    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    [[abstract]]  近年來醫院的經營競爭愈來愈激烈,醫院的經營往往面臨了許多的困難與挑戰,經營者往往又在思考,如何透過行銷推廣或服務品質的提昇,以加強其競爭力,此乃是經營者非常關切的焦點議題。因此本文針對醫院行銷推廣方式與醫院服務品質對民眾做實證之分析。根據研究調查的結果,本研究獲得下列五項之具體的結果: 1、 影響民眾就醫選擇之關鍵因素依序為:(1)醫師的醫術、專業知識、醫德與看診的態度、(2)醫療療程與醫療效果、(3)護理人員的服務態度與專業素養。 2、 民眾對醫院行銷推廣方式之偏好度依序為:(1)免費提供醫療諮詢服務、(2)親戚、朋友的介紹方式、(3)醫院義診活動、醫院主動寄送之門診時間表。 3、 不同之年齡、教育程度與平均月收入之民眾對醫院服務品質各構面(關懷性、有形性、保證性、反應性、可靠性)之看法,均達極顯著性差異水準。不同職業之民眾對醫院服務品質構面(關懷性、保證性、反應性)之看法,均具有顯著性差異。且在不同的婚姻狀況之民眾對醫院服務品質構面中之有形性與反應性之看法,具有顯著性差異存在。 4、 對影響民眾就醫選擇較具影響力之行銷推廣方式依序為:免費提供醫療諮詢服務、親戚、朋友的介紹方式、醫院義診活動、醫院主動郵寄之門診時間表、電視報導醫院的相關訊息的方式。 5、 會增加民眾對醫院的忠誠度較具影響力之行銷推廣方式依序為:親戚、朋友介紹、電視報導、免費提供醫療諮詢服務、義診活動、療簡訊與醫療刊物。[[abstract]]  Hospital managements face more and more competitions and many of them always face lots of difficulties and the challenges in recent years. Therefore, decision makers always think of how to promote and upgrade their servicequality in order to strengthen their competence ability and this is the key topic that is concerned by the decision makers. This research has been done tostudy the hospital service quality & hospital promotion by choosing the public population. The results shown five important findings as follow: 1. The key factors that hospital service quality effect to the public hospitalselection in descending order (1). doctors medical skill and expertiseknowledge, doctor’s medical ethics and examination attitude,(2).the treatment course and its effectiveness,(3). the service attitude and the expertise knowledge of nursing staffs. 2.     [[abstract]]  隨著醫療科技的進步及養生保健概念盛行,人類壽命延長,而臺灣高齡化日趨嚴重,因此需更多的居家照顧服務員來協助有需要的家庭共同照顧老年人、失能者及需被照顧者,以減輕家庭照顧者的心理及經濟上的負擔,居家照顧服務員對家庭扮演著非常重要的角色,所以她(他)們的服務狀況及心理感受,是需受到重視的。本研究目的主要是探討臺灣居家照顧服務員的人格特質、情緒勞動、工作滿意度與心理幸福感之間的關係。  本研究透過Google網路進行問卷調查,蒐集在嘉義地區臺灣原籍的居家照顧服務員共計401份有效問卷,以SPSS及SmartPLS軟體作為統計分析工具,並運用敘述性統計分析、因素分析、信度分析、獨立樣本T檢定、單因子變異數分析、相關分析及結構方程模型分析等統計方法進行研究假設之檢驗。本研究主要分析結果: (1)部份背景變項對人格特質、情緒勞動、工作滿意度與心理幸福感具有顯著影響、(2)人格特質對情緒勞動具有顯著正向相關、(3)情緒勞動對工作滿意度與心理幸福感皆具有顯正向相關、(4)工作滿意度對心理幸福感具有顯著正向相關、(5)情緒勞動中的深層偽裝對人格特質中的嚴謹性與心理幸福感之間具有中介效果。[[abstract]]  With the advancement of medical technology and the prevalence of health care concepts, people are living longer, and the aging population issue in Taiwan is becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, the demand forhome care service workers is growing. These providers assist families in caring for the elderly, disabled individuals, and others in need, helping to alleviate both psychological and economic burdens on family caregivers. Home care service workers play a crucial role in families, so their service conditions and psychological feelings deserve attention. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations among job satisfaction, personality traits, emotional labor, and psychological well-being of home care workers in Taiwan. This research utilized a questionnaire survey through the Google network, garnering a total of 401 valid responses from home care service worekers in Chiayi County and City. SPSS software used to perform statistical analyses such as descriptive statistics analysis, factor analysis, independent sample reliability analysis, t-test, one-way variance analysis, and correlation analysis. For structural equation modeling, SmartPLS software was used to test the research hypotheses. This study yielded the following major findings :(1)Certain background variables significantly traits, emotional labor, job satisfaction, and psychological well-being. (2) There was a significant positive correlation between personality traits and emotional labor. (3)  Emotional labor demonstrated significant positive correlations with both job satisfaction and psychological well-being. (4) A significant positive correlation existed between job satisfaction and psychological well-being. (5) Deep acting in emotional labor mediates the relationship between conscientiousness and psychological well-being
