    Distribution mapping of Koak kaok (Philemon buceroides) in the edge forest of Gunung Rinjani National Park, Lombok, Indonesia

    Philemon buceroides (Lombok: koak kaok) is a Wallacea endemic bird found in Lombok. In 1980s, koak kaok was widely distributed in all areas of Lombok. Because of hunting to keep as pet, koak kaok is rarely found in Lombok nowadays. The aim of this study is to obtain the distribution map of koak kaok in the edge forest of Gunung Rinjani National Park, so that this site could be managed as a conservation area to conserve koak kaok in Lombok. Two methods (interview and observation) were used in this study. Interview was directed to the people living around the forest, and then followed by field observation. Forest areas where koak kaok could be found were marked using Global Positioning System (GPS). Data from the GPS were processed using MapSource, ArcView GIS and AutoCAD in order to obtain the distribution map of koak kaok in Lombok. Based on the interview there were 15 areas that contained koak kaok, whereas from field observation there were only eight areas where koak kaok could be found. As koak kaok rearing is still a problem, it is advocated that the only way to conserve it in Lombok is to gazette the edge forest of Gunung Rinjani National Park into a conservation area

    Structural case assignment in Korean

    In this dissertation, I aim to provide a theory on the distribution of structural Case in Korean. I propose the following Structural Case Assignment Hypothesis (SCAH) regarding the assignment of structural Case: "Structural Case is assigned by phase heads (C: nominative; v: accusative) to every argument in the c-command domain of the phase head at the completion of each strong phase." Based on this hypothesis, I provide an analysis on the distribution of structural Case in the following three constructions in Korean: passive constructions, Double Nominative Constructions and the ECM construction. There are several notable properties in the above constructions. First, in the passive construction of the DOC, the theme argument is marked with nominative case, while it is marked with accusative case in English counterpart. Also in the Possessor Raising Construction (PRC), the second accusative DP can be marked with either nominative or accusative case in the passive construction of the PRC. I propose that this nominative-accusative alternation results from the different order in the application of Possessor Raising and A-movement. Secondly, with respect to the DNC, I show that there are two kinds of DNCs. In one type, the predicates are one-place intransitive predicates. In the other type, the predicates are two-place psychological state verbs. Regarding the second type of DNC, I propose that the projection of the light verb which assigns accusative Case is dependent on the existence of an external argument. Lastly in the ECM construction, I show that the ECM construction has a finite embedded CP and places some semantic restriction on the embedded predicate. For the ECM construction, I propose that the embedded subject moves to [Spec, CP] and is assigned a [+Prominence] feature. Then, the embedded subject is assigned accusative Case at [Spec, CP] by the matrix v. Also by being assigned a [+Prominence] feature, the embedded subject requires the predicate to denote an inherent or permanent property of it. To conclude, in this dissertation I consider the exceptional distribution of structural Case in various constructions in Korean and show that SCAH can successfully explain it.Ph.     Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di wilayah Dusun Jurang Koak Desa Bebidas Kecamatan Wanasaba Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola pengelolaan Tanah Adat Jurang Koak Desa Bebidas Kecamatan Wanasaba kabupaten Lombok Timur. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti mengambil sejumlah informan kunci untuk diwawancarai dengan penarikan sampel didasarkan teknik snowball sampling. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Triangulasi sumber adalah menguji kredibilitas data yang dilakukan dengan cara mengecek data yang telah di peroleh melalui beberapa sumber. Triangulasi sumber akan dilakukan pada pihak pengelola taman nasional gunung rinjani, dibalai taman nasional gunung rinjani dan masyarakat yang mengelola Tanah Adat Jurang Koak. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam pengolahan data dengan mengorganisasikan data ke dalam kategori, menjabarkan ke dalam unit-unit melakukan sintesa, memilih mana yang penting dan yang akan di pelajari dan membuat kesimpulan sehingga mudah di pahami oleh diri sendiri maupun orang lain. Analisis data akan di bantu dengan statistik deskriftif. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan di Tanah Adat Jurang Koak di kawasan Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani Desa Bebidas Kecamatan Wanasaba dapat ditarik kesimpulan, bahwa pola pengelolaan Tanah Adat Jurang Koak di kawasan Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani Desa Bebidas Kecamatan Wanasaba tidak mempengaruhi lingkungan hidup dan kawasan hutan konservasi. Hal ini dilihat dari pola pengelolaan yang secara kolektif, sarana prasarana yang memadai, dan hasil produksi yang memuaskan. Dan kalau kita lihat dari dampak kepada alam itu sendiri atau hutan itu sendiri tidak terlihat dampak negatif sedikitpun. Karna para petani di Tanah Adat Jurang Koak menanam tanaman agroforestri

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Investigation of the marginal fit of a 3D-printed three-unit resin prosthesis with different build orientations and layer thicknesses

    PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the marginal fit of three-unit resin prostheses printed with the stereolithography (SLA) method in two build orientations (45°, 60°) and two layer thicknesses (50 µm, 100 µm). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A master model for a three-unit resin prosthesis was designed with two implant abutments. Forty specimens were printed using an SLA 3D printer. The specimens were printed with two build orientations (45°, 60°), and each orientation was printed with two layer thicknesses (50 µm, 100 µm). The marginal fit was measured as the marginal gap (MG) and absolute marginal discrepancy (AMD), and MG and AMD measurements were performed at 8 points per abutment, for 16 points per specimen. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software. Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was separately performed on the MG and AMD values of the build orientations and layer thicknesses. Moreover, one-way ANOVA was performed for each point within each group. RESULTS: The margins of the area adjacent to the pontic showed significantly high values, and the values were smaller when the build orientation was 45° than when it was 60°. However, the margin did not differ significantly according to the layer thicknesses. CONCLUSION: The marginal fit of the three-unit resin prosthesis fabricated by the SLA 3D method was affected by the pontic. Moreover, the marginal fit was affected by the build orientation. The 45° build orientation is recommended

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
