Relasjonen mellom trener og utøver: Et selvbestemmelsesteoretisk innblikk i skiskytter-Norge
Get PDFHensikt – Med utgangspunkt i selvbestemmelsesteorien (Ryan & Deci, 2017) har denne avhandlingen forsøkt å øke forståelsen for betydningen av relasjonen mellom trener og utøver gjennom å gi et innblikk i skiskytter-Norge.
Problemformulering – Denne avhandlingen presenterer en tredelt problemformulering: "Hvilke sammenhenger er det mellom treneradferder og motivasjonsformer?", "Hvilke sammenhenger er det mellom motivasjonsformer og utfallsvariabler?" og «Medierer motivasjonsformer sammenhengene mellom treneradferder og utfallsvariabler?»
Design – Studien benyttet et tversnittdesign for å undersøke relasjonen mellom trener og utøver fra et utøverperspektiv.
Metode – 90 skiskyttere (nær 15% av populasjonen) over 16 år svarte på et prekodet spørreskjema, basert på anerkjente måleinstrumenter, som testet de 13 variablene i studiens forskningsmodell.
Funn – Den relative autonomistøttende treneradferden har positive sammenhenger til autonom motivasjon, og negative sammenhenger til kontrollert motivasjon og amotivasjon. Det er positive sammenhenger mellom autonom motivasjon og de positivt rettede utfallsvariablene (tilfredshet og engasjement). Kontrollert motivasjon har en negativ sammenheng med tilfredshet, og en positiv sammenheng med stress. Amotivasjon henger negativt sammen med både engasjement og intensjon om å fortsette med idrett. Medieringene viser at en autonomistøttende treneradferd virker positivt inn på tilfredshet, engasjement og intensjon om å fortsette med idrett, og negativt inn på stress, gjennom de motivasjonelle reguleringene.
Praktiske implikasjoner –Ved å bli bevisst på egen treneradferd, kan denne studien gi skiskyttertrenere en god del informasjon om hvordan deres opptreden henger sammen med utøvernes adferd, både positivt og negativt, i og utenfor idrettsarenaen. Gjennom å ha et bevisst forhold til hvordan de ønsker at norske skiskyttere skal ha det, kan trenerutviklerne benytte kunnskapen denne avhandlingen presenterer til å utdanne trenere med ulike egenskaper. Utøverne som leser denne avhandlingen, kan få en økt forståelse for hvor viktig den treneren de har er for dem både i og utenfor idretten. Gjennom å se på utøvermotivasjon i relasjon til intensjon om å fortsette med idrett, kan denne studien bidra til økt forståelse for frafall i norsk idrett.Objective – With a starting point in the Self-Determination Theory (Ryan & Deci, 2017), this thesis seeks to enhance the understanding of the relationship between coach and athlete by providing insight into the world of biathlon in Norway.
Research question – This thesis presents a three-part research question: "Which connections exist between coach behaviour and motivational regulations?", "Which connections exist between motivational regulations and outcome variables?" and “Does motivational regulations mediate the connections between coach behaviour and outcome variables?”
Design – This study uses a cross-sectional design to explore the relations between coach and athlete from the perspective of the athlete.
Method – 90 biathletes (close to 15% of the population) older than 16 years answered a precoded questionnaire, based on a number of acknowledged measuring instruments, which tested all the 13 variables in the research model.
Results – The relative autonomy-supportive behaviour of the coach renders positive connections with autonomous motivation, and negative connections with controlled motivation and amotivation. There are positive connections between autonomous motivation and the positively aimed outcome variables (satisfaction and engagement). Controlled motivation renders a negative connection with satisfaction, and a positive connection with stress. Amotivation is linked negatively to both engagement and the intention of continuing with the sport. The mediations show that the autonomy-supportive behaviour is linked positively with satisfaction, engagement and the intention of continuing with the sport, and negatively with stress, through the motivational regulations.
Practical implications – Through becoming more conscious of one’s own coaching behaviour, this study may give the coaches quite a lot of information of how their own coaching is linked to the athlete’s behaviour, both in a positive and negative way, within and beyond the sport arena. Through having a conscious commitment to how they want the Norwegian biathletes to thrive, the coaches’ instructors may use the knowledge presented in this study to educate coaches with various capacities. The athletes reading this study, may acquire an enhanced understanding of the importance of their coach, both within and beyond the sport. Through viewing athlete motivation in relation to the intention of continuing with the sport, this study can enhance the understanding of dropout in sports
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
