No full textThis bachelor thesis is dedicated to the production of Finish photographer called Elina Brotherus. The life of the author is summarized in the introduction because of its impact on the work. The major part of the thesis is devoted to her photos, another part to her videos. The creation is captured chronologically from its beginnings when the author was already studying at the University of Arts and Design in Helsinki, Finland until her contemporary works. A great attention is paid to her most famous collections such as Das Mädchen sprach von Liebe, Suites françaises 1 and 2 or The New Painting. One chapter talks about the inclusion of Elina Brotherus into Helsinki School. The result is the creation of a biography of this well-known photographer that has not been written yet

Making asylum work? Civic stratification and labor-related regularization among rejected asylum seekers in Germany
No full textRejected asylum seekers often do not return to their countries of origin and face precarious living conditions in destination countries. Taking Germany as a strategic case, we investigate whether labor-related regularization, or "laborization," may serve as a solution for such migrants. We analyze the factors determining access to such regularization and how labor-related regularization relates to migrants' needs and aspirations. Based on extensive desk research and interviews with stakeholders, including (rejected) asylum seekers in Stuttgart, we find that laborization provides resourceful and "deserving" individuals with valuable opportunities to realize their aspirations, but it is insufficient to fully address non-deportability
The entanglement of substantive and symbolic politics in immigrant integration: Insights from a regional state in Germany
No full textWhen discussing the governance of immigrant integration, researchers and policymakers have gone back and forth in either conceiving national governments as determining immigrant integration or ascribing the local level as a strong influence in this field of policy-making. This article focuses on the regional level instead, which has so far often been left out of the picture. Based on extensive fieldwork in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration in the regional state Baden-Württemberg in Germany, we examine the character of immigrant integration policy-making in Baden-Württemberg in the aftermath of the long summer of migration. Our findings show the pertinence of symbolic uses of integration policies in combination with substantive uses. We make sense of these findings in light of an increased role of the regional level, the intrinsic symbolic character of immigrant integration, and the resurgence of anti-immigrant politics after 2015 in Baden-Württemberg. Based on our findings we counter a common binary of substantive and symbolic uses of policies and argue that these are often combined and entangled. Furthermore, the results of this study underscore that policy-making on immigrant integration is not reserved for municipalities and national governments and adds that the regional level plays a role too

The author describes the fundamental differences between these two notions in the light of the individual’s personality. Human capital is a core input, from which other forms of capital can be derived. The author attempts to show that human capital is the main asset of a nation, building her argument on the example of Great Britain – a developed country that has been successful in attracting and valorising this form of capital from abroad. In the context of the emergence of the global labour and talent markets, the countries in development such as the Republic of Moldova, face an increase in both the risks and opportunities related to human capital. Managing these risks and opportunities represents a challenge to which the country must respond by increasing investments in the valorisation of its human capital, inclusively through an improved design of the education policy and planning of the future workforce. At the same time, the author suggests that spirituality is a fundamental dimension of the factors that generate human capital, driving their development in a way that responds to country’s deepest and most actual needs

In this study, there are three campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) which from branch Shah Alam, Selangor, Puncak Alam, Selangor and Seri Iskandar, Perak. Respondents from the 3 branch of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) are the key to succeed this study where the questionnaire are distributed to the staff and students who are occupied in that building, and there has an interview session between the author and the person who is in charge in this studies. The issues that are arise in the Campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) branch Shah Alam, Selangor is there are no assembly point because this campus are crowded with buildings. Because of the issues, it brings to the making of this study. The author decided to study about the fire evacuation on the campus with different situation, which are the old campus are longer, new campus, and small capacity campus. This study was conducted to study about fire evacuation system in all the different campuses. Not all the campuses are using the same system. They used conventional system, full addressable system and semi addressable system. By studying the system, the author know what are the problems on the buildings that the fire drill are not conducted for their building occupants. Fire drill is important to increase the level of awareness of building occupants. The study also highlight suggestions from the Facility Department to improve their current system, as well as suggestions from the respondents to improve their self-awareness

The first part of the paper delves into the question of the writer’s approaches to literary
translation. A distinction between his translations into Russian (this is the case of Alice in
Wonderland,1923, Anja v Strane Čudes) and those into English (Evgenij Onegin, 1964,Eu-gene Onegin) is in order. It should be underlined, however, that in this reference frame the
translation is conducted on works belonging to otherauthors. Nonetheless, these examples
make it possible to discuss Nabokov’s distinct, if not contradictory, theoretical position con-cerning the practice of translation. In fact, his opinion dramatically changes depending on
the direction of translation, from Russian into English or the other way round.
The second focus is on the problem of translating one’s own text. In Nabokov’s literary
career this activity was undertaken from the 1930s onwards. It is possible here to mention a
novel such as Otčajanie(Despair, 1936), which the author self-translated twice into English
(1937, 1965). Finally, the paper considers Nabokov’s collaboration with his son Dmitri, because of its theoretical importance. Examples of this cooperation can be found, for instance,
in the translation of Priglašenie na kazn’ (1938, Invitation to a Beheading, 1959), and Cose
Trasparenti(1975, Transparent Things, 1972). The legitimacy of the translation and its value
are called into question, while the role of the author in this context is also discussed

Get PDFThis chapter examines the Orthodox theological condonement of the ordination of women in the 1996 consultation between Orthodox and Old Catholic theologians on gender and the apostolic ministry. This formal consultation came to the conclusion that there are no theological objections to the ordination of women. The author proposes that the issue of women’s ordination touched on a fundamental theological question: the manner in which tradition, including Scripture, is to be received. This chapter sheds light on a highly interesting yet little-known episode in Orthodox ecumenical relations, showing that there are recent examples of negotiations with tradition even on issues considered “closed cases” such as women’s ordination
