Intelligent Underwater Object Detection and Image Restoration for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
[EN] Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) have been reliable and economical technological solutions to perform undersea monitoring tasks in comparison to manned vehicles. However, in many situations, UUV is unable to fulfill complex undersea research tasks since target objects appear distorted due to light absorption and scattering. Besides, ocean surveying undergoes severe power requirements compared to terrestrial systems because of battery-driven low-storage vehicles like Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs). Therefore, limited power supply, motion resistance of water medium, and distorted target object appearance can delay the mission and reduce the efficiency of UUV in their underwater operations. Considering the resource-constrained undersea monitoring setup, we propose an intelligent two-stage framework for expeditious monitoring of underwater scenes. First, an effective deep neural network is employed for underwater object/region of interest (ROI) detection. Then the detected ROI is restored using an efficient restoration method, thereby improving the visual quality of the degraded images and aiding the navigating and monitoring tasks of UUVs. Our method has been objectively and subjectively assessed using 9 evaluation metrics and our key results reveal mAP of 94.35% and an Underwater Color Image Quality Evaluation (UCIQE) score of 3.09, surpassing state-of-the-art methods for object detection. Furthermore, the execution time of 0.550 secs is required for object detection and dehazing, making this proposal suitable for UUVs to perform automatic undersea object detection and dehazing within operational running requirements. This work was supported in part by the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology, funded by the Indian Government through Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI) scheme under Grant DST/TDT/SHRI-33/2018. ضلع ڈیرہ غازی خان کی بیوہ خواتین کے حقوق و فرائض کا اسلامی تعلیمات کی روشنی میں تحقیقاتی مطالعہ: A research study of the rights and duties of widows of Dera Ghazi Khan District in the light of Islamic teachings
After the creation of universe, Allah almighty has fixed and explained clearly the rights and duties of men and women. It is necessary to follow the rules fixed by Allah Almighty. In the same way, Islam has given a woman a place of honor and respect in the society. Beside the rights given to woman Islam has also imposed some responsibilities on her. Therefore, it is obligatory for a woman to fulfill these responsibilities. A woman may fulfill these responsibilities as a mother, sister, and wife and as a daughter. If a woman does not perform these rights and duties while living in a Muslim society, this act will not only effect on her but also the whole society. Islam has given equal rights to men as well as woman if a man is given external rule; the woman is not only the caretaker of the house, but also the guardian and caretaker of the house internally. In this article, the rights and duties of widows in Dera Ghazi Khan are examined in the light of Islamic perspectives
د باچا خان او نېلسن منډېلا تقابلي جائزه
Khan Abdul Ghafar khan (1890-1988) popularly known as Bacha khan was a pakhtoon nationalist leader. While Nalson Mandela (1918-2013) was nationalist leader of south Africa. Both the great leaders were the heads of political movements of the same nature in the same century. Bacha khan fought the British imperialism for the freedom of his nation and led his nation through Khudayi Khidmatgar movement and forced the occupying force to leave the subcontinent. Nelson Mandela forced the white skinned minority to transfer powers to black south Africans. Both the leaders spent more than 30 years in prison, but didn't back down from their motto.
In this paper we will present a comparative analysis of the two great leaders, so that it becomes clear which ones have uniformity in holding and which ones differ each other in which point

Based on the findings, it was recommended that teachers be properly trained in these instructional practices, provide learning resources to schools to support the special needs of diverse students, and the policy makers were recommended to revise the curriculum and prospective teachers’ education in the light of sustainable developmental goals
Effectual Energy Consumption and User Comfort Optimization Based on Dynamic User Set Parameters in Electric Vehicles
Efficient energy consumption minimization and comfort index maximization in electric vehicles have grasped the attention of many researchers in recent years. Several models have been proposed and developed for this purpose, but these models have limitations in one way or another; some provide good results in energy consumption minimization but compromise on comfort, and some are capable of maximizing the comfort level but also increasing the energy consumption. Hence, to tackle these problems, we have proposed a model based on optimization, machine learning, smoothing, and control algorithms. The purpose of the proposed model is two folds, first, to minimize energy consumption and second, to maximize user comfort. The suggested model comprises three main modules: the smoothing module, the optimization module, and the control module. In the smoothing module, the alpha-beta filter, the simplest and most effective filter, has been used to remove noise and smooth the data. The optimization module is further divided into two sub-modules: the FA-GA module and the support vector machine module. The purpose of the support vector machine in the optimization module is to make the system fully automatic and dynamic by setting the user parameters in the objective function of the FA-GA module. In the control module, Mamdani fuzzy logic has been used to provide the desired energy to corresponding actuators. The proposed method is compared with some well-known approaches, and the results indicate that the proposed method provides good results compared to counterpart algorithms
Frequency of early morbidities in low birth weight neonates at the Aga khan university hospital, Karachi
Background: Globally, approximately 14.6% children are born with low birth weight (LBW) annually. In Pakistan, this figure however reaches approximately 16%. Low birth weight infants are vulnerable to develop early morbidities like hypothermia, hypoglycemia, respiratory distress syndrome and hypocalcemia. There is a scarcity of statistics which creates a gap in development of strategies for improving quality of care in developing countries. The aim of our study was to determine the frequency of early morbidities such as respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), hypoglycemia, hypothermia and hypocalcemia in low birth weight neonates. Methodology: prospective descriptive study was conducted via non-probability sampling technique from 1st April 2016 to 30th September 2016 at The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. All low birth weight infants, i.e., those with birth weight \u3c 2500 grams were included in this study and observed for early morbidities, including hypothermia, hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia and respiratory distress syndrome. Descriptive analysis was done using SPSS version 22 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY), mean and standard deviation were determined for quantitative variables, whereas frequency and percentages were calculated for qualitative variables.
Result: A total of 2082 neonates were born during the study period, of which 271 (13%) were born with low birth weight. One hundred and eighty-five (68.1%) of these LBW neonates were preterm babies while 86 (31.9%) were born at term. Among LBW neonates 137 (51.0%) were males and 134 (49.0%) females. In the study population, hypoglycemia was seen in 17.3%, hypocalcemia in 13.6%, respiratory distress syndrome in 11%, and hypothermia in 2.5%. Conclusion: our study highlighted major early morbidities of LBW neonates, and their association with birth weight, gestational age and gender. Significant association of birth weight was found with hypothermia and hypocalcemia, whereas hypocalcemia and RDS were significantly associated with gestational age. However, none of the early morbidities had significant association with gender. Keeping in perspective the early morbidities in this population we propose that priority be given to providing adequate attention to low birth weight neonates
Control strategies for robotic manipulators
This survey is aimed at presenting the major robust control strategies for rigid robot manipulators. The techniques discussed are feedback linearization/Computed torque control, Variable structure compensator, Passivity based approach and Disturbance observer based control. The first one is based on complete dynamic model of a robot. It results in simple linear control which offers guaranteed stability. Variable structure compensator uses a switching/relay action to overcome dynamic uncertainties and disturbances. Passivity based controller make use of passive structure of a robot. If passivity of a feedback system is proved, nonlinearities and uncertainties will not affect the stability. Disturbance observer based controllers estimate disturbances, which can be cancelled out to achieve a nominal model, for which a simple controller can then be designed. This paper, after explaining each control strategy in detail, finally compares these strategies for their pros and cons. Possible solutions to cope with the drawbacks have also been presented in tabular form. © 2012 IEEE
