Simulating Modifications to the P42 Beamline for the KLEVER Experiment

    No full text
This project studied modifications to the KLEVER beamline. KLEVER is an experiment proposed to measure the branching ratio of the ultra rare kaon decay of KLπ0ννˉK_L \rightarrow \pi^0\nu\bar{\nu}. The production angle of the P42 beamline on the T10 target is designed to be a downward vertical angle of 8 mrad for KLEVER in order to suppress the experiment’s background. This project modified the current P42 to beamline and simulated these modifications in order to achieve this desired production angle. TRANSPORT and BEATCH were used for these simulations, and two solutions were found. For each solution, TRANSPORT and BEATCH output and input files were created as well as BeamOpt drawings. These results will be integrated into the report of the PBC Conventional Beams working group to the Physics Beyond Colliders study that also serves as input to the European Strategy Group
