Measurement of temperature and gas flow velocity in test conditions of room corner test
Výsledkem práce je popis získaných informací z matematických modelů i požárního experimentu a porovnání výsledků v jednotlivých matematických modelech a vybraného modelu s požárním experimentem. V neposlední řadě diplomová práce udává směr pro možnou navazující výzkumnou činnost.The goal of the thesis is to summarize the problems of temperature and gas velocity measurement in a Room Corner Test, especially the thesis focuses on device types used during measurement, measurement principles and required unit conversion, as well as options and the impact of the attachment of the measuring devices, namely fastening thermocouples to the surface of the ceiling. Everything was handled both theoretically and practically: theoretically by using literature which describes individual measuring devices and provides the methodology of testing and by creating mathematical models in FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) software, which is based on the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. A small-scale Room Corner Test was created in mathematical models and the necessary measuring devices were defined. The practical part consists of a performing a fire experiment based on one mathematical model. Mentioned methods of attachment of the devices measuring surface temperature were observed here. A description of the information acquired through mathematical models and the fire experiment is the result of the work, and also the comparison of the results in individual mathematical models and a selected model with a fire experiment. Last but not least, the thesis gives the direction for possible follow-up research activity
Measurement of CP asymmetry in D0 → K−K+ decays
A measurement of the time-integrated CP asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D0→K−K+ is performed using pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The flavour of the charm meson at production is determined from the charge of the pion in D⁎+→D0π+ and D⁎−→D‾0π− decays. The time-integrated CP asymmetry ACP(K−K+) is obtained assuming negligible CP violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured D0→K−π+, D+→K−π+π+ and D+→K‾0π+ decays used as calibration channels. It is found to be ACP(K−K+)=(0.14±0.15 (stat)±0.10 (syst))%. A combination of this result with previous LHCb measurements yields ACP(K−K+)=(0.04±0.12 (stat)±0.10 (syst))%,ACP(π−π+)=(0.07±0.14 (stat)±0.11 (syst))%. These are the most precise measurements from a single experiment. The result for ACP(K−K+) is the most precise determination of a time-integrated CP asymmetry in the charm sector to date, and neither measurement shows evidence of CP asymmetry
Observation of the Decay Ξ − b → p K − K −
Decays of the Ξ[subscript b][superscript -] and Ω[subscript b][superscript -] baryons to the charmless final states ph[superscript -]h[superscript ′-], where h[superscript (′)] denotes a kaon or pion, are searched for with the LHCb detector. The analysis is based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at center-of-mass energies √s =7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb [superscript -1]. The decay Ξ [subscript b][superscript -] → pK[superscript -]K[superscript -] is observed with a significance of 8.7 standard deviations, and evidence at the level of 3.4 standard deviations is found for the Ξ [subscript b] [superscript -]→pK[superscript -]π[superscript -] decay. Results are reported, relative to the B[superscript -] →K[superscript +]K[superscript -]K[superscript -] normalization channel, for the products of branching fractions and b-hadron production fractions. The branching fractions of Ξ[subscript b][superscript -] →pK[superscript -]π[superscript -] and Ξ[subscript b][superscript -] → pπ[superscript -]π[superscript -] relative to Ξ[subscript b][superscript -] →pK[superscript -]K[superscript -] decays are also measured.National Science Foundation (U.S.
Observation of the Annihilation Decay Mode B-0 -> K+K-
A search for the B-0 -> K+K- decay is performed using pp-collision data
collected by LHCb. The data set corresponds to integrated luminosities
of 1.0, 2.0 fb(-1) at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 TeV,
respectively. This decay is observed for the first time with a
significance of more than 5 standard deviations. The analysis also
results in an improved measurement of the branching fraction for the
B-s(0) -> pi(+)pi(-) decay. The measured branching fractions are B(B-0
-> K+K-) = (7.80 +/- 1.27 +/- 0.81 +/- 0.21) x 10(-8), B(B-s(0) ->
pi(+)p(-)) = (6.91 +/- 0.54 +/- 0.63 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.40) x 10(-7). The
first uncertainty is statistical the second is systematic the third is
due to the uncertainty on the B-0 -> K+pi(-) branching fraction used as
a normalization. For the B-s(0) mode the fourth accounts for the
uncertainty on the ratio of the probabilities for b quarks to hadronize
into B-s(0), B-0 mesons

Measurement of CP observables in B-+/- -> D(*)K-+/- and B-+/- -> D(*)pi(+/-) decays
Measurements of CP observables in B-+/- -> D(*)K-+/- and B-+/- -> D(*)pi(+/-) decays are presented, where D(*) indicates a neutral Dor D* meson that is an admixture of D(*)(0) and (D) over bar(*)(0) states. Decays of the D* meson to the D pi(0)and D gamma final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon, resulting in distinctive shapes in the Bcandidate invariant mass distribution. Decays of the D meson are fully reconstructed in the K-+/-pi(-/+), K+K- and pi(+)pi(-) final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged Bmesons produced in ppcollisions collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0, 1.0 and 2.0fb- 1taken at centre- of- mass energies of root s = 7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. The study of B-perpendicular to -> D*K-perpendicular to and B-perpendicular to -> D*pi(perpendicular to) decays using a partial reconstruction method is the first of its kind, while the measurement of B-+/- -> DK +/- and B-+/- -> D pi(+/-) decays is an update of previous LHCb measurements. The B-+/- -> DK +/- results are the most precise to date. (c) 2017 The Author. Published by Elsevier B. V
