〔総説〕Dietary Strategies to Prevent eGFR Decline in Patients with Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, and Hypertension: Implications with and without Cancer

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression is a significant complication in individuals with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. Dietary management plays a pivotal role in preventing estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decline, especially as renal function approaches the moderate CKD threshold (eGFR <45 mL/min/1.73 m2). This review outlines evidence-based dietary strategies aimed at preventing CKD progression in this population, with a specific focus on modifications required in the presence of cancer comorbidities. Key themes include individualized macronutrient distribution, electrolyte monitoring, and the management of cancer-associated nutritional challenges.departmental bulletin pape

In Consideration of Young Women and Night Work

While defining “young women” as “women aged from their teens to early 40s, this paper will consider the labor issues and social challenges of “night work” that young women living in urban areas face. This year (2025) marks the 40th anniversary of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act, but since the Heisei Era recession (1990s and early 2000s), in Japanese society, which has not escaped from a sense of closedness, women still face entrenched disparity and discrimination in labor. When considering young women’s labor in particular, this author believes that the existence of night work cannot be separated out from other industries. In this author’s area of research, labor law, there is very little research on night work. References to night work are nowhere to be found among countless labor law texts. Heated clashes of opinions pro and con have been had regarding night work from a moral perspective. Regarding adult entertainment providing sex or sexual services, within the overall category of night work, opinion has been divided broadly between those who criticize the sex industry as sexual exploitation, human rights violations, and sexual violence itself and those who think prostitution and sexual services should be legal like other industries because “sex work is work,” “I decide whether to sell or not,” and other ideas of self-determination. This debate is extremely important, but this paper will not debate the pros or cons of night work but will rather look at the labor reality and social circumstances of those young women who are part of the industry of night work, while examining the issues ensconced there.departmental bulletin pape
