitudes suggest a potential connection between children’s exposure to sexual abuse and inadequate parental acceptance, involvement, supervision, and control. © The Author(s) 2024
