    What Math Students Need To Learn English?

    This research aims to analyse the needs in the process of learning English and to know the specific information about content and material needed by math students. This research is descriptive qualitative and conducted in the third semester of the Mathematics Education Department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung. It was qualitative descriptive research by collecting data from interviews and documentation. The results show that English is important for professional needs because it is needed in all fields. In addition, speaking and grammar are difficult aspects for students. The basic laws of mathematics as materials are needed the most

    BUILDING VOCABULARY USING POP SONGS

    The objective of the study is to find out whether there is a significant difference between the vocabulary mastery of first semester students taughtusing English pop songs and that taught without using English pop songs as a medium. This study involved 64 students of first semesterof STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung in the academic year of 2012/2013 as the objects of the study. The result of the study shows there is a significant difference in the student’s vocabulary mastery between the experimental group who are taughtusing English pop songs and that taught without using English pop songs as a medium.The mean of post test score of the experimental group is 16.93 while the mean score of the control group is 14.54. The result of t-test shows that t-observed value which is higher than the t-value of the table (2.572&gt;1.99), with a probability value of 0.008 which is lower than the significance level (0.008 &lt; 0.05). In conclusion, the use of English pop songscould improve the students’ vocabulary mastery.Keywords: Vocabulary, English Pop Songs</p

    In class of Phonetic phonology, students having confusion about a huge differences of each symbol and its phoneme between Indonesia and English. Only by giving them a lecturer in each meeting would not satisfy their needs. As it simply cannot keep up with it, learners have to be able to process and investigate their curiosity on their own autonomously.  Oral presentation is believed as one of implementations to promote learner autonomy in University environment. 32 students in the class divided into 10 groups presented several topics about phonetic and phonology. The data were collected through observation, interview, and questionaire. Then, they were analyzed using the steps in case study research method. The finding shows that oral presentation had given them “freedom”to discover and autonomy to do their own learning. They also given good response relating of  what they had learnt dan investigated during teaching learning in Phonetic and Phonology Class.</p

    THE USE OF ENGLISH MOVIE IN TEACHING AUSTIN’S ACT

    The purpose of this research is to investigate and describe the finding about the use of English movie in teaching Austin’s act in the fifth semester. This research is categorized as descriptive qualitative research. It means that the writer would describe the data gain as naturally as possible. The writer used this method in order to get specific, factual, and meaningful data. In this research, the writer used observation, interview, and documentation to collect the data. The population of the research was the students of fifth semester of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung in the academic year of 2014/2015.     STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING IN ENTERPRENEURSHIP CLASS

    Project based learning is teaching method that offer learner autonomy and freedom to beenggaged with their le arning activity. From that also the learner can learn theirlanguage (L2) by doing their project conciously or unconciously.Project-basedlearning was suceed to be implemented in the class of enterpreneurship class. In thisproject, 62 students were divided into 31 pairs and asked to do the project onbuilding their own bussiness. The bussiness should be based on language skills. Thedata were collected mainly from students’ essays, writen at the end of semester, onthe advantages and disadvantages of using project-based learning in classroom. Thedata were then analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitativeanalysis was first used for assessing the responses obtained from the essays; andsecondly, the qualitative analysis provided the evaluation and interpretation of thefigures. The results showed that most students appreciated the use of PBL in theclassroom because the method made them to be more independent in learning of howto teach using English and use their talent in creating bussiness.Beside this alsoevoke the students willingness to do their project in creating bussiness, Englishcourses.Keywords: project, teaching and learning method, enterpreneursihp, bussiness</p

    Abstract The objectives of the research are to find out: (1) whether inquiry-based teaching is more effective than grammar-translation method to teach vocabulary; (2) whether the students who have high locus of control have better vocabulary than those who have low locus of control; and (3) whether there is an interaction between teaching methods and locus of control in teaching vocabulary.The factorial design method 2x2 was employed in this research. The population of the research was the students of fourth semester of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung in the academic year of 2014/2015. Based on the test of the hypotheses, it can be concluded that inquiry-based teaching is not significant effective method to teach vocabulary.     The process of using ESP (English for Specific Purposes) to learn English in universities usually does not achieve the best results. One of the contributing factors is the lack of learning programs that are not related to the scientific field they are engaged in. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate a study plan, first analyzing the needs of students to learn English with specific objectives. Therefore, this study aims to find and describe the needs of ESP English learners. This must be done so that the learning of English received is by the scientific field he masters and the field of work he will be involved in. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of this study was to determine the need for learning English for the Management study program. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire survey. The data obtained are then classified to identify and describe the needs of students to learn English. The results of this study will be used as a reference for further research, namely syllabus planning and development of ESP English books or teaching materials

    DEVELOPING E-MODULES OF CONFIDENCE AT ENGLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING WITH ISLAMIC VALUES

    Self-confidence can help someone to perform and speak well in public and is needed by a Public Speaker. These aspects of self-confidence are also actually already contained in Islam. The purpose of this research is to develop an e-module on developing self-confidence for English Public Speaking using Islamic values. The e-module development model uses ADDIE, the research sample is English education students. In this study to obtain the correct data, the authors used several methods, namely observation, interviews, questionnaires and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive data analysis technique. Based on the results of e-module validation by material experts, it can be concluded that the material in the e- module is very good. Meanwhile, based on the results of the assessment by media experts, it can also be concluded that the e-module is declared very good based on the media. In general, the quality of e-modules is good and feasible to use in the learning process at the implementation stage

    Tujuan dari Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi kepada guru-guru di SD di Kecamatan Ambarawa tentang model pembelajaran pada kurikulum merdeka yang terintegrasi dengan nilai keislaman. Metode kegiatan PKM yang dilaksanakan terdiri dari tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Kegiatan pada tahap persiapan yaitu observasi sekolah, menganalisis permasalahan disekolah, merancang solusi terhadap permasalahan, merancang google sites tentang materi, kuesener yang disusun dengan google form, dan mendata guru. Kegiatan pada tahap pelaksanaan yaitu memberi informasi dalam bentuk edukasi tentang bagaimana mengimplementasi model pembelajaran pada kurikulum merdeka yang terintegrasi dengan nilai keislaman . Kegiatan pada tahap evaluasi yaitu guru mempraktikan model pembelajaran sesuai kurikulum merdeka secara langsung. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan ini selain mendapatkan respon yang baik juga dinilai dapat meningkatkan&nbsp;&nbsp; pengetahuan&nbsp;&nbsp; dan&nbsp;&nbsp; kemampuan&nbsp;&nbsp; guru&nbsp;&nbsp; SD&nbsp; di kecamatan Ambarawa dalam melaksanakan&nbsp; proses&nbsp; pembelajaran.
