Existentially prime Jonsson quasivarieties and their Jonsson spectra
This article is devoted to the study of Jonsson quasivarieties in a signature enriched with new predicate and constant symbols. New concepts of semantic Jonsson quasivariety and fragment-conservativeness of the center of the Jonsson theory are introduced. The cosemanticness classes of the Jonsson spectrum constructed for a semantic Jonsson quasvariety are considered. In this case, the Kaiser hull of the semantic Jonsson quasivariety is assumed to be existentially prime. By constructing a central type for classes of theories
from the Jonsson spectrum, the following results are formulated and proved. In the first main result, the necessary and sufficient condition is given for the center of the cosemanticness class of an existentially prime semantic Jonsson quasivariety to be λ-stable. The second result is the criterion for the center of the class of theories to be ω-categorical in the enriched language. The obtained theorems can be useful in continuing studies of various Jonsson algebras, in particular, Jonsson quasivarieties
Mangani-pargasite, NaCa2(Mg4Mn3+)(Si6Al2)O22(OH)2, a new mineral species of the amphibole supergroup
Mangani-pargasite, ideally NaCa2(Mg4Mn3+)(Si6Al2)O22(OH)2, is a new mineral species of the calcium amphibole subgroup of the amphibole supergroup. The type specimen was found on the mine dump of the Långban Fe-Mn-(Ba-As-Pb-Sb) deposit in Värmland, Sweden. Crystal chemical analyses resulted in the empirical chemical formula: A(Na0.90Pb0.07K0.03)Σ1.00B(Ca1.93Mn2+0.07)Σ2.00C(Mg4.25Mn3+0.39Al0.26 Fe3+0.10)Σ5.00T(Si6.35Al1.65)Σ8.00O22W(OH)2. In order to complete the description of this newly approved (IMA 2018-151) mineral we report here additional data to those published in papers by Jonsson and Hålenius (2010) and Hålenius and Bosi (2012). Mangani-pargasite is biaxial positive, with a=1.635(5), b=1.645(5), g=1.660(5) and the measured optic angle 2V is 85(5)°. The dispersion is weak (r>v), and the optic orientation is: Y||b; Z^c=25(3)°. Mangani-pargasite is red to brownish red with weak pleochroism; X=pale reddish brown, Y=pale reddish brown and Z=pale brownish red; X≈Y>Z. The unit-cell parameters are a=9.9448(5), b=18.0171(9), c=5.2829(3) Å, b=105.445(3)°, V=912.39(9) Å3, Z=2, space group C2/m. The ten strongest reflections in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern [d-values in Å, I, (h k l)] are: 8.420, 29, (110); 3.368, 17, (131), 3.279, 49, (240); 3.141, 100, (310); 2.817, 44, (33 0); 2.698, 21, (151); 2.389, 18, (350); 1.904, 29, (510); 1.650, 22, (461) and 1.448, 46, (661)

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. "Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Bringing nanomagnetism to the mesoscale with artificial amorphous structures
In the quest for materials with emergent or improved properties, an effective route is to create artificial superstructures. Novel properties emerge from the coupling between the phases, but the strength of this coupling depends on the quality of the interfaces. Atomic control of crystalline interfaces is notoriously complicated and to elude that obstacle, we suggest here an all-amorphous design. Starting from a model amorphous iron alloy, we locally tune the magnetic behavior by creating boron-doped regions by means of ion implantation through a lithographic mask. This process preserves the amorphous environment, creating a non-topographic magnetic superstructure with smooth interfaces and no structural discontinuities. The absence of inhomogeneities acting as pinning centers for the magnetization reversal is demonstrated by the formation of magnetic vortexes for ferromagnetic disks as large as 20 mu m in diameter embedded within a paramagnetic matrix. Rigid exchange coupling between two amorphous ferromagnetic phases in a microstructured sample is evidenced by an investigation involving first-order reversal curves. The sample consists of a soft matrix with embedded elements constituting a hard phase where the anisotropy originates from an elongated shape of the elements. We provide an intuitive explanation for the micrometer-range exchange coupling mechanism and discuss how to tailor the properties of all-amorphous superstructures

Sjögren's syndrome patients with ectopic germinal centers present with a distinct salivary proteome
Objective. Clinical expression of SS shows considerable interpatient heterogeneity. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess whether individual salivary proteomic profiles provide a framework for identification of disease-phenotype±driven biomarker signatures. Methods. Using a 187-plex capture antibody-based assay, proteomic biomarker profiles from unstimulated whole saliva were generated from a SS-cohort representing six clinically distinct disease phenotypes. Discriminant function analyses identified the most powerful biomarker signatures for correct recapitulation of each patient's status with respect to hyposalivation and histopathological features of salivary gland inflammation. In addition, gene ontology±based network analyses allowed systematic interpretation of the molecular patterns underlying these specific disease features. Results. Presentation of hyposalivation was associated with significant alteration in 22 out of 119 reliably detectable biomarkers. Thereof, a 4-plex signature allowed accurate prediction of salivary gland function for >80% of the cases. With respect to histopathological features, the most distinct profiles were identified in conjunction with ectopic germinal centres. Selected from the 13 analytes relevant here, pregnancyassociated plasma protein A, thrombospondin 1 and peptide YY would recapitulate the presence or absence of tertiary lymphoid organization for 93.8% of the patients. Whereas functional annotation of alterations associated with hyposalivation identified the IL1 system as a dominant pro-inflammatory component, changes observed in context with ectopic lymphoid organization revealed specific shifts in chemotactic profiles and altered regulation of apoptotic processes. Conclusion. Multivariate analyses of a patient's salivary proteome could reliably recapitulate specific aspects of SS disease. Accessible and repetitively collectable, such biomarker signatures harbour great potential for patient subclassification and subsequent follow-up
