Il laterizio nelle abitazioni tradizionali a Mashhad, Iran: conoscenza e restauro
The present paper, derived from a PhD dissertation, studies the most ancient houses of Mashhad, the holy city of Iran. The residential buildings in question, including numerous traditional dwellings in different scales, have confronted with transformation and been under destruction by local municipality due to urban developments. In the meantime, most remnants which have got away with demolition are partially in ruin or abandoned, in spite of possessing historical values and architectural features worthy of being preserved. Since both great mansions and vernacular houses in Mashhad are built of brick-masonries, a descriptive documentation of the nature of bricks, the damages they face as well as the implementing methods associated with sketches will assist scholars with the recognition of heritage exposed to annihilation. The approach has been mainly concerned with direct observation of the masonries together with laboratory analyses of the brick samples taken from case studies complemented with library and archival resources. Additionally, the recent conservation projects in which the author was directly present or involved have been highlighted to provide a Comprehensive research work.
Authorship in Design and Designer as Author
In the realm of art and literature, author and authorship have been, and still are, among the controversial terms. In this respect, the key place of author, in different times and from various aspects, has been on focus. Also, in the contemporary time, certain aspects of literary criticisms concerning the place of author have played a major role in forming new attitudes. By publishing an article entitled designer as author, Michael Rick, a designer and graphic re-searcher, posed a new discussion on graphic design which had not been assert-ed so clearly before. Before publishing this article, the major critical as well as author-centered discussions concerning the place of author dealt with lit-erature. The present study addressed two main questions: What are the limits and aspects of the theory of designer as author? And how are they applied in the design process? The data were collected based on written sources as well as on interviews conducted. The results indicated that the legitimacy of idea of authorship in design is basically rooted in the fact that certain designers, when participainting in a graphic design leav the personal fingerprint a professional character which is readily recognizable by the viewer based on which a given designer is distinguished from anothe
The (5, p)-arithmetic hyperbolic lattices in three dimensions : a dissertation in Mathematics, presented to the Massey University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy
The group contains an unlimited number of lattices of orientation-preserving isometries of hyperbolic 3-space (equivalently Kleinian groups of finite co-volume) that may be produced by using two elements of finite orders and as generators. For example, all but a finite number of - orbifold Dehn surgery on any of the infinite number of hyperbolic two-bridge links (or knots if ) would have (orbifold) fundamental groups that are such uniform (co-compact) lattices. However, it was demonstrated in \cite{MM} that, up to conjugacy, two elements of finite order could generate only a finite number of arithmetic lattices. In fact, it is proved in \cite{MM} that there are only a finite number of {\em nearly arithmetic} groups, that is groups generated by two elements of finite order that are discrete subgroups of arithmetic groups and are not free on the two generators.
The main result of this thesis is the determination of all the finitely many arithmetic lattices in the orientation preserving isometry group of hyperbolic -space generated by an element of order and an element of order , along with the determination of all the associated nearly arithmetic groups. These groups will have a presentation of the form
In this Thesis, we find that necessarily
\begin{itemize}
\item
\item The total degree of the invariant trace field
is at most and at most for lattices.
\item Each orbifold is either a two bridge link of slope surgered with , orbifold Dehn surgery or a Heckoid group with rational slope and with , and is a Farey word - described later.
\end{itemize}
For each such group, we find a discrete and faithful representation in , identify the rational slope and identify the associated number theoretic data
Antioxidant Activity of Methanolic Extracts of Borago Officinalis, Teucrium Polium, Mentha Aquatica and Allium Taradox
Background and Aim: Free radicals and the oxidative stress they generate are implicated in a wide range of disorders in the human body. One of the important approaches to eliminate free radicals and prevent their side effects is to use natural antioxidants. Plants contain significant amounts of phenolic compounds in all their parts that give them antioxidant properties. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity and phenolic content of methanolic extracts from aerial parts of some medicinal plants.
Methods: Methanolic extracts from the leaves of Wild Borage (Borago officinalis), Teucrium (Teucrium polium), Water Mint (Mentha aquatica) and Wild Leek (Allium taradox) were prepared and evaluated for their free-radical scavenging capacity or their antioxidant activity. The amount of total phenolic content was determined using the folin-ciocalteu method and the amount of anti - radical activity was determined using the DPPH free radical scavenging method and determining inhibitory concentration (IC50). All experiments were performed in triplicate.
Results: The obtained results and statistical analyses showed that the methanolic extracts of Borago officinalis and Teucrium polium contain high amounts of phenolic compounds and also had more free radical inhibition due to the lower IC50 values. Also, Borago officinalis had significant antioxidant activity compared to other plants.
Conclusion: Our investigation indicates that Borago officinalis leaves are a promising source of natural antioxidants.

Relationship among Economic Growth, Internet Usage and Publication Productivity: Comparison among ASEAN and World’s Best Countries
Publication productivity, as measured by the number of papers, has been regarded as one of the main indicators of reputation of countries and institutions. Nevertheless, the relationship among research publications, economic growth and World Wide Web in ASEAN countries is still unclear. The main intention of this study was to identify publication productivity among ASEAN and the world’s top ten countries in the last 16 years (1996-2011). This study also aimed at finding the relationship among publication, gross domestic product (GDP) and internet usage. Furthermore, the publication trend in the 10 first Malaysian universities was evaluated for the same periods. Scopus database was used to find the overall documents, overall citations, citations per document and international collaboration from 1996 to 2011 for each country. The World Bank database (World Data Bank) was used to collect the data for GDP and the number of internet users. Moreover, to evaluate 10 top Malaysian universities, the number of published articles, conferences, reviews, and letters for the same periods was collected. The results of this study showed significant differences among ASEAN and top 10 countries regarding publication productivity. Moreover, a positive and significant relationship was observed between indices, GDP and internet usage for these countries. Surprisingly, international collaboration had a significant and negative relationship with economic growth. Malaysia had fewer citations per document (7.64) and international collaboration (36.9%) among ASEAN countries. In conclusion, international collaboration between academic institutes and researchers is influenced by economic growth and access to internet in the countries. Furthermore, publication trends in ASEAN countries are promising. However, policy makers and science managers should try to find different ways to increase the quality of the research publication and to raise citation per document.Gholizadeh, H., H. Salehi, M. A. Role of procedural justice, trust, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment in Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of teachers: Proposing a modified social exchange model
AbstractWhile the literature in non educational organization is extensive, there are very few studies related to social exchange predictors of teacher OCB. Among existing evidence, two of the high cited studies have been implemented by Moorman, Niehoff, and Organ (1993) and Konovsky and Pugh (1994). Although their social exchange models have been cited by different studies, they haven’t attracted the attention of educational researchers. In the present study 3 models generated from their models were examined by structural equation modeling. The sample was 652 teachers and 131 principals. Data were collected through 5 questionnaires. The most important finding of this study is the positive fit indexes of a modified model. According to this model procedural justice has two lines to promote teacher OCB. First through influencing teacher trust and the second line is to influence teacher OCB through job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Since most empirical evidence on the social exchange predictors of OCB are limited to non educational organizations, this study, extends this line of inquiry in public school

Effective Strategies for Increasing Citation Frequency
Due to the effect of citation impact on The Higher Education (THE) world university ranking system, most of the researchers are looking for some helpful techniques to increase their citation record. This paper by reviewing the relevant articles extracts 33 different ways for increasing the citations possibilities. The results show that the article visibility has tended to receive more download and citations. This is probably the first study to collect over 30 different ways to improve the citation record. Further study is needed to explore and expand these techniques in specific fields of study in order to make the results more precisely
