with leishmanicidal activity: computational and experimental evidence
Pistacia chinensis subsp. integerrima is a valuable medicinal plant as its parts and extracts found application for treating diarrhea, fever, liver disorders, asthma, and inflammation. In this study, we report the leishmanicidal activity of sakuranetin, spinacetin, and patuletin extracted from P. chinensis. The tested compounds revealed a strong anti-leishmanial activity in vitro against Leishmania major showing IC50 values of 7.98 & PLUSMN; 0.16 & mu;M, 9.23 & PLUSMN; 0.23 & mu;M 11.09 & PLUSMN; 0.87 & mu;M for sakuranetin, spinacetin, and patuletin, respectively. Moreover, to explore the potential mechanism(s) by which the compounds may act, computational docking studies were performed against dihydrofolate reductase and pteridine reductase, showing that the flavonoids could target these two key enzymes to exploit their leishmanicidal activity. In accordance with in vitro results, patuletin was highlighted as the most promising compound of the set, and binding energy values of -6.72 and -6.74 kcal/mol were computed for the two proteins, respectively
Writer Identification Using Microblogging Texts for Social Media Forensics
Establishing authorship of online texts is fundamental to combat cybercrimes. Unfortunately, text length is limited on some platforms, making the challenge harder. We aim at identifying the authorship of Twitter messages limited to 140 characters. We evaluate popular stylometric features, widely used in literary analysis, and specific Twitter features like URLs, hashtags, replies or quotes. We use two databases with 93 and 3957 authors, respectively. We test varying sized author sets and varying amounts of training/test texts per author. Performance is further improved by feature combination via automatic selection. With a large amount of training Tweets (>500), a good accuracy (Rank-5>80%) is achievable with only a few dozens of test Tweets, even with several thousands of authors. With smaller sample sizes (10-20 training Tweets), the search space can be diminished by 9-15% while keeping a high chance that the correct author is retrieved among the candidates. In such cases, automatic attribution can provide significant time savings to experts in suspect search. For completeness, we report verification results. With few training/test Tweets, the EER is above 20-25%, which is reduced to < 15% if hundreds of training Tweets are available. Modelling Interactions Between Traffic and Crosswalk Agents at Unsignalized Crossings
Agent behaviour modelling is currently one of the most challenging topics in the autonomous driving industry meaning that more research is needed in order to understand how autonomous cars should be interacting and behaving around pedestrians and cyclists. The research includes modelling vehicle-bicycle interactions based on hierarchical modelling framework [1] generating different features mentioned in literature and some proposed by author, selecting relevant ones using F value and finally creating a simple logistic regression model for estimating the drivers yielding probability. As a result, a model with following features is suggested: bicycle distance from conflict zone when vehicle enters the interaction zone, vehicle mean speed inside interaction zone, minimum speed distance and minimum speed inside interaction zone. The research also indicates that driver yielding probability is reduces with higher vehicle speed and higher bicycle distance. Furthermore, the data indicates that drivers who perceive a conflict but do not yield experience the highest mean speed referring that some vehicles do accelerate in order to avoid giving way. Additionally, the low variation in bicycles’ speed indicates cyclists’ assertive behaviour and perhaps expectations for the vehicle to yield

Mystic, philosopher and poet, Mohyiddin Ibn`Arabi proposed a very similar idea, suggesting that the Unity of Being is a single reality in its truest form, and all that the world contains is merely an image. In this article, the author explores how the concept of World of Ideas is contained and exhibited within the ghazal form. It appears that the concept allows for a freer flow of ideas within poetry, that the artist can explore both worlds
Exploring the Potential Applications of AI in Climate Modeling, Renewable Energy Development, and Disaster Preparedness, While Considering the Ethical Risks
This research examines the numerous applications of Artificial Intelligence in climate modeling, renewable energy systems, and disaster preparedness in terms of its significant impacts on prediction accuracy, system optimization, and effectiveness in disaster response efforts, especially in Punjab, Pakistan. In order to achieve this, the research adopted a quantitative research design that allowed for the systematic collection of data from 176 participants. This population included diverse groups of policymakers, government officials, and industry stakeholders, and the data was collected through a snowball sampling technique that assisted in reaching an appropriate range of relevant respondents. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires prepared for the study population to respond and analyze the information provided using several statistical tools and techniques such as correlation and regression, and ANOVA. Findings from this analysis clearly show that artificial intelligence has a great deal to do with making efficiency improve in different domains such as in climate modeling, renewable production of energy, and readiness for disaster preparedness depending on professional activities among the subjects' perceptions. Regression also confirmed that there is a very significant correlation between applications of artificial intelligence and stakeholder perceptions within these domains. The results obtained from ANOVA analysis have succeeded in underlining and highlighting major and significant differences that happen to exist in performance when such comparisons are made between different kinds of stakeholder groups. Such results will serve to throw into sharp relief and accentuate the critical importance of artificial intelligence in addressing complex problems in climate and energy, while creating attention to the urgent need for different and tailored policies that appropriately address and respond to divergent and differing perspectives expressed by these various stakeholders. The study concludes by making recommendations on cooperation, responsible AI practices, and investment in AI infrastructure towards sustainable development and climate resilience

Homeless youth of Pakistan: Survival sex and HIV risk
While homeless young people (HYP) are typically perceived as irresponsible and morally suspect individuals who lack essential social skills to navigate their lives, this book offers an alternative and more positive perspective. It demonstrates that HYP improvise with resources available on the streets to improve their social and financial status, although they experience significant social structural constraints. This ground-breaking text provides an analysis of social processes that contribute to young people\u27s homelessness, their engagement in sex work, their establishment of intimate partnerships, and sexual practices which may increase their risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The book demonstrates how the ongoing social and financial instability and insecurity neutralises HYP\u27s knowledge of HIV/STIs, and how financial considerations, fear of violence by clients, and social obligations in intimate partnerships contribute to their sexual risk-taking. The author argues that the conventional approach of promoting health through raising awareness regarding HIV/STI prevention may continue to bring less than promising outcomes unless we focus on how structural and contextual conditions operate in the backdrop and produce conditions less conducive for young people.
