A successful model of regional healthcare information exchange in Japan: Case Study in Kagawa Prefecture
No full textIn this study, we focused on analysis of healthcare data exchange over the network. For the advance of broadband capability development, many governments expect online medical information exchange between medical institutions. Japanese government also has tried to deploy ICT in the healthcare field. In Japan, many healthcare ICT projects started, but almost of all the projects face many issues and failed to continue. This situation caused us to clarify the success factor of healthcare information exchange network. For inspecting the success factors, we analyzed information access of healthcare systems in Kagawa prefecture of Japan. Kagawa prefecture is one of the most advance areas for healthcare information technology. We analyzed four medical ICT projects in Kagawa prefecture: K-MIX, Critical Pathway for Diabetes, E-prescription, and PHR. In addition, we inspected characteristics of exchanged data in the network, and stakeholder involved in these projects. This analysis lets us find various types of healthcare ICT projects. Characteristic of data processed in the projects caused differences of characteristic of the projects. On the other hand, multiple systems process same data, though the project does not share the data itself. Considering various types of medical information exchanges projects, we propose classification and standard format of exchanged data according to their characteristic are critical for efficient business deployment. --e-Health,regional healthcare information exchange,EHR

No full textEl presente estudio tuvo como objetivo dise\uf1ar una gu\ueda instruccional sobre la visita domiciliaria dirigida a los estudiantes del Programa de Enfermer\ueda del Decanato de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado. Metodol\uf3gicamente se enmarca dentro de la modalidad de proyecto factible y apoyado en una investigaci\uf3n de campo tipo descriptivo. La muestra estuvo conformada por el 100% de la poblaci\uf3n, es decir cuarenta (40) estudiantes del VI Semestre de Enfermer\ueda. Para recolectar la informaci\uf3n se aplic\uf3 un cuestionario estructurado en diecis\ue9is (16) \uedtems con respuestas dicot\uf3micas. La validez del mismo se realiz\uf3 a trav\ue9s de la t\ue9cnica de juicio de expertos y se determin\uf3 su confiabilidad a trav\ue9s del coeficiente K de Richardson, los resultados demostraron que la escala es altamente confiable, obteni\ue9ndose un valor de 0.97. Para el an\ue1lisis de los datos se utilizaron los elementos de la estad\uedstica descriptiva y se presentaron en cuadros y gr\ue1ficos de barras. Entre las conclusiones se determin\uf3 que la propuesta representa una opci\uf3n viable en formato atractivo al ritmo de los cambios tecnol\uf3gicos y cient\uedficos para buscar, seleccionar e interpretar de manera cr\uedtica la promoci\uf3n de la salud dado que la visita domiciliaria implica la participaci\uf3n de la enfermera basada en m\ue9todos y t\ue9cnicas pr\ue1cticas a partir de la revalorizaci\uf3n del proceso educativo. Who Is Ms. K?: The Identity of a Christian Widow Who Was a Devoted Volunteer Home-Helper in Post-War Japan
No full textAbstract In 1974 Yoshimasa Takeuchi wrote a paper about a woman he called Ms. K who lived in Ueda City. The present paper examines the role that Ms. K played as a pioneer home-helper in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, which is the birthplace of home-help services in Japan. The author visited Ueda City about 25 times to collect data and conduct interviews, and gathered and analyzed information about Ms. K. On August 16, 2007, the author was able to interview a woman named "Y" residing in Ueda City who, the author believes, was the subject of Takeuchi's study. Furthermore, on August 15 and 17, 2007, the author met Takeuchi and confirmed the content of Takeuchi's paper, along with details of the situation at the time of his writing. The author's research led to conclusions that were quite different from what was found by previous studies. This paper points out contradictions between Takeuchi's description of Ms. K and the new facts found by the author as follows:1)Ms. K, who was regarded as a model home-helper, was the second daughter of Donpuu Kaneko, Ms. Y.2)Because Ms. Y began volunteering as a home-helper in 1959, and the services had started in 1956 in Ueda City, we cannot call her the inaugurator of the system.3)Ms. Y asserted that she was working as an insurance agent and was engaged in volunteer activities as a home-helper in the neighborhood during her free time around 1959.4)Mr. Donpuu Kaneko was a district welfare commissioner, and received many awards for his senryu, a kind of haiku. He did not receive awards for his social work. Takeuchi asserts that Kaneko's daughter, Ms. Y, referred to in Takeuchi's paper as Ms. K., did receive awards for her social work, but she denies this.5)Ms. K's parents' residence at that time was not in Kimachi, but in Fukuromachi.6)Ms. K and Takeuchi were members of the same church(Ueda St. Michael and All Angels' Church), and had met many times.7)The descriptions in Takeuchi's paper are based partially on hearsay and speculation.9KJ00008009199departmental bulletin pape
