The Author Style of Nuri Bilge Ceylan
U ovome radu analiziram autorski stil jednog od najznačajnijih turskih redatelja, Nurija Bilgea Ceylana. U prvom dijelu uvodim osnovne informacije o redatelju i njegovim filmskim početcima. In my Master thesis I am analyzing the film style of one the most influential Turkish directors, Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The text starts with some basic information about the director and his beginning in filmmaking. After that, I analyze some of the main film elements of his work - themes of loneliness and dissociation, Slow Cinema aesthetics, use of sound, (non) use of dialogue and the influences on his work. After that I analyze three of his films - Distant, Three Monkeys, Winter Sleep. In the conclusion I am summing up my findings and giving my impression of Ceylan's work

Sur les basses surfaces de l'Ile de Ceylan (Lowlands topography in Sri Lanka)
Abstracts. - The Western and Eastern lowlands of Ceylon, although characterized by the same lithological topics, reveal geomorphic features without any analogy. The study of those features do reveal a close relationship between the topography and the climate pattern, the island being divided in a wet and a dry zone.
The only doubtful point in this sequence is the stability of the climate in the past. The author emphasizes the fact that the monsoon contrast in South Asia should have been active since miocene times.Résumé. Reinforcement of the distribution grids to improve the hosting capacity of distributed generation: Multi-objective framework
© 2023 The Author(s)Excessive penetration of renewable energy resources into the distribution grid without additional preventive measures has led to several operational problems. However, most strategies developed to accommodate more renewable energy units suffered from other operational problems. Therefore, further efforts are needed to address the other key vulnerabilities of the grid in addition to maximizing the hosting capacity. In this regard, this study is devoted to a new multi-objective formulation to maximize the hosting capacity and minimize the total energy losses while satisfying the operational constraints and maximizing the energy transferred to off-peak hours. The Multi-Objective Advanced Gray Wolf Optimization (MOAGWO) algorithm is used as a solution tool. The proposed formulation and solution algorithm are tested on IEEE-33-bus and 69-bus medium voltage test systems. The impacts of energy storage systems, voltage regulators, and static var compensators on the hosting capacity and the objective functions are identified using several scenarios. The results showed that the optimal device type and locations depend on the level of DG penetration. Finally, a comparison according to two popular multi-objective performance indices showed that the quality of the Pareto front distribution obtained by MOAGWO was better than the ones obtained with the two other popular heuristic methods
Domestic and mental microworlds : about the hero of the movie "Uzak" by Nuri Bilge Ceylan
The article is an analysis of the movie Uzak by Nuri Bilge Ceylan (2002), in which the author focuses on the main character, Mahmut. The man is hosting a cousin in his flat, who perturbs the routine of his dailiness. Moreover the presence of the guest induces protagonist to pretend someone hi is not in his own house. Describing Mahmut's situation by using categories and terms from sociological reflection, the Author pays attention to psychological implications of the intrusion into someone's everyday life
Endemic instability of ovine babesiosis in Turkey: A country-wide sero-epidemiological study
Ovine babesiosis is an endemic tick-borne disease of small ruminants in the Middle East, European, and some African and Asian countries, including Turkey. This study assessed whether the endemic status of this disease was stable or instable, which is important for disease control efforts. For this aim, 4115 sheep blood samples were collected from 81 cities in the seven geographical regions of Turkey. The diagnosis of Babesia ovis was made using microscopic and serological techniques. Thin blood smears were prepared from anticoagulated venous blood. Serum samples were screened for specific antibodies using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT). Recombinant Babesia ovis secreted antigen 1 (rBoSA1) was used in the ELISA. The antigen slides used in the IFAT were prepared from the B. ovis-infected blood at a high level of parasitemia (5 %). The animals were divided into three groups according to their age: group I (one to six months), group II (6-12 months), and group III (older than one year). The endemic status of B. ovis was determined according to the inoculation rate (h value) calculations. Babesia spp. merozoites were observed in 40 (0.97 %) of the slides. Seropositivity rates were 29.89 % (1230/4115) and 49.16 % (2023/4115) by the ELISA and IFAT, respectively. According to the IFAT results, 31.7 %, 33.6 %, and 52.8 % of the animals were seropositive in groups I, II, and III respectively. The inoculation rates of the animals indicated that the endemic status of ovine babesiosis was mostly instable throughout the country. Endemic stability was found only in group I from four regions (Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia, Aegean, and Mediterranean). Based on these results, the risk of clinical infection due to tick infestation was high when the maternal immunity and non-specific age resistance weakens or disappears. Thus, vaccination is needed to protect sheep against B. ovis infections in Turkey.Academic Staff Training Program Coordination Unit, Selcuk University in Turkey [2015-OYP-109]This study was derived from the PhD thesis prepared by the first author under the supervision of the second author. Micromeria myrtifolia: Essential Oil Composition and Biological Activity
WOS: 000475765700020Detailed chemical composition of the essential oil of Micromeria myrtifolia Boiss. & Hohen., as well as its antioxidant and enzymatic activity, was analyzed. The most abundant constituents of the oil were sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, beta-caryophyllene (40.8%) and alpha-copaene (17.9%), followed by oxygenated sesquiterpene, caryophyllene oxide (13.5 %). Antioxidant activity of the oil was tested via 8 different methods based on reduction of both radicals and stable metal cations. The oil of M. myrtifolia showed weaker, but still comparable activity with the known antioxidants, butylated hydroxyanisole and disodium edetate, that are used as positive controls. In addition, the essential oil of this aromatic plant species revealed strong inhibitory effects against tyrosinase and alpha-amylase. Present results suggest the use of the essential oil of endemic M. myrtifolia in a wide variety of applications in food and pharmacological industries.Ministry of Agriculture, Czech RepublicMinistry of Agriculture, Czech RepublicThe author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This work was supported by project No. RO0418 (sustainable systems and technologies, improving crop production for higher quality of production of food, feed, and raw materials, under conditions of changing climate) funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Czech Republic
