Bagnoli: A City Project
No full textFor its values, the Bagnoli-Coroglio area (in the western part of Naples) represents a greatly significant place for the city and its community. The story of its transformation, from the cessation of the industrial activity until today, is very complex; it has lasted for about 20 years and has had a great influence on the social structure of a district that places great dreams and hopes in its regeneration. The desire for a free beach and a public park for the city is indeed still waiting to be realized. But today we are at a turning point. This contribution, that briefly reviews the main stages of this story, aims to highlight the entire process of the construction of the environmental redevelopment and rehabilitation project of the area, presenting it as an interweaving example of architecture, urban visions, urban planning, environmental restrictions, politics, legal events, but also an example of strong popular participation for the construction of a "City Project"
Polyhedral Computing and spatial research in architectural education. Applications to spatial research
No full textIn this paper we investigate an innovative way for modelling complex combinatorial spatial structures, called Polyhedral Computing. Already confirmed as an efficient tool regarding spatial cognition and education, the proposed framework of Polyhedral Computing can become an appropriate instrument for contemporary spatial research in architecture, education and design. Therefore, within this framework we propose the use of an algebra that acts on a set of Archimedean polyhedra - called “variables” - and applies various “connectivity operators” to create geometric expressions that satisfy specific validation rules. The construction flow for such geometric expressions can be described as an evolutionary process within the wider domain of computational architecture
Urban Devices for the City of Évora
No full textFirst-year students of the Integrated Master’s in Architecture developed proposals on the topic of Follies in the academic year 2022-2023 within the framework of the international workshop UoU (University of Universities) in the Curricular Unit Design Studio II. The challenge was to conceive temporary spatial structures that allow for a different perception of the identifying elements of a specific place, aiming to encourage the creation of new meanings for a transitional urban space—one where individuals do not stay but move, indifferent to what defines and characterizes it. This was how the challenge was presented to the students: to design a temporary urban device for two public spaces in the historic city of Évora where the temporality of the place is captured. The final proposals demonstrate that it is possible to create moments of pause in a device that relates time to the enjoyment of space in a city where the constant movement of its residents and visitors often overlooks the pleasure and prolonged appreciation of its simplest values
La acción tutorial en la EPS, planificación del tiempo, autoconocimiento y toma de decisiones
No full textEl carácter voluntario de la inscripción al Plan de Acción Tutorial (PAT) de la Escuela Politécnica Superior (EPS) un año más continúa siendo nuestro sello de identidad. Este carácter, permite una mayor eficacia en el desarrollo de tutorización ya que los agentes implicados en el mismo lo realizan de manera voluntaria. Con esta memoria nos proponemos presentar nuestras experiencias en el desarrollo del PAT en la EPS. La toma de decisiones, proceso mediante el cual se realiza una elección entre las opciones o formas para resolver diferentes situaciones de la vida en diferentes contextos, es un elemento de vital importancia en el desarrollo de la vida académica y futura profesional de nuestros estudiantes. En el marco del PAT de la EPS y en colaboración del Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación (ICE) hemos desarrollado diversos talleres, entre los que destaca un taller vivencial para analizar la importancia en la toma correcta de decisiones

No full textQuizás la pregunta con la que empieza el título de esta memoria podría tener infinidad de posibles respuestas, muchas de ellas tendrían en común un buen número de posibles soluciones: mejorar nuestra seguridad, nuestra autoconfianza, aprender de cómo otros pronuncian sus discursos, controlando la ansiedad, no temer a equivocarse, reconociéndolo como algo intrínseco al ser humano etcétera, pero a pesar de todo esto sigue siendo una tarea pendiente de nuestro sistema educativo, ya que miles de estudiantes llegan al sistema universitario sin aún desarrollar ciertas habilidades que le permitan afrontar estos miedos. Con esta memoria nos proponemos presentar nuestras experiencias en el desarrollo del Plan de Acción Tutorial (PAT) en la EPS destacando su evolución a lo largo del curso y los cambios experimentados. En el marco del PAT de la Escuela Politécnica Superior (EPS) y en colaboración del Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación (ICE) hemos animado a la participación de nuestros estudiantes a diversos talleres organizados por el ICE y por la Universidad de Alicante en general con el objetivo de ayudarles a fortalecer su seguridad ante una exposición pública de un trabajo como pudiera ser, por ejemplo, el Trabajo Final de Grado (TFG)
