A leaf from the Bendall "Vamsavali"
The language of the manuscript in question is difficult. One part is written in Sanskrit and the other part in old Newari. Bendall borrowed the manuscript and it was taken to London for research, resulting in the article: 'The History of Nepal and Surrounding Kingdoms'. The author challenges some of the interpretations of the manuscript and looks to correct a few mistakes in the book that was subsequently published using the original interprepation

Does The Use Of Simulation Enhance The Development Of Registered Physiotherapist’s Respiratory ‘On-Call’ Skills – A Literature Review
Background and aim: On-call respiratory physiotherapy is utilized when an acutely unwell patient could deteriorate without immediate assessment and treatment overnight. Education related to this topic varies greatly and is often of poor quality. Simulation-based education (SBE) has been increasingly used within other areas of healthcare yet, Gough et al. [1] completed a study in 2013, which found only 39% of acute trusts used simulation for respiratory on-call training.
Aim: To determine from existing research, whether SBE can enhance the development of registered physiotherapists respiratory ‘on-call’ skills in order to impact future practice.
Methods: A qualitative literature review was completed as part of a PgCert in Health Simulation at Coventry University, in March 2023. Ethical approval was gained from Coventry University (P149952). Studies included were found by searching AMED, CINAHL Embase and Medline databases. Figure 1-A20 presents the PRISMA flow diagram [2]. Final reports included were critically analysed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme framework [3] and data extracted and formatted into a table. General themes were identified using an inductive approach.
Results: Eleven papers were selected to be reviewed after the removal of duplicates, screening and the exclusion criteria were applied. The main themes identified were the use of high-fidelity simulation, the measure of confidence and/or competence, and findings of positive implications for practice. SBE is widely used for other healthcare professions with positive outcomes; however, its use within respiratory physiotherapy is limited. Most studies chose to measure self-reported levels of competence and confidence, which is an example of Kirkpatrick level-one evaluation. These measures have only casual links to transfer of knowledge and behaviour change, which are key requirements when applying training to clinical settings. Interestingly, the review also demonstrates favourable use of high-fidelity manikins within this population. Although this was not discussed by the researchers, this may be a barrier for further implementation due to cost and technical knowledge required to use the equipment.
Conclusion: The use of SBE has been beneficial in other healthcare professions and similar positives were found for its use with respiratory physiotherapists. However, much of the research is of low quality, and further research is required to review other confounding factors that may influence the outcomes and longitudinal staff behaviour.
Ethics statement: Authors confirm that all relevant ethical standards for research conduct and dissemination have been met. The submitting author confirms that relevant ethical approval was granted, if applicable

Simulation-based education within respiratory physiotherapy training: a scoping review
Objective
The aim of this scoping review is to provide respiratory physiotherapists with guidance on the implementation of simulation-based education.
Introduction
In recent years there has been a widespread rise in the adoption of simulation-based education. A scoping review was decided upon by the ACPRC Editorial Board to focus on any new evidence or guidance in the field.
Inclusion criteria
1) Studies investigating the use of simulation-based education within respiratory physiotherapy 2) Meta-analyses, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, randomised controlled trials and observational studies.
Methods
A literature search was developed and refined through testing. Nine databases were searched between 01/01/2014 and 31/10/2022. Data regarding study design, population, intervention, comparator and control were extracted into a data extraction table. Results were grouped by study design, intervention or context.
Results
141 sources were retrieved from the searches. After initial screening 27 sources were included and after full-text review, 25 were included. Sources included: meta-analyses and systematic review and studies considering pre-registration education, interprofessional learning, part-task trainers and postgraduate education.
Conclusion
There is increasing research output in the simulation-based education field for respiratory physiotherapy. The evidence continues to focus on learner experience. More resources and support are required to increase access to simulation-based education for respiratory physiotherapists
Novel mesenchymal and haematopoietic cell isoforms of the SHP-2 docking receptor, PZR: identification, molecular cloning and effects on cell migration
SHP-2 (Src homology phosphatase type-2) is essential for haematopoietic skeletal and vascular development. Thus the identification of its binding partners is critically important. In the present study, we describe a unique monoclonal antibody, WM78, which interacts with PZR, a SHP-2 binding partner. Furthermore, we identify two novel isoforms of PZR, PZRa and PZRb, derived by differential splicing from a single gene transcription unit on human chromosome 1q24. All are type 1 transmembrane glycoproteins with identical extracellular and transmembrane domains, but differ in their cytoplasmic tails. The PZR intracellular domain contains two SHP-2 binding immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (VIY(246)AQL and VVY(263)ADI) which are not present in PZRa and PZRb. Using the WM78 monoclonal antibody, which recognizes the common extracellular domain of the PZR isoforms, we demonstrate that the PZR molecules are expressed on mesenchymal and haematopoietic cells, being present on the majority of CD34(+)CD38(+) and early clonogenic progenitors, and at lower levels on CD34(+)CD38(-) cells and the hierarchically more primitive pre-colony forming units. Interestingly, we show by reverse transcriptase-PCR that the PZR isoforms are differentially expressed in haematopoietic, endothelial and mesenchymal cells. Both PZR and PZRb are present in CD133(+) precursors and endothelial cells, PZRb predominates in mesenchymal and committed myelomonocytic progenitor cells, and all three isoforms occur in erythroid precursor cell lines. Importantly, using SHP-2 mutant (Delta 46-110) and SHP-2 rescue of embryonic fibroblasts stably expressing the PZR isoforms, we demonstrate for the first time that PZR, but not PZRa or PZRb, facilitates fibronectin- dependent migration of cells expressing a competent SHP-2 molecule. These observations will be instrumental in determining the mechanisms whereby PZR isoforms regulate cell motility.Zannettino, Andrew C W ; Roubelakis, Maria ; Welldon, Katie J ; Jackson, Denise E ; Simmons, Paul J ; Bendall, Linda J ; Henniker, Anthony ; Harrison, Kate L ; Niutta, Silvana ; Bradstock, Kenneth F ; Watt, Suzanne
The Coinage of Constantine XI
Summary. — In the light of a hoard of 158 silver Palaeologan coins, from John V (1354- 1391) to 1453, the author discusses the complete coinage of the last Byzantine emperor, Constantine XI (1448-1453). The existence of this coinage was known from literary sources but the first coin did not appear on the market until 1974. This hoard adds five half-sta vrata to the two previously known and reveals 35 stavrata and 50 1/8 stavrata which were previously unpublished. A die study indicates a considerably larger issue than is apparent from the present rarity of the coins which can be explained by the sudden end to their circulation.Bendall Simon. Who is the Native of the Sarvasiddhāntatattvacūḍāmaṇi?
The British Library, London, holds a unique manuscript copy of a Sanskrit text entitled Sarvasiddhāntatattvacūḍāmaṇi (MS London BL Or. 5259). This manuscript, consisting of 304 large-size folios, is lavishly illustrated and richly illuminated. The author, Durgāśaṅkara Pāṭhaka of Benares, attempted in this work to discuss all the systems of astronomy – Hindu, Islamic and European – around the nucleus of the horoscope of an individual personage. Strangely, without reading the manuscript, the authors Sudhākara Dvivedī in 1892, C. Bendall in 1902 and J. P. Losty in 1982, declared that the horoscope presented in this work was that of Nau Nihal Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Lahore, and this has been the prevailing notion since then.
The present paper refutes this notion and shows – on the basis of the relevant passages from the manuscript – that the real native of the horoscope is Lehna Singh Majithia, a leading general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh
