Analysis and improvement of social media marketing for Ilona Pelli Oy
This thesis was commissioned by Ilona Pelli Oy, a Finnish clothing brand which has been a part of fashion design in Finland for many years. The company’s social media presence needed updating and, with that, gain needed publicity, new customers and sales. The company made limited use of its existing social media platforms and has had no proper content plan nor marketing plan. The objective of this thesis is to analyse the company’s current social media platforms and make an improvement plan. The plan will ultimately work as a guideline for the company to upgrade its social media presence in order to attain the required improvement in sales.
When working on the thesis the author gained knowledge of how social media works as a marketing platform. Understanding social media in general as well as its benefits and opportunities for business purposes was needed. Primary data, meaning the company’s personal social media analytics and custom data, was collected from the platforms Facebook and Instagram. The analytics were compared against those of its competitors. The improvement plan was curated by using framework that supported the creation of marketing strategies.
Based on the results, the author found out the importance of having knowledge of the company's potential customers. When marketing online, customer segmentation and specific demographics are crucial in order to market content to a targeted segment. The importance of authentic content and frequency of being active online is of great importance to keep followers and potential customers interested and committed to the company online. The analysis shed light on the fact that the company needs a working online sales platform and that it should also have a website that works in alignment with its social media marketing.
Problems regarding social media and the commission company is a lack of knowledge and the inability to use the platforms efficiently in order to obtain all possible benefits for the company. These problems could be tackled with a comprehensive social media plan drawn up and, once this is installed, having someone implement, monitor and update the platforms regularly, in accordance with the plan

Works of Ilona Leimane in the context of folklore and latvian literature of the 1940s
Pagājuši 35 gadi kopš rakstnieces Ilonas Leimanes nāves. Viņas atstātais literārais mantojums ir maz pētīta, taču nozīmīga latviešu literatūras vēstures daļa. Lai novērtētu Ilonas Leimanes nozīmi 1940. gadu latviešu literatūras kopainā, pētījuma fokusā ir izvirzīta viņas daiļrades raksturīgāko pazīmju analīze, kā arī sniegts analītisks ieskats citu tā laika rakstnieku literārajā devumā. Pētījuma uzdevumi aptver Ilonas Leimanes dzīves gājuma un literārās darbības pētniecību, Ilonas Leimanes daiļradei raksturīgo komponentu (folkloras motīvu, vecvārdu, apvidvārdu) analīzi viņas 1940. gadu romānos, Ilonas Leimanes literārā pienesuma salīdzināšanu ar citu latviešu autoru darbiem, radītiem 1940. gados. Pētījuma gaitā secināts, ka Ilonas Leimanes personība un literārais mantojums ir nozīmīga latviešu literatūras daļa, kas mūsdienu sabiedrībā funkcionē gan kā vēstures, gan latviešu valodas bagātības liecība.It has been 35 years since writer's Ilona Leimane death. The literary legacy she left behind is almost unexplored, but important part of the history of Latvian literature. To valuate the importance of Ilona Leimane in the Latvian literature of the 1940s, the study focuses on the analysis of the features of her work, as well as the description of the literary contribution of other writers of that time. Research tasks include the study of Ilona Leimanes' life and literary activity; analysis of the components (folkloric motifs, archaic words, locality words) in her novels of the 1940s; comparison of the literary contribution of Ilona Leimanes with the works of other Latvian authors, created in the 1940s. Author of the research concludes that the personality and literary heritage of Ilona Leimane is an important part of Latvian literature, which functions in modern society as a testimony of history and the richness of the Latvian language
Thermal desorption studies of volatiles released during heating of food oils
Lipid degradation occurs extensively during deep fat frying, and controlling it is a great challenge, at least in part because the reaction mechanisms responsible remain controversial. With current trends towards increasing unsaturated fats in frying oils, a more complete understanding of these pathways becomes critical. To gain more detailed information about reactions involved in thermal decomposition kinetics and products of frying oils, corn oil/ high oleic sunflower oil blends (fresh, stripped, and steady-state) were heated at 180°C for three hours in an OxipresTM oxygen bomb under 2 bars air pressure. Upon release of pressure, the headspace was vented through a Tenax-Carboxen thermal desorption trap to trap volatiles which were then identified and quantitated by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Volatile levels and distributions were integrated with oxygen consumption and non-volatile product data from another study to assess relative contributions of thermal scission and autoxidation reaction mechanisms in overall degradation. Effects of catalytic factors on oil degradation were evaluated by adding metals, phospholipids, fatty acids, and water to the oil blends during heating. Fresh, stripped, and steady-state oils all generated comparable volatile products, but with differing concentrations and distributions. The main peaks coeluting isopentane/ pentane octane/ hexanal > pentanal/heptanes. Peak analyses revealed homologous series of alkanes, aldehydes, alkenes, ketones, cycloalkanes, and furans were also present. Levels of products generally decreased with chain length. No 2,4-decadienal was detected. This product pattern and the kinetics of evolution of different products provides strong support for thermal scission as the dominant degradation mechanism that occurs first to generate scission radicals that yield alkanes directly or oxidize to hydroperoxides, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids. Secondary reactions then initiate autoxidation chains. Factors known to have strong effects on lipid oxidation at room temperature appear to influence product distribution rather than degradation kinetics in heated oils. Integration of volatiles and non-volatiles data with oxygen consumption suggests there are pathways active in thermal degradation that are not being accounted for in current analyses, and these need to be elucidated to fully understand how various factors influence oil degradation as well as to learn how to improve frying oil stabilization.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Ilona Repko Reade

Pētnieciskā darba mērķis: teorētiski izzināt un praktiski izpētīt pirkstiņu rotaļu nozīmi 2 līdz 3.gadus vecu bērnu runas veicināšanai pirmsskolā. Darba teorētisko daļas pirmo daļu veido dažādu darba autoru atziņas literatūrā, par runas attīstību. Teorētiski analizēta bērnu aktivitāte rotaļās, to nozīme bērnu runas attīstībā. Otrajā daļā tiek skaidrots pirkstiņu rotaļu jēdziens un to izmantošana un nozīme pirmsskolā. Empīriska pētījuma daļā tiek praktiski pielietotas un pārbaudītas teorētiskās atziņas. Darbā tiek pētītas 2-3 gadus vecu bērnu runas prasmes. Tiek pētīta 2 - 3 gadus vecu bērnu pirkstu darbība, izmantojot pirkstiņu rotaļas, kas veicina skaņu izrunu. Pētījums veikts novērojot katru bērnu individuāli, kā arī analizēts pedagogu viedoklis. Kvalifikācijas darba apjoms: 61 lappuses, 13 attēli, 3 tabulas, 3 pielikumi. Darbā izmantoti 45 literatūras avoti. Pētījumā piedalījās: 14 bērni : vecumā 2-3 gadus veci, 8 pirmsskolas skolotāji. “Here nothing is mine / and all is mine”: Invisible Inhabitants of the City in Ilona Witkowska’s Poems
The aim of the article is to present the human and non-human relations of the city’s inhabitants in the poetry of Ilona Witkowska. The author, using the perspective of interdisciplinary HAS (Human-Animal Studies) research, analyses individual works included in the collections of poems Splendida realta (2012) and Lucifer wins (2017), showing the links between Witkowska’s politically engaged poetry and selected threads of contemporary biopolitical thought. The author tries to show places in Witkowska’s reflection on the relationship of people and animals in urban space which can be connected with the animal turn in the humanities and political philosophy
Techniques to develop reading skills in the oldest preschool age
Kvalifikācijas darbs “Lasītprasmi veicinoši paņēmieni vecākajā pirmsskolas vecumposmā”. Autore Ilona Mežviete. Darba mērķis ir teorētiski noskaidrot un pārbaudīt praksē pedagoģiskos paņēmienus, kas izmantojami vecākā pirmsskolas vecumposma bērnu lasītmācības procesā. Darba pirmajā daļā analizētas dažādu psihologu un pedagogu izvirzītās lasīprasmes teorijas, noskaidroti dažādi definējumi, aprakstīti faktori, kas ietekmē lasītprasmes apguvi, noskaidrots vēlamais vecumposms, kad uzsākama lasītmācīšana. Darba otrajā daļā aprakstītas metodes, kādas pielietojamas lasītmācībai vecākajā pirmsskoals vecumposmā, noskaidrotas Izglītības un zinātnes ministrijas (turpmāk- IZM) izvirzītās prasības bērnu lasītprasmes līmenim vecākajā pirmsskolas vecumposmā un kritēriji, pēc kādiem izvērtēt bērnu lasītprasmes līmeni. Trešajā daļā, izmantojot teorētiskajā daļā izvirzītās metodes, īstenots pētījums X skolas vecākā pirmsskolas vecuma grupās, pilnveidojot bērnu lasītprasmi, izvērtējot viņu prasmes, izpētot viņu rakstura īpašības un novērtējot vecāku ieguldīto darbu. Apkopotas dažādas rotaļas un paņēmieni, kurus izmantojot, veicināt bērnu lasītprasmi. The aim of this qualification work is to theoretically explore and test in practice techniques and methods that can be used to develop reading skills in the oldest preschool age. In the first part of this work the author has analyzed several theories developed by psychologists and educators as well as described various definitions and factors that affect development of reading skills. This work includes information about recommended age when to start reading. In the second part of this work author has described methods that could be used during the oldest preschool age. This part also includes information about reading skill requirements and evaluation criteria set by Ministry of Education and Science. Third part of this work describes study implemented in school “X” for the oldest preschool children. The study includes methods that are described in the theoretical part of this work. Study has shown positive impact towards children reading skill development. During the study author evaluated reading skills, explored children character and measured the involvement of parents. In this part of the qualification work author has gathered various games and methods that can be used to develop reading skills. Qualification work consists from annotation in Latvian and English, introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and proposals, list of used literature and attachments. Qualification work is written on 71 pages, including 17 graphs, 2 tables and attachments. List of used literature includes 27 publications
Specific characters of nursing for patients with subdermic port catheter
Darba autore Ilona Gribuste studē LU Medicīnas fakultātes Veselības zinātņu bakalaura Māszinību programmā. Darba tēma: „Aprūpes īpatnības pacientiem ar porta katetru”. Darba mērķis: apzināt un analizēt māsu teorētisko un praktisko zināšanu līmeni par intravenozā porta katetra aprūpi. Darbā analizēta pieejamā informācija par pacientu aprūpi ar intravenozo porta katetru, kā arī veikts pētījums par māsu teorētisko sagatavotību darbam ar porta katetru.
Hipotēze: māsām, kas aprūpē onkoloģiskos pacientus ar intravenozo porta katetru, ir nepietiekošas teorētiskās un praktiskās zināšanas par porta katetra aprūpes īpatnībām.
Bakalaura darbs sastāv no teorētiskās daļas, pētnieciskās daļas, 14 diagrammām, 7 pielikumiem, 1 tabula, 3 attēli un informatīvo materiālu pacientiem par porta katetru.
Darbā izmantoti 28 literatūras avoti, no tiem 5 avoti angļu valodā, 1 krievu valodā, 1 vācu valodā, 1 poļu valodā un 20 latviešu valodā.

This paper analyzes information on looking after patients with port catheter and reviews research on nurse’s theoretical qualification about working with port catheter in one of the biggest hospitals in Riga.
Hypothesis: Nurses, who take care of patients with port catheter, has not enough theoretical and practical knowledge about using and caretaking process of the port catheter.
The bachelor’s paper consists of theoretical part, research part, which includes 14 diagrams, and 7 supplements, which contain 1 table, 3 images and information for the patients about port catheter.
In writing this paper the author used 28 different literary sources, 5 of which were in English, 1 in Russian, 1 in German, 1 in Polish and 20 in Latvian.
