Escritura translingüe en el Caribe colombiano
This article examines Los cristales de la sal (2019), the first novel by the Colombian author Cristina Bendek, and its relation within the Colombian national literary canon. Through the analysis of its translingual and transnational narrative strategies, this article identifies a trans-Caribbean poetics in Los cristales de la sal that redefines the contours of Colombian literature and creates intertextual ties and relations with Caribbean literatures. The article concludes with a dicussion of the ecological as well as the literary function of the translingual and transnational strategies at play, and the stakes of the novel’s trans-Caribbean poetics for the natural, literary and human ecologies of the region.Este artículo propone examinar Los cristales de la sal (2019), primera novela de la autora colombiana Cristina Bendek, y su relación dentro del canon de literatura nacional colombiana. A través del análisis de las estrategias narrativas translingües y transnacionales empleadas en la novela, se identificará la construcción de una poética transcaribeña en Los cristales de la sal que redefine los contornos de la literatura colombiana y que crea vínculos y relaciones intertextuales con la literatura caribeña. En las conclusiones del análisis se discutirá la función no sólo literaria sino también ecologista de las estrategias translingües y transnacionales de la novela, y de las implicaciones de su poética transcaribeña para las ecologías naturales, literarias y humanas de la región
The formal architecture of identity in Nancy Huston's L'Empreinte de l'ange
This article analyses Huston's 1998 novel, L'Empreinte de l'ange, which explores language's fundamental role in transnational mobility, and how the daily migration between French and another language impacts on the negotiation of identity for cultural others in France. This analysis demonstrates how linguistic alterity disrupts the apparently easy coincidence of language, community, identity, and belonging. The first section examines Huston's use of language as both a narrative theme and strategy in the representation of the interstitial subjectivity characteristic of transnational mobility. The second part turns to Huston's concern with her legitimacy as a non-native Francophone writer within the canon of French literature. The conclusion posits the notion that the highly visible formal architecture of Huston's novel can be seen as a deliberate strategy to enact and unravel the links between language, writing, and transnational Francophone identity.Le présent article analyse L'Empreinte de l'ange (1998) de Nancy Huston, qui explore le rôle fondamental du langage dans le processus de mobilité transnationale, ainsi que l'impact identitaire de la migration quotidienne entre le français et une autre langue pour des résidents en France nés en dehors de l'Hexagone. Cette analyse démontre l'effet bouleversant de l'altérité linguistique sur la continuité entre langage, communauté, identité, et appartenance. Dans un premier temps, nous analysons l'emploi du langage comme thème de la narration ainsi que comme stratégie narrative dans la représentation de la subjectivité interstitielle, qui est caractéristique de la mobilité transnationale. Dans un deuxième temps, nous étudions la préoccupation de l'auteur concernant sa légitimité en tant qu'auteur francophone non-autochtone au sein de la littérature française. Cette analyse permet de conclure que la structure formelle extrêmement visible du roman vise à apporter un éclairage sur les liaisons entre le langage, l'écriture, et l'identité francophone et transnationale
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Transnational mobility constitutes a frequent feature of much contemporary francophone women’s writing whose origins lie in territories with historical links to French colonial power. Yet whether configured as exile, migration, travel, or other, the experiences of transnational mobility described in postcolonial francophone women’s writing frequently focus on protagonists in childhood and early adulthood: the experiences and challenges of the exile, migrant, or traveller are seldom imagined in these texts as those of an individual in late adulthood or old age. This article analyses the intersection of ageing, mobility, and femininity in Abla Farhoud’s Le Bonheur a la queue glissante (1998), one of few narratives in French to broach the question of female ageing in migration. Reading the text in light of Sara Ahmed’s insights into the relationship between strangers, embodiment, and community (2000), the analysis reveals Farhoud’s challenge to any easy correlation between mobility and youth, and stasis and old age, and presents the potential of narratives of female ageing in migration as an underexplored space of dynamic space of growth and change that does not overlook the real bodily and subjective challenges of women’s ageing
