Main microorganisms involved in the fermentation of Ugandan ghee
Mashita, a traditional fermented butter-like product is widely produced in western Uganda. However, no detailed studies have been done to identify the microorganisms involved in mashita fermentation. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the microorganisms involved in mashita fermentation using culture-dependent and culture-independent techniques. The most commonly identified strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in mashita using culture-dependent techniques were Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus perolens constituting 37.3%, 10.1%, 8.1% and 7.7% of total bacterial colonies isolated respectively. L. paracasei was the only bacterial species identified in all mashita samples. PCR-DGGE results indicated that acetic acid bacteria (AAB) and LAB were the dominant bacterial groups in mashita. Acetobacter aceti, Acetobacter lovaniensis, Acetobacter orientalis and Acetobacter pasteurianus were the main species of AAB identified in the mashita whereas Bifidobacterium sp., Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactobacillus acetotolerans, Lactobacillus sp., Lactococcus raffinolactis, Lactococcus sp. and Streptococcus salivarius as the main strains of LAB in mashita. PCR-DGGE of the D1 region of yeasts showed that Brettanomyces custersianus, Candida silvae, Geotrichum candidum, Issatchenkia occidentalis, Issatchenkia orientalis, Kluyveromyces marxianus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Trichosporon asahii were part of the mashita microbial community. In Order to Utilize the Learning of Modeling Expression at the University in the Field of Education and Childcare ―From Stone Art to Beyond―
魅力にあふれる造形表現の実践準備をすることは、教育者・保育者に絶えず求められるミッションであろう。筆者は、教材としてすでに古典として位置付けられている「モダン・テクニックの継承」と、教材研究の積み重ねの上で導き出した「新しい造形表現の浸透」とのバランスを見極めつつ、教育者・保育者に多様な造形課題を提供していくことで、現場で表現活動を指導していくための引き出しを充実させていくことに努めている。その試行錯誤の中で、最近に至って、複数の新しい造形表現から確かな手応えを得ることができている。今回はその中から、「石ころアート」の実践を取り上げる。「石ころアート」に取り組むことの「ねらい」には、「すべての石ころ(自然物)にはそれぞれ違ったかたちや魅力があることを実感すること」、「素材から直接伝わる、つるつる、ざらざら、冷たい、重い、などの感触を大切にすること」、「石ころの見える角度や配置を変えることで、表現の可能性が無限に広がっていくことを楽しむこと」、三つの要点が練り上げてあり、「石ひろい」から始まり、「制作」を経て、「鑑賞」に至るまでの道筋を、ビジュアル的にも楽しめる実践報告として、3.の中で紹介する。幼稚園教育要領が「幼児期の終わりまでに育ってほしい姿」で示す「10の姿」の視点との共鳴も意識しつつ、この表現活動が、教育・保育現場でどのように活用できるのか、「振り返りと発展」といったPDCAサイクルも念頭に置いた上で、その在り方を報告する。departmental bulletin pape
Plurality In Academic Tradition: The Case of Lecturers? Educational Background at the Graduate School Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta from 1982-2014
This book initially was a research which is completed and
submitted to the Graduate School Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic
University (UIN) Jakarta, as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for
the degree of Master of Islamic Education.
The idea of the book originated primarily from a reality that
diversity occurs in all educational levels. For the UIN cases, the
phenomena of diversity can be noticed from its academic community;
whether it comes from different social or religious organizations,
educational background, cultural or ethnicity, countries or even
religions. Hence, as a unique institution which produces a distinct
tradition of Islamic studies, the UIN provide lecturers with different
scholarly tradition; either graduated from the Eastern, Western or local
universities.
To that end, I performed a research and focused merely on
lecturers? educational background to understand further how they dealt
with differences, in particular concerning the impact on students? work. I
presumed that lecturers struggled with internal conflicts since the
background has different educational tradition. The Western, Eastern
and local educational traditions have been explored further in this book
chapter to help readers understand these different entities respectively.
By exploring the notion of collaboration which closely related
with conflict resolution, I ended up with a conclusion that the East-West
tension nowadays have been melted, although not entirely. I argued that
lecturers? collaboration not only can be traced through the intrapersonal
or interpersonal aspects. The need to combined those two levels with an
additional aspect, the epistemological dimension; become substantial.
This statement can be verified since the epistemological dimension of
lecturers? educational background becomes the basis on both side to
work collaboratively. This general finding indicated that two salient
factors that support the process of lecturers? collaboration, including
their background as a pesantren graduates and their participation to
promote the Indonesian Islam. By having a team-work, they construct
the idea to promote the moderate culture amid academic community.
With this finding, I reaffirm a general statement which declared the
Graduate School UIN Jakarta as a smelting place. My hope that these
findings will give a positive contribution on discussion toward research
on East-West relationship, diversity and equity, lecturers? collaboration,
and professional communities. In view of that, I realized that this research to some degree is a
collaboration of so many people whom I cannot mention their names one
by one proportionally in this acknowledgment. For this reason, I would
like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of people who have
assisted me in completing my study and in particular in finishing this
research.

An Efficient Method of Supporting Interactions for an Integrated Distance Learning System
In recent years, as the demand of taking lectures without the limitation of time and place by those who have jobs and require lifelong education grows, there are more and more expectations on the implementation of a distance learning system. However, in most of the existing asynchronous distance learning systems, the images shown on screen are limited to the images of the teacher with synchronized digital documents used in lectures. Since these systems have not been able to convey interactions between a teacher and students, the educational effectiveness is lower than the traditional lecture. This paper describes a distance learning system that supports interactions between a teacher and students in asynchronous distance learning. During synchronous distance learning, this system can record interactions automatically with XML. It can provide recorded interactions to students who are studying asynchronously. An important point to emphasize is not only synchronizing digital documents with recorded lecture video, but also synchronizing recorded interactions with digital documents and lecture video. Moreover in order to support interactions, this system also links similar questions together and can suggest the most meaningful question.</p
A CASE OF GIANT FOREIGN-BODY GRANULOMA CONCOMITANTLY OCCURRING WITH HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA 14 YEARS AFTER A LIVER BIOPSY
CD133 Negatively Regulates Tumorigenicity via AKT Pathway in Synovial Sarcoma
Synovial sarcoma is an aggressive tumor which accounts for almost 10% of all soft tissue sarcomas. In this study, we found the expression of CD133 in human synovial sarcoma specimens, thus we focused on the function of CD133 in synovial sarcoma. Separation of the CD133-positive and -negative subpopulations in synovial sarcoma cell lines clarified that the CD133-negative subpopulation exhibited enhanced growth and hyperphosphorylation of AKT. Treatment of Akt inhibitor suppressed the cell growth of CD133-negative subpopulation to the levels of CD133-positive cells. These results suggest that CD133 has negative effect on the growth of cells through AKT-dependent signalling pathway
