Helicenic pi−conjugated system emitter of circularly polarized light
New circularly polarized light emitter based on helicenic conjugated systems were synthesized and their optical and chiroptical properties were investigated. The first chapter is devoted to a bibliographic study describing the main properties of helicene, their synthetic access and the different types of applications of these molecules. The second chapter is dedicated to the preparation of new helicenic systems via the unprecedented association between achiral dye diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) and enantioenriched carbo[6]helicene. Excitonic coupling induced between DPPs pigments at the extremity of the helical center lead to red and nearinfrared circularly polarized luminescence. In the third chapter of this manuscript, we describe the synthesis, the optical and the chiroptical properties of a new family of helicene-naphthalimide helical chromophore. In particular, the effect of the solvent polarity on the chiral excited state will be discussed in detail via CPL characterization. The fourth chapter reports the evolution of the chiroptical responses of the helicene molecule with the spatial extension of the system and the variation of charge transfer character within these twisted systems. The functionalization of the carbo[6]helicene precursor with different electron donor and electron acceptor fragment is described. Photophysical, electrochemical and chiroptical properties is reported and analyzed
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
The texturation by instant controlled pressure drop (DIC) in the development of new oil extraction operations from oleaginous seeds
Recently, studies of structural pretreatment and improvement of the sector of vegetal oil extraction from oilseeds have focused on the intensification of the concerned processes in both aspects of performance (environmental impacts, energy consumption, and kinetics) and quality (nutritional content, sensorial attributes…). Therefore, this research aimed to study the improvement of oil extraction processes and their phytosanitary decontamination, based on DIC texturing and multi-flash autovaporization (MFA), respectively. First, the effect DIC texturing technology was studied as structural pretreatments in improving the technological aptitudes of processing seeds such as rapeseed and soybean, regarding the extraction kinetics and yields, and the preservation of the nutritional composition of the extracted oils. DIC was studied based on quantitative assessments of oil (yields, composition…), highlighting its impact following the conventional pretreatments such as cooking, crushing, flattening, and expanding. Furthermore, founded on the Coupled Washing Diffusion CWD phenomenological model, in the specific cases of Negligible External Resistance NER extraction kinetics were also conducted to determine the fundamental extraction parameters of solvent vegetal oil extraction kinetics, such as the effective diffusivity and the starting accessibility, compared to conventional systems. The results denoted the improvement of extraction kinetics of the materials treated with DIC, on the one hand, and the preservation of the nutritional quality of the extracted compounds, on the other hand. Finally, this work focused on the study of multi-flash autovaporization (MFA) technology and its effect on the phytosanitary aspect of the extracted oils. The effectiveness of this technology has been proven for pesticide residue decontamination (organochlorine) of crude rapeseed oil
Issues in the appropriation of the investigative approach by teachers : cases of teaching electrical resonance in the scientific terminal
My doctoral thesis is part of a research project on an approach advocated in scientific teaching: “the inqured-based approach”. In particular, it aims to shed light on how physical science (SP) teachers implement it in the classroom. As a result, we try to study the feasibility of an investigative approach by analysing how teachers organize their activities and the types of professional knowledge mobilised during a practical work on electrical intensity resonance. Our work takes place in the context of the teaching of experimental sciences. Our theoretical approach articulates the didactics of science and professional didactics. We use the concept of pedagogical knowledge related to PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge) and content-related pedagogical knowledge as a framework for analysing the knowledge mobilised by teachers. The methodology of our research is based on one main idea, that of analysing the gap between the collective preparation of teaching and classroom practice. Our study is limited to the three stages of the EOI: the presentation of the problem situation, the hypotheses and the experimental investigation. By constructing the schemes as they are described by Vergnaud, we make a typology of the knowledge mobilized by the two teachers during the practice these three stages and we identify those which are common. We highlight a relationship between the type of knowledge involved and the short type of retroactive regulation which allows the teacher to overcome the situations of difficulties experienced by his pupils. Therefore we show the impact of this knowledge on the timed aspect of the EOI. So our work contributes to the formation of a body of knowledge that can possibly feed the work of the didacticians, as well as that of the trainers and the teachers themselves
A didactic engineering based on an investigation approach with simulation to teach the mechanical waves to the high school
The thesis begin with a report, Based on a review of the literature, about the difficulties of the pupils and the students in relation to the concept wave. This report is strengthened by our empirical study in master's degree. The objective of our work is to build, and to make out to test, a didactic engineering based on an investigation so proposing an education differ from the custom resting on an IT simulation. After an introduction of the principles and the interest of the didactic engineering, our work is organized in four parts. The first one contains an epistemological analysis and a historic of the concept of wave, where our results show the emergence and the perseverance of the obstacle substantialist. Then, an analysis of the sessions of ordinary education of the concept of wave is realized within the framework of the theory of the joint action in didactics. This analysis highlights the nature of the practices in this Tunisian terminal classes of high school and shows the limits of such an teaching, as we consider transmissif. The cognitive analysis of the key concepts (vibration velocity and wave front) allows to support our report on the difficulties met by pupils. An analysis of the field of constraints closes this first part. The second part consists in justifying choices made to develop an educational scenario based on a situation of type PCDR's inquiry, constituted of four moments: forecast, Confrontation, Resolution and discussion. The third part is reserved on one hand, in the detailed description of the methodology of search and its various levels of analysis and, on the other hand, in an analysis a priori of the practical session of teaching of type PCDR. To finish, the fourth part proposes an analysis of the activities led during the session on the waves in a suburban high school of Tunis and an evaluation of the educational scenario. The obtained results are satisfactory with regard to compared with our waits. Indeed, the discussions of the pupils translate a real interest to solve certain situations of proposed inquiry. Furthermore, the analysis of the results of the post-test shows that the session of teaching with approch by PCDR contributed to the improvement of the number of the correct answers of the pupils and their ways of reasoning
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Chemical Composition and Biological Activities of the Essential Oils from Three Melaleuca Species Grown in Tunisia
The chemical composition of the essential oils of Melaleuca armillaris Sm., Melaleuca styphelioides Sm. and Melaleuca acuminata F. Muell., collected in Tunisia, was studied by means of GC and GC-MS analysis. In all, 46 compounds were identified, 38 for M. armillaris, 20 for M. acuminata and eight for M. styphelioides, respectively. The presence of a sesquiterpenic fraction (52.2%) characterized the oil from M. armillaris;
M. sthypheliodes oil was rich in methyl eugenol, a phenolic compound (91.1%), while M. acuminata oil is mainly constituted by oxygenated monoterpenoids (95.6%). The essential oils were evaluated for their in vitro potentially phytotoxic activity against
germination and initial radicle growth of Raphanus sativus L., Lepidium sativum L., Sinapis arvensis L., Triticum durum L. and Phalaris canariensis L. seeds. The radicle elongation of five seeds was inhibited at the highest doses tested, while germination of all
seeds was not affected. Moreover, the essential oils showed low antimicrobial activity against eight selected microorganisms
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
