Humayun Kabir, Men and Rivers, and Faridpur
In the history of South Asian literature in English, Men and Rivers is the third fictional work written by a Muslim author after Rokeya's Sultana's Dream and Ahmed Ali's Twilight in Delhi (1940). Men and Rivers is a literary work of great merit though more research needs to be conducted on the work to appreciate its value by examining various thematic and stylistic features. Through Men and Rivers, Hamayun Kabir conferred on Faridpur literary immortality. I believe the novel will continue to make the district memorable and special to its readers for a very long time
Listening to Kabir: Pluralism, Paradox, and the Kabir Panth
The fifteenth century poet-saint Kabir is one of the most prominent figures in Indian history and Hindi literature. Kabir was born to low-caste parents who had recently converted from Hinduism to Islam. However, Kabir grew up to reject both Hinduism and Islam and their claims on absolute truth and instead wrote about a God that transcends all cultural differences. This paper examines the ways in which Kabir challenged traditional norms and transcended cultural and religious boundaries. Kabir was such a venerated figure that an entire sect, the Kabir Panth, emerged after his death to practice and live out Kabir’s philosophy of spiritual oneness. This paper also examines how the Kabir Panth brings together individuals of different religious backgrounds and contributes to religious pluralism and diversity in India today. The findings of this paper are the result of archival research and study as well as interviews conducted at two Kabir Panth monasteries in Varanasi and with members of the sect in Madhya Pradesh. Finally, this paper seeks to piece together India’s rich history of religious pluralism, the formation of the Kabir Panth (which crosses multiple religious boundaries), and Kabir’s message of unity and brotherhood despite caste, religious, and gender differences
Kabir, femininity, and mysticism
While the paradigmatic gopis of Krishna bhakti clearly set the model for the soteriological strategies of the devotees, the importance of femininity in the nirgun̩ tradition is more ambiguous and often unacknowledged. This chapter will focus on the way different aspects of a woman’s life are instrumentalized by bhakti, exemplified by the pads of Kabir. It will serve to open a discussion about the extent to which they represent the appropriation of a stock of images, common throughout the poetic landscape of North India or whether they shape in more concrete and subtle ways the emotional experience of the audienc

"Says Kabir": Unbounded Sounds
Kabir, the weaver-poet, has continued to permeate many facets of Indian society since his life in the fifteenth century. The poetry attributed to him is a large body of work existing in oral, print, recording, and other forms that encompasses much more today than what Kabir said in his lifetime. Between the biting social criticisms and intimate devotional messages, the poetry bridges many ideological gaps, ensuring its longevity. Through fieldwork across India, I came to understand Kabir as a musical tradition, rooted in poetry, that continually renews its sonic character to speak to new generations while maintaining a heterogeneous variety of styles (folk, classical, semi-classical, and more). Predominantly studied previously as a text-based tradition, a focus on the range of musical styles and content that Kabir encompasses enables us to understand its popularity across religious, socioeconomic, and generational divisions and provides insights into Kabir's place in today's North Indian society
Treating COVID-19 with Anticoagulation Based on Kabir Bleeding Risk Score
Three large randomized clinical trials named the ATTACC, ACTIV-4a, and REMAP-CAP were terminated early as these trials showed use of therapeutic anticoagulation among non-critical COVID-19 patients increased the probability of survival to hospital discharge as well as reduced the need for cardiovascular or respiratory organ support. These clinical trials also showed when a COVID-19 patient presents with a critical stage, therapeutic anticoagulation does not provide any benefit. This study retrospectively evaluated the COVID-19 admission at Jackson Hospital, Alabama, USA from June 15th, 2020, to June 15th, 2021. The study developed COVID-19 mechanism of death and found that anticoagulation doses can be titrated up or down based on D-Dimer trends and many patients do not need therapeutic anticoagulation, rather an intermediate dose (Lovenox 0.5mg/kg subQ BID or higher dose) anticoagulation can be sufficient for those who have a higher risk of bleeding. The author developed the Kabir bleeding risk score-based treatment strategies for COVID-19 patients which can be visited by clicking on the following link:
