Optical properties of ZnS and effect of doping with transition elements
By the help of density functional theory for a Cu doped ZnS compound the charge density,
Fermi surface and electronic structure have been examined. We have used (FP-LAPW)
method, to deal with interchange relationship potential for solving of kohn-sham equations.
We apply generalized gradient approximation (GGA), local density approximation (LDA)
and Engel-Vosko GGA (EVGGA). Cu doped ZnS compound confirms that nature of
material is metallic and Fermi energy (EF) is obtained by the overlapping of Cu-p and Zn-
d state. At Fermi energy (EF) calculated density of states is 51.932, 18.655 and 13.235
states/ev, and low-temperature electronic specific heat co-efficient (γ) is found to be
9.008mJ/mol-K2 for GGA, 3.236mJ/mol-K2 for LDA, and it was 2.295mJ/mol-K2 for
EVGGA respectively. The thermal properties and optical constant were also discussed and
calculated

A Postcolonial Reading of Kiran Desai's The Inheritance of Loss
The present paper discusses both the themes of colonial mentality in India as well as the American Dream in Kiran Desai's novel The Inheritance of Loss. The aim of this paper is to explore the effects and changes that happened in India in the British colonization of India. The themes of the American Dream, colonialism, race and class will be sketched out through the image of migration and multiculturalism in a postcolonial setting. Also, much attention is paid to such issues as the questions of discrimination and oppression, which are inevitably related to all of the aforementioned themes. Chapter I discusses Judge Jemubhi’s colonial mentality and his attachment to the west and the causes that led him to this situation. Chapter II focuses on Biju’s American Dream and his immigration experience where he faces racism and discrimination because of his eastern origin, and how he react to these issues different then the Judge did. The objective of the study is threefold. First, it aims at validating the existence of the identity problems in relation to colonialism. Second, it raises awareness and draws people’s attention towards the identity crisis in modern societies. Third, writing about such issues stands as a motivation for whoever fails to pay attention to the extent of the dilemma. However, this paper was meant to be a wakeup call for anyone who considers moving to the west. It aims to discover the proper means and solutions that would eliminate the effects of the identity dilemma to help the people under discussion realize the importance of creating a balance between their multiple identities

Development of Postal System in Colonial Punjab and Evolution of Muslim Nationalism
This study assesses the development of postal system in colonial Punjab and explores the role of modernized postal system in the spread of nationalist sentiments among Muslims of the province. The paper seeks what measures were taken to modernize communication network in the province? how had the same system served the interests of the British Empire? And then how, on later stage, it had been proved beneficial for the Muslims of Punjab to use it for their political objectives? The study explores that due to the control on communication networks and information-exchange, the British dominated the Indian subcontinent. The colonial masters had not only imported the scientifically developed system but also subordinated the local communication networks. While the British aimed to use the postal system to solidify their control, this system ultimately contributed to the rise of Muslim nationalism and encouraged sentiments of independence among the masses. This study shows the dual role of postal system in strengthening both the oppression and the sentiments of liberation. The paper has been produced on the basis of primary source material which includes the Punjab Administrative Reports, published by British government as well as the statements of officials and the Indian Post and Telegraphic Acts available in the Punjab Archive, Lahore. The newspapers, books and research articles are other important source material

Appropriate Use of Oxygen Delivery Devices
Oxygen supplementation is one of the commonest drugs required for a patient in hospital. Appropriate oxygen supplementation as per the requirement of the patient is essential. This requires optimal oxygen delivery device from the vast armamentarium. This requires understanding basics of oxygen delivery devices and its appropriate selection. This review describes various commonly available devices. The author would also propose a chart for aiding oxygen delivery devices based on the existing literature.</jats:p
Selective Menin Deletion in the Hippocampal CA1 Region Leads to Disruption of Contextual Memory in the <i>MEN1</i> Conditional Knockout Mouse: Behavioral Restoration and Gain of Function following the Reintroduction of <i>MEN1</i> Gene
Cholinergic neuronal networks in the hippocampus play a key role in the regulation of learning and memory in mammals. Perturbations of these networks, in turn, underlie neurodegenerative diseases. However, the mechanisms remain largely undefined. We have recently demonstrated that an in vitro MEN1 gene deletion perturbs nicotinic cholinergic plasticity at the hippocampal glutamatergic synapses. Furthermore, MEN1 neuronal conditional knockout in freely behaving animals has also been shown to result in learning and memory deficits, though the evidence remains equivocal. In this study, using an AVV viral vector transcription approach, we provide direct evidence that MEN1 gene deletion in the CA1 region of the hippocampus indeed leads to contextual fear conditioning deficits in conditional knockout animals. This loss of function was, however, recovered when the same animals were re-injected to overexpress MEN1. This study provides the first direct evidence for the sufficiency and necessity of MEN1 in fear conditioning, and further endorses the role of menin in the regulation of cholinergic synaptic machinery in the hippocampus. These data underscore the importance of further exploring and revisiting the cholinergic hypothesis that underlies neurodegenerative diseases that affect learning and memory
