EKSPLORASI DAN IDENTIFIKASI JENIS TUMBUHAN DI CAGAR ALAM KALAENA KABUPATEN LUWU TIMUR SULAWESI SELATAN
Cagar Alam Kalaena telah ditetapkan oleh Menteri Kehutanan sejak tahun 1987 melalui Surat Keputusan Menteri Kehutanan No. 428/Kpts-II/1987. Kawasan ini ditunjuk sebagai kawasan konservasi karena merupakan contoh perwakilan ekosistem hutan pamah sekunder yang memiliki jenis-jenis endemik dan penciri khusus dari ekosistem tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi dan mengidentifikasi keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan baik pohon maupun bukan pohon (tumbuhan bawah). Hasil penelitian adalah sejumlah koleksi spesimen herbarium tumbuhan pohon dan bukan pohon. Dari hasil penelitian ini di temukan secara keseluruhan ada 92 jenis tumbuhan yang termasuk ke dalam 44 famili, Vegetasi Cagar Alam Kalaena merupakan tipe vegetasi hutan pamah karakteristik tanah adalah ultrabasa, dan jenis yang ditemukan dominan jenis native, kecuali jenis Diospyros celebica yang merupakan tanaman introduksi yang telah menyebar hamper sebagian besar luasan kawasan, serta terdapat 43 jenis yang memiliki potensi sebagai tumbuhan berguna, berdasarkan habitusnya di dominasi oleh pohon sebanyak 39 jenis, herba 2 jenis dan liana 2 jenis
POTENSI DAN MODEL PENGEMBANGAN SPESIES TUMBUHAN DI HUTAN LINDUNG SARAMBU’ ALLA KABUPATEN LUWU UTARA
Hutan Lindung Sarambu Alla merupakan kawasan hutan negara yang terletak di Kecamatan Sabbang Kabupaten Luwu Utara. Dalam rangka mendukung tujuan dan fungsi kawasan sebagaimana tersebut di atas, maka dibutuhkan berbagai informasi dasar terkait dengan potensi yang terkandung di kawasan tersebut. Salah satu informasi yang terpenting adalah informasi mengenai potensi dan keanekaragaman spesies tumbuhan. Penelitian ini akan sangat berguna bagi upaya pengelolaan dan pengembangan Keanakeragaman Hayati dan Ekosistem dalam rangka melestarikan keanekaragaman sumberdaya plasmanutfah tumbuhan lokal, endemik, dan langka khususnya yang berasal dari wilayah Luwu Utara atau endemik Pulau Sulawesi secara umum, serta pengembangan potensi obyek daya tarik wisata alam yang terkandung di dalamnya untuk pemanfaatan wisata alam atau ekowisata. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan melalui explorasi spesies tumbuhan akan dilakukan secara purpossive dengan menggunakan sistem plot tunggal berukuran 20 m x 20 m.  Berdasarkan hasil analisis vegetasi di Kawasan Hutan Lindung Sarambu Alla menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 64 spesies yang ditemukan pada 25 plot pengamatan. Terdapat 32 spesies dengan habitus pohon memiliki potensi sebagai kayu komersial, bahan bangunan rumah, dan buahnya dapat dikonsumsi serta tumbuhan obat. Spesies tersebut bisa dijadikan model pengembangan baik ditanam pada lahan milik masyarakat, ruang terbuka hijau dan pada lahan atau kawasan hutan yang telah rusak atau terganggu
POLA SEBARAN POPULASI AREN (Arenga pinnata) BERDASARKAN KELAS PERTUMBUHAN DI DESA SANGTANDUNG KECAMATAN WALENRANG UTARA KABUPATEN LUWU
Aren (Arenga pinnata) is a type of palm where almost all of its parts can be utilized, starting from the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruit. Based on the growth rate of sugar palm can show the pattern of distribution using the Morisita index formula. The distribution pattern is a series that has settled on a symptom itself between individuals, which can be divided into three, namely uniform (regular), random (random), and clustered (clustered). This study aims to determine the distribution pattern of the sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) population based on the growth rate. This research was carried out in Sangtandung Village in July 2021. The data collection method used a purposive sampling technique by placing plots in an area with a sugar palm population following the river body 200 meters long. The distribution pattern of sugar palm based on the growth rate was analyzed using the Morisita index formula. Based on the Morishita index, the study results obtained a pattern of palm sugar distribution based on the growth rate, namely seedlings, saplings, trees with clustered patterns, and poles with uniform patterns
PERBANDINGAN STRUKTUR POPULASI TIGA JENIS KELOMPOK MERANTI (Vatica flovirens, Vatica rassak dan Hopea celebica) di KAWASAN HUTAN FARUHUMPENAI DAN DANAU MATANO
Perambahan dan pembakaran sebagai salah satu praktek pembukaan lahan untuk pertanian intensive yang marak dilakukan adalah perkebunan merica. Hal ini menyebabkan keberadaan populasi jenis endemik Hopea spp. dan Vatica spp. menjadi terancam di habitat alaminya. Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah mengetahui Struktur Populasi dari jenis Rode (Vatica flavovirens), Dama’ dere (Vatica rassak) dan Mata Kucing (Hopea celebica) pada habitat alaminya di Kawasa Hutan Faruhumpenai. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan jumlah populasi terbesar adalah pada tingkat semai untuk jenis Vatica flavovirens pada blok I, II dan IV. Kerapatan dan jumlah individu terbanyak yaitu berada pada blok I dengan total kerapatan sebesar 1.910 individu/Ha (535 invidu). Pada blok II, kerapatan semai sebesar 382,14 individu/Ha (107 individu), sedangkan pada blok IV terjadi penurunan yang sangat signifikan, kerapatan hanya 62,5 individu/Ha (5 individu). Hal ini menunjukan bahwa terjadi gangguan pada habitat alaminya, dimana terjadi perambahan dan kebakaran yang menyebabkan banyak semai atau anakan mati seketika. Oleh karena itu, perlu upaya perlindungan dan pelestarian dua jenis kayu endemik secara partisipatif melibatkan dan bekerjasama dengan multistakeholder utamanya masyarakat desa. yang berada di sekitar Kawasan Hutan Faruhumpenai.

KEARIFAN LOKAL MASYARAKAT ADAT CEREKANG DALAM MENJAGA DAN MELESTARIKAN HUTAN ADAT DI DESA MANURUNG
Indigenous people have the knowledge from generation to generation to maintain and protect forest resources around them. The role of local wisdom of the Cerekang indigenous people in protecting and preserving the customary forest is very much needed for the survival and function of the forest. This study aims to describe and explain the role of local wisdom of indigenous peoples in protecting and preserving customary forests. Data obtained directly through surveys and direct field observations, data collected through observation and interview methods are processed and classified according to research objectives and then analyzed using qualitative data analysis. The results obtained are that the Cerekang customary forest is a customary forest that has a principle of sustainability, there is no management at all by the cerekang customary community so that in maintaining and preserving the cerekang customary forest it is carried out by customary stakeholders, customary institutions, Cerekang customary communities and the village governmen
KUALITAS TEGAKAN BENIH LOKAL DI HUTAN LINDUNG KAB. LUWU UTARA
Information regarding the potential and dominance of local plant species in the Sassa Village Protection Forest, North Luwu Regency is still limited. In fact, there are fewer and fewer local plant species that are used by the community, this is indicated by the difficulty of obtaining local plant seed sources. This difficulty is due to the lack of local parent plants in this area, for this reason it is necessary to study the potential of local plants and the selection of parent trees for local plant seed sources. The research method by collecting data was carried out using exploratory techniques with the transect method, then the parent tree that had been determined as a seed source stand that had met the criteria as a parent tree was given a coordinate point. Then the scoring was carried out on tree height (T), tree diameter (D), branch-free height (Tbc), trunk straightness (KB), trunk surface (PB) and tree health condition (KK). The results of this study obtained 16 types of plants with the highest T score of 20, 16 species of plants with the highest D score of 30, 33 species that had the highest Tbc score of 15, and 3 types of plants that had the highest KB+PB+KK score of 20. There were 18 species with a total score of >60 that met the highest criteria as well as from the various genotypic characteristics that had been observed.Â
Perilaku Interaksi Sosial Monyet Hitam Dare (Macacamauraschinz, 1825) Di Taman Wisata Alam Lejja Kabupaten Soppeng
Sulawesi island is a unique island among other islands in Indonesia. This research aims to find out the social interaction behaviour of Dare Black Monkey (Macaca maura) in the Lejja natural tourism park. This animal is an endemic in Sulawesi island, located in South Sulawesi Province and categorixed as an endangered species by the IUCN, therefore its existence must be protected. The method was used field observation and focal animal sampling. The object was detremined in 15 Macaca maura based on age and sexuality in a group.Social interaction behaviour was recorded, namely the behavior of playing, grooming, coitus, conflict. Based on the results that the high social behaviour frequency of playing activity was owned by the young male (72 times) and the children (56 times), as well as grooming by young male and children have the highest frequency (31 times). Frequency of coitus and agonistic behaviours was owned by adult male with 14 times and 5 times respectively.However, the longest time proportion of playing was used by children with 10.602 second (62,01%),while the total and time percentage of coitus have the lowest value (240 second or 2,11% and 300 second or 2,58% perspectively) by adult ages
The Regeneration Potential of Kasa (Castanopsis acuminatissima Blume) in Kalaena Nature Reserve, East Luwu Regency
Kasa is one of the important species among 120 species in the genus Castanopsis (Fagaceae), which thrives in secondary and primary lowland forest areas up to 1000 m above sea level. This plant species exhibits tolerance to full sunlight. The objective of this study is to assess the regeneration potential of Kasa (Castanopsis acuminatissima Blume) in the Kalaena Nature Reserve, Indonesia. The research plots consisted of two 50 m x 50 m plots, with a nested 10 m x 10 m subplot placed using purposive sampling. The findings regarding the regeneration potential of Kasa in the Kalaena Nature Reserve revealed varying numbers of seedlings, saplings, poles, and trees. The regeneration potential of Kasa is influenced by the growth stages of seedlings and trees. During the seedling phase, the regeneration potential of Kasa is classified as very good. However, the density of trees, although in the productive category, is low due to environmental factors and the characteristics of the parent tree. Conversely, the sapling and pole phases exhibit very poor regeneration potential. In plot 1, there were 1964 individual seedlings, 6 individual saplings, 4 individual poles, and 21 individual trees. Meanwhile, plot 2 recorded 844 individual seedlings, 5 individual saplings, 1 individual pole, and 18 individual trees. The growth of Kasa in both plots displayed a clustered pattern
Diversity of orchid species in the Kalaena Nature Reserve, Mangkutana District, East Luwu Regency
Orchid belongs to the Orchidaceae family which has ecological value as a habitat provider for animals such as ants and termites. Based on their habitus, orchids are classified into epiphytic and terrestrial orchids. This study aims to determine the diversity of orchid species in the Kalaena Nature Reserve, Mangkutana District, East Luwu Regency. Data collection was carried out for two months, from May to June 2021. This study used an analysis of the important value index, ecological index and environmental parameters. The results showed that there were 24 types of orchids consisting of 20 types of epiphytic orchids and 4 types of terrestrial orchids with a total number of 134 individuals. The highest INP value was Cymbidium finlaysonianum, which was 43.54 and the lowest was Taeniophyllum sp., which was 5.60. Based on the diversity index (H') is classified as moderate with a value of 2.37-2.38, the wealth index (R) is classified as low with a value of 1.79-1.97, the evenness index (E) is classified as low with a value of 0.88-0 .96, the dominance index (D) is low with a value of 0.09-0.13 and the highest similarity index (IS) is in lanes 2 and 3, namely 57%
