A scoring rule and global inaccuracy measure for contingent varying importance
Levinstein recently presented a challenge to accuracy-first epistemology. He claims that there is no strictly proper, truth-directed, additive, and differentiable scoring rule that recognises the contingency of varying importance, i.e., the fact that an agent might value the inaccuracy of her credences differently at different possible worlds. In my response, I will argue that accuracy-first epistemology can capture the contingency of varying importance while maintaining its commitment to additivity, propriety, truth-directedness, and differentiability. I will construct a scoring rule - a weighted scoring rule - and a global inaccuracy measure that has all four required properties and recognises the contingency of varying importance. I will show that Levinstein's and my results coexist without contradicting each othe
Sources and Targets in Kuteva et al. 2019
This dataset is based on examples found in Kuteva et al. 2019:
Kuteva, Tania, Bernd Heine, Bo Hong, Haiping Long, Heiko Narrog, and Seongha Rhee. 2019. World Lexicon of Gramaticalization (2nd ed.). Cambridge: Cambridge University Press.
Kuteva et al.’s World Lexicon of Grammaticalization (2019) is an inventory of examples of morphological reanalysis observed across a sample of over 900 languages. The goal of Kuteva et al.’s inventory is to represent grammaticalization changes that are documented in multiple languages. The examples are cataloged as types defined by Source to Target shifts, such as Ablative > Partitive, that are attested in two or more languages of the sample. The inventory lists 526 Source > Target types.
The purpose of this dataset is to explore how many Sources also serve as Targets, and to provide a broad semantic classification of the Sources. The classification is intended only for general description of patterns, and does not represent a precise assignment to mutually exclusive classes. Its purpose is to give a qualitative overview and thus does not lend itself to further quantitative analysis.
This dataset is the basis for the analysis in Section 4 of this publication:

Replication Data for: Contextually determined or semantically distinct? The competition between instrumental, long form nominative and short form nominative in Russian predicate adjectives
Dataset description
This post provides the data and R scripts for analysis of data on the variation between long form nominative, short form nominative, and instrumental case in Russian predicate adjectives in sentences containing an overt copula verb. We analyze the various factors associated with the choice of form of the adjective. This is the abstract of the article:
Based on data from the syntactic subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus, we undertake a quantitative analysis of the competition between Russian predicate adjectives in the instrumental (e.g., pustym ‘empty’), the long form nominative (e.g., pustoj ‘empty’), and the short form nominative (e.g., pust ‘empty’). It is argued that the choice of adjective form is partly determined by the context. Four (nearly) categorical rules are proposed based on the following contextual factors: the form of the copula verb, the presence/absence of a complement, and the nature of the subject of the sentence. At the same time, a “space of competition” is identified, where all three adjective forms are attested. It is hypothesized that within the space of competition, the three forms are recruited to convey different meanings, and it is argued that our analysis lends support to the traditional idea that the short form nominative is closely related to verbs. Our findings are furthermore compatible with the idea that the short form nominative expresses temporary states, rather than inherent permanent characteristics.</p
lanjut usia. Jika semakin rendah religiusitas maka semakin tinggi stres pada janda
yang sudah lanjut usia.
Kata kunci : religiusitas, stres pada janda lansia,

An Analysis of the Cost of the Supporting and Guarantee Agricultural and Forestry Fund (SGAFF) in the Czech Republic
The paper analyzes the cost to the Czech state budget of the Supporting and Guarantee Agricultural and Forestry Fund (SGAFF). In the empirical part of the paper, the author shows that the SGAFF portfolio has sufficient value to cover the expected costs of the credit guarantees and subsidies offered by the fund. The theoretical model looks at government interventions designed to decrease the credit rationing of farmers with high probability of success. The theoretical model shows that, with uniform non-targeted supports, the Czech government unambiguously prefers lump-sum guarantees to interest-rate subsidies. With support targeted wholly to disadvantaged farmers, the cost of lump-sum guarantees, proportional guarantees, and interest-rates subsidies are all equal.credit; guarantees; subsidies; transition
Fate, Desire, and Shame: Janda in Indonesian Pop Culture
Research on images of femininityin Indonesia has largely focused on either the image of femininity produced by the state or, relatively, high-brow cultural forms of femininity. However, popular culture produces images of females that often stand in contrast to such symbolism. This article contends that the janda, the divorcee or widow, one of the foremost images of femininity in popular music, drama, and literature, has been, for the most part, overlooked. Seen as sexually available and lascivious, the janda represents the “fallen woman”; an object of both fascination and pity. This article analyses the janda image as one of the foremost symbols in Indonesian popular culture. It is argued that the janda image must be analysed in relation to maiden and mother images. Furthermore, culturally specific ideas of desire, fate, and shame contextualise the janda image. As will become apparent, Indonesian popular culture is patriarchal, and a heterosexual male perspective frames much of the symbolism. This means that actual women live with the very real stigma of being a divorcee or a widowin Indonesia. In this study, we focus on the janda image and include discussion of how its representation has evolved to include a cosmopolitan ideal.</p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
