Get PDFDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Jornalismo, Florianópolis, 2010Esta dissertação faz uma análise empírica de notícias publicadas em jornais, de fevereiro de 1959, sobre o incidente no acampamento da construtora Pacheco Fernandes Dantas. Busca-se constatar se este episódio foi apurado jornalisticamente pelos veículos de comunicação impressos da época, comparando os conteúdos publicados. Propõe-se a discussão deste caso na condição de paradigma ou referência para outras ocorrências similares em que o jornalismo deixa de cumprir seu papel social, de investigador e questionador do Poder Público. Assim, discute-se neste trabalho sobre a importância do jornalismo para elucidar ocorrências como esta que foram esquecidas pela historiografia oficial. E, principalmente, sobre a responsabilidade social do jornalista, a partir do rigor da apuração e da verificação, de ser um mediador da realidade e não um mero reprodutor de versões. Discute-se aqui o jornalismo enquanto atividade fundamental para a construção da História e da memória social. Sem o registro imediato do jornalista o trabalho do historiador torna-se mais difícil. O registro do cotidiano realizado pelo jornalista está ligado à construção histórica e à memória social que permanece.This dissertation makes an empirical analysis of news published in newspapers of February 1959, about the incident at the construction camp of Pacheco Fernandes Dantas Company. It aims at searching if this episode was journalistically investigated by the media of that time, through the comparison of the published content. This work proposes the discussion of the case as a paradigm or reference for other similar occurrences in which Journalism fails to fulfill its social role as a government investigator and questioner. Thus, this paper discusses the importance of journalism to elucidate events like this which have been forgotten by the official historiography, and mainly, on the social responsibility of the journalist, through its investigation and verification rigor as a mediator of reality and not a mere version copyist. It discusses the journalism as a fundamental activity for the construction of social memory and history. With no immediate reports of journalist work of the historian becomes more difficult. No full textCésar Pacheco Vélez (1929-1989) fue profesor principal de la Universidad del Pacífico, que recientemente publicó su obra Ensayos de Simpatía. Para comentar el legado de César Pacheco Vélez, y especialmente esta última obra, el Comité Editorial de esta casa de estudios convocó el conversa torio que transcribimos a continuación. Éste se realizó en el Centro de Investigación de la misma y contó con la participación de profesores universitarios de distintas generaciones que conocieron a César Pacheco Vélez.César Pacheco Vélez (1929-1989) was a professor at Universidad del Pacífico, who recently published his book Essays of Sympathy. To comment the legacy of César Pacheco Vélez, and especially his last work, the Editorial Committee of the university convened a discussion group that we transcribe here. Forbiden Gazes: The Trace of the Medusean in Three Texts by Jose Emilio Pacheco
No full textThe present work considers the first short story by Jose Emilio Pacheco (1939-2014), "La sangre de Medusa" (1959), and his short novels El principio del placer (1972) and Las batallas en el desierto (1981), exploring for the first time their connections. The main issue is, on a thematic level, to individuate and analyse the Medusean figures in these texts, the construction of the female characters and of their relationships with male characters based on the narrative articulation of visual dynamics. On a formal level, the Gorgon's marks are traced to the constitutive limit of language. This work also studies the transition from a writing based on the blindness or visual incapacitation - and the consequent impossibility of expression - to a narrative based on a visual complexity, obtained by joining the past perspective of the narrated I and the present one of the narrating I
