Особливості вікових змін рівнів тиреоїдних і статевих гормонів спонтанно гіпертензивних щурів
Full text linkThe course of development and progression of arterial hypertension (AH) is influenced by many factors, including the functional state of the endocrine system.
The aim of the study is to determine the content of thyrotropin, free forms of thyroid hormones, total testosterone and estradiol in the blood serum of spontaneously hypertensive rats of the SHR line of different age groups.
Materials and methods. The studies were performed on male rats aged 9 and 24 months. All animal experiments were performed in accordance with the guidelines of the EU Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. White outbred rats served as normotensive controls, and spontaneously hypertensive rats of the SHR line served as a classical model of hypertension. The study of the content of thyrotropin, free forms of thyroid hormones, total testosterone and estradiol was carried out on a microplate enzyme immunoassay analyzer "Stat Fax 3200" (Awareness Technology inc., USA) using standard commercial test kits from the company "Hema" (Ukraine).
Results. The levels of pituitary thyroid-stimulating hormone, free triiodothyronine and total testosterone were significantly higher in SHR rats of both age groups compared to age-matched controls. The level of free thyroxine remained unchanged in all groups. The level of estradiol in the serum of spontaneously hypertensive rats was significantly higher (by 60%) than that of normotensive rats.
Conclusions. SHR rats aged 9 and 24 months are characterized by neuroendocrine features in the form of subclinical hypothyroidism, significantly increased levels of free triiodothyronine and total testosterone, which may affect the premature development of cardiovascular diseases. The level of estradiol was significantly higher only in 9-month-old SHR rats, which may explain the protective effect of these hormones on the state of the cardiovascular system of young rats with hypertension.На перебіг розвитку та прогресування артеріальної гіпертензії (АГ) впливають багато факторів, в тому числі функціональний стан ендокринної системи.
Мета дослідження – визначення вмісту тиреотропного, вільних форм тиреоїдних гормонів, загального тестостерону та естрадіолу в сироватці крові спонтанно гіпертензивних щурів лінії SHR різних вікових груп.
Матеріали та методи. Дослідження виконані на щурах-самцях віком 9– та 24–місяців. Усі експерименти на тваринах проводили відповідно до керівних принципів Директиви ЄС 2010/63 / EU про захист використовуваних тварин для наукових цілей. Білі безпородні щури були в якості нормотензивного контролю, спонтанно гіпертензивні щури лінії SHR – в якості класичної моделі АГ. Дослідження вмісту тиреотропного, вільних форм тиреоїдних гормонів, тестостерону загального та естрадіолу проведено на мікропланшетному імуноферментному аналізаторі «Stat Fax 3200» (Awareness Technology inc., USA) з використанням стандартних комерційних тест-наборів фірми «Хема» (Україна).
Результати. Рівні тиреотропного гормону гіпофіза, трийодтироніну вільного та рівень загального тестостерону були значуще вищими у щурів SHR обох вікових груп в порівнянні з групами контролю відповідного віку. Рівень тироксину вільного залишався без істотних змін в усіх групах. Рівень естрадіолу в сироватці крові спонтанно гіпертензивних щурів був значуще вищим (на 60 %) від аналогічного показника нормотензивних щурів.
Висновки. Щури SHR віком 9-ти та 24-міс. характеризуються нейроендокринними особливостями у вигляді субклінічного гіпотиреозу, значуще підвищених рівнів трийодтироніну вільного та загального тестостерону, що може впливати на передчасний розвиток серцево-судинних захворювань. Рівень естрадіолу був значно вищим тільки у 9-ти місячних щурів SHR, що може обумовлювати захисну дію цих гормонів на стан серцево-судинної системи молодих щурів з А
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
