Podrobneje obravnavam tri dramske obdelave: prvi del Ajshilove Oresteje, tragedijo Agamemnon; Evripidovo tragedijo Trojanke in dramo Kasandra, sodobnega slovenskega avtorja, Borisa A. Novaka.

Profetic Madness in Lesya Urainka’s Drama Kasandra

Artykuł porusza temat szaleństwa/choroby psychicznej w literaturze ukraińskiej doby modernizmu końca XIX i początku XX wieku.

Artykuł porusza temat szaleństwa/choroby psychicznej w literaturze ukraińskiej doby modernizmu końca XIX i początku XX wieku. Wśród omówionych figur znalazły się opętana wieszczka Kasandra z dramatu Łesi Ukrainki Kasandra (Касандра).The main aim of this article is a synthetic overview of the phenomenon of insanity / mental illness in Ukrainian literature day Modernism late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Insanity, being one of the main themes of modernist literature, today does not live to see a proper discussion in the Ukrainian literary studies. The resulting so far work has moved this issue only into a selective and fragmentary way, always on the margins of the main range of research interests, thus far definitely without exhausting problem. This is a much puzzling fact, that in the literary legacy of the most important representatives of the Ukrainian modernizm, among others Lesya Ukrainka (1871-1913), a topic of mental illness plays a considerable, if not crucial, role. This article presents analysis of Ukrainka’s drama Касандра (Kasandra)

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    No full text
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

In this final thesis, I explain my methods in a writing process. The thesis approaches writing from an observation based point of view centered around observation making from different perspectives. The thesis presents simple exercises meant to help any writer begin or move forward in their own writing process. The exercises create observations that the writer can use as a material for their text. The exercises are also meant to provide aid with the obstacles and challenges appearing during the writing process. The exercises can be adapted to e.g. devising writing processes. In the thesis, writing is approached as a wholesome action using both body and mind. In one of the perspectives, the thesis presents improvisation tools applied to text-based work methods.Opinnäytetyöhön liittyvä harjoitustyöskentely ja koulutukset jatkuvat. University Honors Capstone Project, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015.The field of speech-language pathology is growing tremendously in our world today due to the increasing demands of client's in need. Unfortunately, not many individuals know that the field exists or what exactly the field entails. Both independently and on interdisciplinary teams, speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with many people in their careers from other fields of study. As part of the Communications Sciences and Disorders department here at the University of Minnesota Duluth, I sent a campus-wide survey to students to find out what knowledge they have about communicative disorders on a basic level. The purpose of this study was to measure the knowledge undergraduate and graduate students have at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) about communication disorders based on majors that involved the potential to work with an SLP in the future and those majors that did not. The data collected was intended to identify if students in allied majors were significantly more educated about communication disorders than those in non-allied majors. The survey was a series of 20 open-ended and multiple-choice questions that students took online via Qualtrics: Online Survey Software and Insight Platform. The responses were electronically compiled when the survey was submitted and remained anonymous. The results were analyzed on either an item-by-item frequency basis or a chi-squared analysis.Cedergren, Kasandra. (2015).
