Sensor synchronization for AR applications
In this paper, we give a brief introduction to the sensor synchronization problem, highlight how the choice of hardware affects what synchronization methods can be applied, and present our ongoing research on sensor synchronization. Our work is based on estimating timestamps on the host processor, using a method suitable for mobile phones and other low-cost consumer grade devices since it does not require special hardware support. We also describe an experiment to measure sensor synchronization performance using a simple calibration rig. Our initial results show that the estimated timestamps provide a stable synchronization and a clear improvement in synchronization accuracy compared to the direct method of using sample arrival times as timestamps. Detergent market research & market entry plan for Haarla Oy
This thesis was commissioned by Haarla Oy. The company has been in the chemistry business for decades, providing customers with raw materials, mostly in Finland and Europe. They have not had segmented detergent side for their chemistry operations, and now they wanted to differentiate the segment. The objective was to research the detergent industry market in Finland and make a market entry plan for Haarla.
The author works for Haarla himself, being the person hired to expand the chemical side. He has familiarized himself with Haarla’s operations and
customers by working for the company. The author has idea of the market’s trends, values, and perceptions.
Based on the research, it was found that the Finnish detergent manufacturing industry is competitive but standing on strong foundations.
The findings suggest that Haarla has capacity to enter the desired detergent manufacturing supplier market. By utilizing their strong economic situation, Haarla can expand to desired detergent market. To maximize their potential,
Haarla must work toward achieving representations and focusing their efforts where needed as they advance
The L-p-to-L-q boundedness of commutators with applications to the Jacobian operator
Supplying the missing necessary conditions, we complete the characterisation of the L-p -> L-q boundedness of commutators [b, T] of pointwise multiplication and Calderon-Zygmund operators, for arbitrary pairs of 1 q, our results are new even for special classical operators with smooth kernels. As an application, we show that every f is an element of L-p(R-d) can be represented as a convergent series of normalised Jacobians J(u) = det del uof u is an element of (over dot(W))(1,dp)(R-d)(d). Los Quatro – kitarakvartettikonsertin järjestäminen ja toteuttaminen
Opinnäytetyöni käsittelee kitarakvartettimme Los Quatron konserttia. Järjestin konsertin 18.2.2019 Pirkanmaan musiikkiopiston aulassa. Toimin itse konsertin tuottajana, ja kitarakvartetti vastasi itse musiikillisen osuuden harjoittelemisesta ja johtamisesta. Opinnäytetyökonserttiin oli vapaa pääsy ja se saavutti tavoittelemamme yleisömäärän. Taiteellinen osuus oli 40 minuutin mittainen konsertti, joka sisälsi ranskalaista, brasilialaista, saksalaista ja suomalaista kitarakvartetille sävellettyä ja sovitettua musiikkia. Konsertissa soittivat Tuomas Kiiski, Sofia Ondruska, Mikael Wilska ja Jaakko Wirtanen. Kirjallisessa osiossa keskityn konsertin tuottamiseen, teoksiin, säveltäjiin, harjoitteluun ja kitarakvartettitoimintaan.This bachelor's thesis discusses the guitar quartet Los Quatro's concert, which the author is part of. The concert was organised by the author on 18.2.2019 at the lobby of Pirkanmaa Music Institute.
The author produced the concert and was part of the team who was in charge of music and rehearsing. The concert had a free entry and the number of listeners was as expected. The production was 40 minutes long and included French, Brazilian, German and Finnish guitar quartet compositions and arrangements. The guitarists performing in the concert were Tuomas Kiiski, Sofia Ondruska, Mikael Wilska and Jaakko Wirtanen. Processing of novel nickel free stainless steel by laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing
Additive manufacturing (AM), also commonly known as 3D-printing is a modern manufacturing technology for building products using computer aided design (CAD) models in a layer-by-layer fashion, thereby allowing complex geometries to be produced which might be difficult or even impossible to manufacture traditionally. One of the most widely used AM techniques, especially to build metal products, is laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) which uses laser to melt material in powder form to create solid parts in a layer wise fashion. As it is with any manufacturing process, the L-PBF produced part quality is strongly dependent on its numerous processing parameters. Therefore, depending on L-PBF process parameters, the produced parts’ characteristics such as density, surface quality, microstructure, properties, etc. can vary widely. These parameters can be related to laser, scanning strategy, powder, and both build plate and powder bed temperatures. Finding optimal building parameters can be very difficult since there are numerous variables in the L-PBF process. Making the process reliably repeatable is one of the biggest current challenges of L-PBF to reach the potential of being industrially worthy manufacturing method.
Stainless steels are widely used material group in everyday utensils and in many industrial sectors. Great part of stainless steels include nickel which can cause health hazards and is an expensive element. Due to health issues related to nickel usage, there have been efforts to reduce its utilization especially in products used for biomedical application. Research on processing nickel free steels by L-PBF is in very initial stage. Nickel free steels have many applications in various industries, especially in health technology sector. Since L-PBF has already been identified as a potential manufacturing method to support various health technology business sectors such as biomedical implants, it is worth looking at how L-PBF can be used to process medically relevant Nickel free stainless steels.
Therefore, in this study, novel stainless-steel powder with negligible Nickel content (hence Nickel free) was processed using Aconity3d MIDI+ L-PBF machine. Several different L-PBF process parameter combinations were studied to get different volume energy density (VED) to find out optimal combinations to produce dense and deformation free specimens. The study identified laser power, scanning speed and hatching distance as the key process parameters and were optimized. Moreover, the study also investigated the effect of the support structures on specimen deformation and density.
Small cuboid shaped specimens were successfully produced with multiple parameter combinations. Defects were seen in lower VED and higher VED specimens. In lower VED specimens delamination and cracking were commonly observed and in higher VED specimens over melting was significant. Four different parameter combinations yielding defect free specimens were chosen for further examinations. Although not in the scope of this study, there were specimens printed for mechanical testing with the chosen combinations for further investigation. The microstructure and phase composition of these specimens was examined in this work. In as-built condition, the austenitic phase was present in small amount, however it was significantly increased through appropriate post-process heat treatments
Työmaavesien hallintasuunnitelman kehittäminen rakennusyrityksessä
Opinnäytetyö tehtiin NCC Suomi Oy:lle. Työn aiheena oli rakennustyömaan vedenhallintaan tutustuminen ja sen kehittäminen.
Tavoitteena työlle oli tutustua perusteellisesti työmaavesien päästöihin, niihin vaikuttaviin lakeihin ja vesienkäsittelymenetelmiin sekä saada aikaan yleiskuva työmaavesien hallinnasta ja miettiä mahdollisia kehitysmahdollisuuksista yrityksen käytettäviksi.
Teoriamateriaalina käytettiin opinnäytetöitä, ympäristöhallinnon tutkimuksia, RT-kortteja, kaupunkien hulevesioppaita, kirjallisuusselvityksiä, tuoteselosteita ja yrityksen omaa tietokantaa. Kolmella yrityksen työmaalla vierailtiin keräämässä aineistoa käytetyistä vesienhallintamenetelmistä.
Työn tuloksena selvisi työmaan vesien yleisimmät päästöt ja niiden vaikutus lähiympäristöön. Työssä käsiteltiin myös mahdollisia kehityskohtia yrityksen toimintaan vesien hallinnan parissa ja sopivia vesienkäsittelymenetelmiä työmaille käytettäväksi.
Työstä voi olla apua NCC Suomi Oy:lle ympäristösuunnitelman päivittämisessä, työmaiden päästöjen kartoittamisessa, sopivien vesienkäsittelymenetelmien valitsemisessa ja vesiin liittyvien lupien haussa.This Bachelor’s thesis was commissioned by NCC Suomi Oy. The purpose of the thesis was to examine and develop water management on construction sites.
The aim was to get thoroughly acquainted with the discharges caused by water on the construction sites including the laws that govern these discharges and the methods to treat these waters. Another aim was to get a general picture of managing the construction site waters and to consider points that require improving.
The sources used for the theoretical background were other theses, studies conducted by the environment authorities, RT-guidelines, cities’ storm water guides, literature studies, product labels and the company’s own database. Three construction sites were also visited to gather some material on water treating methods used.
As a result of the thesis, the most common pollutants in construction site waters and their impacts on the nearby environment were found out. Some potential points to be improved in the company’s water management were also discussed and some suitable water treating methods were suggested to be used on construction sites.
The thesis may help NCC Suomi Oy in improving their environmental plan, in finding out the discharges on construction sites, finding the suitable water treating methods and in getting the permits that are related to the construction site discharges
Teollisuusrobotista kollaboratiiviseksi : CE-dokumentointi
Työn tarkoitus oli tuottaa CE-dokumentaatio ABB:n teollisuusrobotille, josta muokattiin kollaboratiivinen robotti sallintakahvojen avulla. Työn toimeksiantaja on Valmet Automotive Oy, joka alkaa valmistaa Uudenkaupungin tehtaallaan Mercedes Benzin GLC-mallin hybridiä, jonka tuotannossa uutta robottia käytetään.
Teollisuusrobotit ovat kehittyneet 1950-luvun lopulta lähtien yhä kätevämmiksi ja älykkäämmiksi. Nykyään robotit ja ihmiset voivat toimia yhteistyössä lähekkäin, jolloin robottia kutsutaan kollaboratiiviseksi. Tällöin robotti huomioi ihmisen hidastamalla nopeutta, pysähtymällä ja pienentämällä voimia.
EU:n konedirektiivillä 2006/42/EY pyritään varmistamaan EU:n alueella yhdenmukainen koneiden turvallisuustaso. Koneen valmistajan tulee vastata koneen täyttävän terveys- ja turvallisuusvaatimukset ja täyttää vaatimustenmukaisuusvakuutus ja merkitä kone CE-merkinnällä.
ABB:n robotti varustettiin paineilmatoimisella tarttujalla, Rittalin nivelletyllä varrella ja sen päähän asennetuilla kahdella ABB:n Jokab sallintakahvalla. Riskejä arvioitiin ja poistettiin sekä pienennettiin työryhmän kesken useaan otteeseen. Järjestelmän suorituskykytaso määriteltiin riskianalyysin perusteella ja suoritustaso SISTEMA-ohjelmalla käytettyjen komponenttien perusteella. Käyttöohjeen tuottamisessa hyödynnettiin työryhmän kommenttien lisäksi tuotannon ja kunnossapidon henkilöstön mielipiteitä.
Työn lopputuloksena saatiin laitteesta EY-vaatimustenmukaisuusvaatimus sekä CE-merkintä laitteeseen.The aim of the thesis was to produce CE documentation to the ABB’s industrial robot which was modulated with admittance handles to become a collaborative robot. The thesis was commissioned by Valmet Automotive Group. Valmet Automotive Group is starting to manufacture Mercedes Benz GLC hybrid at Uusikaupunki plant and the robot will be used in the hybrid production line.
Industrial robots have been evolving since late 1950s to handier and more intelligent. At present robots and humans can work together close to each other. In this case the robot is called a collaborative robot. A collaborative robot acknowledges humans by slowing down, stopping and reducing its forces.
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC is supposed to ensure an equal machinery safety level in the EU area. The manufacturer of the machine must ensure that the machine fulfills the health and safety requirements. They also need to fill in the declaration of conformity and make the CE marking for the machine.
ABB’s robot was equipped with a pneumatic gripper, Rittal’s jointed arm and two ABB’s Jokab admittance handles at the end of the arm. Risks were assessed and deleted as well as reduced together with work group in several occasions. The required performance level of the system was determined based on the risk analysis and the performance level was determined with SISTEMAapplication based on the used components. The work group’s comments as well as the opinions of the production and maintenance staff were utilized in producing the instructions for use.
The result of the thesis was the declaration of conformity and the CE-marking for the device
Some remarks on convex body domination
Convex body domination is an important elaboration of the technique of sparse domination that has seen significant development and applications over the past ten years. In this paper, we present an abstract framework for convex body domination, which also applies to Banach space-valued functions, and yields matrix-weighted norm inequalities in this setting. We explore applications to "generalised commutators", obtaining new examples of bounded operators among linear combinations of compositions of the form aiTbi, where ai, bi are pointwise multipliers and T is a singular integral operator.(c) 2023 The Author(s).
