Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The Difference between Leasing, Loans and Financing Referring to the Law and Regulations
The terms leasing, financing and lending are often misused because people often think that all three terms mean the same thing. In fact, these terms are different schemes and roles based on applicable laws. Each financing has a different purpose of use. This normative juridical study discusses the differences between leasing, financing and loans or credit based on the applicable laws and regulations. This study uses library research and related laws and regulations. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences between leasing, financing and loan schemes. Leasing for productive business activities and financing for consumptive activities, while credit is for all segments. Leasing is used to purchase productive goods and consumer financing to purchase consumer goods. The three types of financing are provided by financial institutions. Leasing and financing is provided by finance companies. Loans are provided by banks. Each scheme targets a different customer market and has different advantages and disadvantages for providers and customers. Leasing provides advantages in terms of taxation compared to other financing. In addition, property rights also differ between leasing, financing and loans. Agreements with collateral for goods are adjusted to the type of financing that also differs from one financing to another. Further research can be carried out by conducting empirical research through field surveys to focus group discussions. With a focus group discussion, the opinions of business actors can be concluded in the joint discussion. Thus, the research results will complement existing researc
Determinant of Financial Company Profitablity
The purpose of the paper is to study the determinants of finance companies profitability. The finance company industry is one of main contributors of Indonesia economic growth during the last 15 years. Total asset of the industry is more than IDR 500 Trillion in 2018. The industry also considered as one the fastest growing industries during the last 15 year. We have analyzed the five main financial ratios and alliance impact as determinants of finance companies’ profitability. The profitability is measured by profit size, return on asset and return on equity. The financial ratios are firm size, efficiency ratio, leverage ratio, asset allocation ratio, and profitability ratio. We use data panel. The empirical results show that the determinants of finance companies’ profitability are leverage ratio, firm size, and efficiency ratio. However, the determinants of return on asset are net profit margin and efficiency ratio. On the contrary, the determinants of return on equity are firm size and equity size. Firm size has negative influence on return on equity. All determinants are significant at less than 1%, only efficiency ratio on profitability has significant at less than 10%.

DETERMINANTS OF BANKING INDUSTRY PROFITABILITY: AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH OF INDONESIA FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Independent Commissioners: How Independent?
Companies are managed by directors whose decisions and actions are overseen by a board of commissioners, which includes both commissioners and independent commissioners. An independent commissioner is a party that shares no relationships with the company's directors or the company itself. However, the independence of independent commissioners in performing their duties is questionable. This research examined the independence of independent commissioners using a normative juridical research method based on primary data, secondary data, and other relevant information. The juridical research method focuses on existing realities or implementation in the real world compared to the normative expectations or standards. The results showed that independent commissioners are not entirely independent, particularly in state-owned enterprises where connections with affiliates persist. Additionally, independent commissioners often had direct or indirect relationships with the government, with some being former civil servants or government supporters. Meanwhile, private companies tend to appoint commissioners based on prior personal relationships, such as friendships, rather than familial or business affiliations. Despite these connections, independent commissioners remain crucial for stakeholders interested in the company's governance. This research highlights the complexities surrounding the independence of commissioners and underscores the need for clearer definitions and enforcement of independence in corporate governance
