Dr. Javed Iqbal. This book contains seventeen articles.This book was
published by Iqbal Academy in 1994. According to Dr. Javed Iqbal, during
the tenure of General Zia ul Haq, PTV recorded fifteen lectures from him,
which were telecast on TV throughout the year. When Dr. Javed Iqbal
became a Senator, instead of sitting idle in the Senate session, he decided
to compile a book containing these lectures. This book became very
popular after its publication. It has also been translated into Persian. In
this work, various aspects of Iqbal,s concept "Khudi" have been
explained. In this research article , these aspects of Iqbal,s cocept of
"Khudi" will be studied with reference to "Afkar e Iqba (Tashreehat e

Evaluating the applicability of the radial approximation for pile heat exchangers
This paper appraises the efficacy of using an analytical radial approximation for different thermal pile heat exchanger geometries. Unsteady radial heat-flow from fluid in a pipe set within a grouted borehole into the external ground is well-documented and can be solved analytically very rapidly using Laplace Transforms (Javed and Claesson 2011). By comparing the radial model with finite-element simulations including explicit pile geometries, this paper provides a provisional analysis of the accuracy of this approach. Initial findings suggest that the radial model may provide an appropriate approximation to pile behaviour for certain pipe configurations, albeit with small ‘mid-time’ error

An ALE based hybrid meshfree local RBF-cartesian FD scheme for incompressible flow around moving boundaries
A solution scheme is presented to simulate incompressible viscous flow around moving boundaries using hybrid meshfree-Cartesian grid. The presented solution approach avoids intensive re-meshing and enhances computational efficiency by combining the advantages of both meshfree and mesh-based methods for flow around moving objects. The scheme employs a body conformal meshfree nodal cloud around the solid object which convects with the moving solid boundary. On the outer side, meshfree nodal cloud is surrounded and partially overlapped by a stationary Cartesian grid. Navier Strokes equations in Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulations are solved over moving nodal cloud using meshfree local Radial Basis Functions in finite difference Mode (RBF-FD). Eulerian form of flow equations are solved over static Cartesian grid using conventional finite difference scheme. Meshfree nodes can efficiently adapt to the moving boundary without necessitating re-meshing. Use of finite difference method over Cartesian grid allows faster computing and improves computational efficiency. Variation in computation time has been studied with corresponding change in size of meshfree and Cartesian grids. Significant reduction in computation time is achieved by reducing the size of meshfree cloud. The solution scheme is validated by simulating two dimensional flows around vibrating cylindrical objects. For this purpose, forced as well as vortex induced cylindrical vibration cases are investigated and solutions are compared with computational and experimental results available in literature
Unleashing the Power of Induced Pluripotent stem Cells in in vitro Modelling of Lesch-Nyhan Disease
Lesch-Nyhan disease (LND) is a monogenic rare neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a deficiency in hypoxanthine–guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT), the key enzyme of the purines salvage pathway. Beyond its well-documented metabolic consequences, HPRT deficiency leads to a distinctive neurobehavioral syndrome characterized by motor disabilities, cognitive deficits, and self-injurious behavior. Although various cell and animal models have been developed to investigate LND pathology, none have adequately elucidated the underlying mechanisms of its neurological alterations. Recent advances in human pluripotent stem cell research and in vitro differentiation techniques have ushered in a new era in rare neurodevelopmental disorders research. Pluripotent stem cells, with their ability to propagate indefinitely and to differentiate into virtually any cell type, offer a valuable alternative for modeling rare diseases, allowing for the detection of pathological events from the earliest stages of neuronal network development. Furthermore, the generation of patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells using reprogramming technology provides an opportunity to develop a disease-relevant model within the context of a patient-specific genome. In this review, we examine current stem cell-based models of LND and assess their potential as optimal models for exploring key pathological molecular events during neurogenesis and for the discovering novel treatment options. We also address the limitations, challenges, and future prospects for improving the use of iPSCs in LND research. Graphical Abstract: (Figure presented.
Advanced Liquid and Gas NMR Methods for Probing Topical Materials
AbstractThe present thesis exploits advanced liquid and gas NMR methods for the characterization of various interesting materials. The methods used to study the structural properties of thermally modified wood, ionic liquids, cements, shales, and porous organic cages include MRI, NMR cryoporometry, Laplace NMR, multidimensional Laplace NMR, as well as ¹²⁹Xe and ¹⁹F NMR. The commonality factor in all the studies is the usage of either inherent or introduced liquid or gas molecules to probe the topical materials.The MRI method was utilized to visualize the water absorption phenomena in the thermally modified pine wood. High-resolution images made it possible to observe the spatial distribution of free water and the changes in the rate of absorption of water in wood samples modified at different temperatures. The images also helped to resolve the individual resin channels. T₂ maps enabled us to observe the changes in the relaxation values of free water in thermally modified wood as compared to their unmodified reference wood samples.The multidimensional Laplace NMR methods were exploited to study the structural and dynamical properties of a novel halogen-free, boron-based ionic liquid (hf-BIL). NMR self-diffusion (D) experiments showed the presence of two coexisting dynamic phases in hf-BIL. Multidimensional D − T₂ correlation experiments made it possible to determine the T₂ relaxation times of the slow and fast diffusing phases. T₂ − T₂ relaxation exchange measurements allowed quantifying the exchange rates of anions and cations between the phases. Moreover, the theoretical modeling of the experimental data revealed that the slow diffusing phase was composed of anion-cation aggregates, while the fast diffusing phase was comprised of free anions and cations.¹²⁹Xe NMR analysis of the xenon adsorbed in the cements and shales helped us to determine their porous structures. The method exploits the high sensitivity of the chemical shift of ¹²⁹Xe to its local environment. The chemical shift value of ¹²⁹Xe enabled us to estimate the size of the mesopores in the cement samples. The exchange spectroscopy (EXSY) measurements were used to determine the exchange rates between the free gas and mesopores of the cement samples. ¹²⁹Xe NMR spectra of the shale samples provided information about pore sizes and paramagnetic compounds. ¹H NMR cryoporometry measurements of the shale samples immersed in acetonitrile made it possible to analyze the pore size distribution ranging from 10 to over 100 nm. Moreover, T₂ − T₂ exchange measurements helped us to quantify the exchange rates of acetonitrile in the shale samples.Xenon and SF₆ were used as internal reporters to gain versatile information on adsorption phenomena in the cage and window cavities of the crystalline porous organic cages. ¹²⁹Xe NMR analysis of the adsorbed xenon helped us to determine the diffusion coefficients and activation energy of diffusion as well as thermodynamic parameters. With the help of T₂ relaxation time values, it was possible to estimate the exchange rates between cage and window cavities. Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) experiments resolved a window cavity site, which arises from crystal defects in porous organic cages. In addition, ¹⁹F NMR analysis made it possible to estimate the relaxation rates and diffusion coefficients of SF₆ gas in porous organic cages. Modelling of the T₁, T₂ and diffusion data confirmed that the cage to window exchange is the completely dominating mechanism for ¹²⁹Xe T₂ relaxation. T₁ relaxation is dominated by diffusion modulated dipole-dipole relaxation (DDinter) and chemical shift anisotropy (CSA) relaxation due to local cavity mobility. Whereas, in case of SF₆ T₂ data, the dominating mechanism is diffusion modulated dipole-dipole relaxation and for T₁ the local tumbling of SF₆ in cage cavity is the key dynamics behind the dipole-dipole and CSA mechanisms.Original papersOriginal papers are not included in the electronic version of the dissertation.Javed, M. Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)
This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.
