The level of fruit maturity can be known based on physical characteristics, including the parameters of size, weight, skin color, flavor and the level of hardness of the fruit flesh. Determining the level of fruit maturity based on physical characteristics has a weakness that is subjective and inconsistent. Making indicators based on natural dyes, namely anthocyanins from butterfly pea flower to determine the level of acidity of the fruit. The purpose of this research is the use of anthocyanins pigments as an indicator of fruit acidity level to determine fruit maturity. This research is a laboratory experimental and qualitative descriptive analysis with stages; Sample Extraction, Indicator Making, Indikator Application, Fruit Acidity Testing, Data Analysis. Based on the results of te study, there were quite visible color differences on toothpicks after being inserted into a sample of fruit with a sweet taste and a sample of fruit with a sour taste. The indicator shows that fruit with a sour taste (pH < 3) changes color from blue to reddish purple, the taste is not too sour (pH ≥ 5) does not experience a significant color change. In conclusion, anthocyanins in butterfly pea flowers can be used as an indicator solution because they have a blue color at neutral pH, reddish at pH = 2, the red color fades at pH = 3 and 4, and there is no color change at pH ≥ 5

Gregor Samsa and Kafka’s Emerging Adulthood

Key Words: emerging adulthood, psychoanalysis, alienation, Franz Kafka, MetamorphosisKafka’s Metamorphosis is often seen as an autobiographical fiction and, undoubtedly, one of the most distinguished literary products in the modern era. He himself happened to write the work in the age of twenty nine, and its theme of Kafkaesque alienation is invariably intriguing and versatile to dissect. This study attempts to point out how the profound theme of alienation in Metamorphosis is actually the aftermath of Kafka’s failure in dealing with emerging adulthood. Further, this study aims at analyzing the importance of GregorSamsa as the ‘mirror’ of Kafka dealing with emerging adulthood, the expressions of Kafka’s emerging adulthood in GregorSamsa, and the redefinition of alienation in Metamorphosis regarding Kafka’s emerging adulthood.  This study presents an analysis on how Kafka as the author of Metamorphosis had failed experiencing the features of emerging adulthood, so that it contributed to the creation of GregorSamsa, Gregor’s inescapably bleak fate, and the theme of alienation in Metamorphosis. Sources of data are collected from a novella Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and Kafka’s letter entitled Letter to My Father. Along with the process of collecting the data are psychoanalysis and emerging adulthood as the theoretical framework used in this study. The latter findings revealed that not only does the presence of GregorSamsa is crucial from the standpoint of a main character, but he also bore many allegorical features leading to the expressions of Kafka’s Emerging adulthood. The allegorical features then symbolize Kafka’s inability to undergo the five features of emerging adulthood perfectly, mostly in consequence of his bad relationship with his father. Therefore, Metamorphosis can be regarded as an allegorical piece that delivers Kafka’s fear and anguish as a ‘troubled’ and ‘isolated’ emerging adult in the past.In conclusion, the existence of Gregor Samsa and Kafka’s Emerging adulthood is strongly interrelated to the extent it affects one of the most essential aspects of Metamorphosis, that is, the theme of alienation. This study is expected to be the brand new insight for psychoanalytical criticism which brings the theory of developmental psychology to light. For future researchers of Metamorphosis, it is suggested to obtain new meanings and interpretations by extending this study or employ other branches of psychology

The growing awareness of delivering public services into more costumer-oriented minded triggers the public organisations to manage their assets professionally. Building assets are one of the resources owned by the public organisations that need to be maintained. Maintenance departments are part of the public body that have responsibilities to make sure that the building assets are functioning well and can perform for what it is designed for. The problems arise when there are many buildings that should be managed within different functions and types; such as monumental buildings, schools, offices, etc. creates complexities. Furthermore, the nature of public organisations is different compared to private organisations. Public organisations must follow the law and regulations, facilitating stakeholders’ opinions and politics, and satisfying public. It is questioned whether the maintenance departments are capable to perform the maintenance activities professionally. In order to reveal the capabilities of an organisation a measurement tool is needed. One of the measurement tools that can disclose the professionalism of organisations is a maturity model. With maturity model, an organisation can understand their current maturity level and design their strategy to reach the next level. Furthermore, this is a self-assessment tool that is simple to use. A maturity model can consist of several levels of five, six, or seven, that will depend on the desired function. It is believed that the higher the level, the more professional is the organisation. Several quality management tools are being used by many organisations to enhance their professionalism, for instance the EFQM model. The EFQM model is commonly used in Europe that has components of “enablers” and “results”. By using those components, organisations can value their performances and processes. The main purpose of this research is to develop a maturity model that can measure the capabilities of maintenance departments. By having this tool that specifically designed for building maintenance departments, they can design strategies that fit their goals. Furthermore, to narrow down the research, the subjects of Planned preventive maintenance and Responsive maintenance are involved. To develop a maturity model as an adaptation of the EFQM model, there are several steps to do. Firstly, the literature reviews are conducted. The topics that have to be explored are the types of maturity models, the EFQM model, and the activities of maintenance departments include the Planned preventive maintenance and Responsive maintenance. There are two maturity models that become main references; the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) by Paulk et.al (1993) and the Public Commissioning Maturity Model (PCMM) by Hermans et.al (2014). The main important aspects of the maintenance departments are then summarised and linked to those maturity models and the EFQM enablers. The result is the proposed maturity model. Secondly, the first round interviews are conducted to get opinions and feedbacks from the experts about the proposed maturity model. This will find the relevancy of the key aspects in the model. The results of these interviews are the proposed maturity model and maturity levels. The third step in this research is to design an assessment sheet that can be used to measure the maturity level. This proposed assessment sheets are consisting of 26 questions with five multiple choices for each question. The fourth step is to carry on the second round interviews to explore whether the proposed assessment sheet is relevant to test maintenance departments. The results of the interviews improve the questions and the multiple answers, which are improving the maturity levels. Finally, as final products of this research, a maturity model for maintenance departments and an assessment sheet are formed. The final maturity model consists of five main aspects, 20 sub aspects, and five levels for every main aspects and sub aspects. The final assessment sheet is consisting of 27 questions with five multiple answers per question.Design and Construction ManagementReal Estate & HousingArchitecture and The Built Environmen

================================================================================================================================= Blind people are people who have complete or partial limitations in seeing. According to WHO, there are 285 million blind people, 39 million of whom are totally blind. The blind have difficulty in carrying out activities, every human activity will definitely involve the sense of sight because it is related to objects. Blind people can recognize objects through various ways, such as touch, hearing and smell. However, these three methods have their respective limitations. Touch cannot be used to recognize objects that are far away, while hearing and smell cannot be used to recognize all types of objects. Therefore, the author will use smartphones as currently one of the technologies frequently used by the public for system implementation. With object recognition technology, the author will develop an application-based system that can be used in real-time to detect objects outdoors. The author will use an existing dataset, namely the COCO dataset, with a model that can be implemented and works well in mobile applications. The results of the experiments that the author carried out so that the application was able to work well, the author used the SSD-Mobilenet V1 model algorithm, then set the confidence level to more than 60% so that the objects that were read were more accurate, this application can also be downloaded on Android 13 and above and cannot be used on Android 13 and below, the lighting level also affects the accuracy of the objects detected, where in bright conditions the application performance is better than in dark conditions for moving objects

    No full text
This study reports on the evaluation of biodegradation and biosorption mechanism of indigenous bacteria on azo dye decolorization. The bacterial strains were screened for their ability in decolorizing of selected toxic azo dyes in aqueous solution. Lysinibacillus fusiformis W1B6 showed the highest decolorizing of about 96% of methyl red within 2 h, with the specific growth rate of 0.273/h. The optimum decolorization under aerobic condition was achieved at pH 7.5, 30 ± 2°C, inoculum 10% (v/v), and initial dye concentration of 100 mg/L. Spectrum analysis confirmed biodegradation as the principal mechanism of decolorization, although biosorption also occurred. Extracellular and intracellular azoreductase, laccase, and lignin peroxidase plays a role in the oxidoreductive mechanism of decolorization. The absorption isotherms fitted with the Langmuir equation and the reaction kinetics of methyl red decolorization followed a pseudo first-order. © The Author(s) 2019

    No full text
The Qur'an is the holy book of Muslims and is famous for its beautiful texts. Its beautiful words cannot be matched by any literary work. To understand the ushlub of al-Qur'an requires a special discipline, namely stylistic studies. Stylistics is the study of language style. In this research, the author focuses on the letter at-Takwir by analyzing stylistics based on its phonological aspects. This research is a type of library research with a qualitative descriptive method. The result of this research is that in surat at-Takwir, most of the verse sounds use majhur sounds. Majhur sounds are sounds that have sound vibrations when spoken. This is in accordance with the context of the meaning of Surah at-Takwir, which is the depiction of the Day of Judgment so devastating that it makes a person's psychological condition shaken when he hears it
