This video essay aims to explore some of the relationships between loneliness and La rabbia by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Inspired by the centenary of the birth of this Italian author and the various discussions sparked in Colombia during this celebration, this paper argues that this work is significant for contemporary videographic criticism. The goal is to emphasize how the notion of solitude presented in Pasolini’s work, and specifically in La rabbia, can foster the creation of various connections in Latin America. The important bond between the essay and loneliness in the region can lead to fruitful alliances with a videographic lineage originating from Pasolini’s work.
Political Instability and Lessons for Pakistan: Case Study of 2014 PTI Sit in Protests
It’s a short allegory to present the case for the importance of Political stability in the economic progress of a country. The Arab spring protests were seen as strengthening democracy in the Arab world. Notwithstanding the surprise Arab spring brought in shape of further destabilizing Middle East, a similar environment of unrest and protests in a practicing democracy like Pakistan capture same dynamics of uncertainty that dampen economic destabilization. The paper briefly covers PTI’s sit in protests in year 2014 to make a case for how political instability stifled economic progress in Pakistan though momentarily
EDL-Det: A Robust TTS Synthesis Detector Using VGG19-Based YAMNet and Ensemble Learning Block
Various audio deep fake synthesis algorithms exist, such as deep voice, tacotron, fastspeech, and imitation techniques. Despite the existence of various spoofing speech detectors, they are not ready to distinguish unseen audio samples with high precision. In this study, we suggest a robust model, namely an Ensemble Deep Learning Detector (EDL-Det), to detect text-to-speech (TTS) and categorize it into spoofed and bonafide classes. Our proposed model is an improved method based on Yet Another Multi-scale Convolutional Neural Network (YAMNet) employing VGG19 as a base network combined with two other deep learning(DL) techniques. Our proposed system effectively analyzes the audio to extract better artifacts. We have added an ensemble learning block that consists of ResNet50 and InceptionNetv2. First, we convert speech into mel-spectrograms that consist of time-frequency representations. Second, we train our model using the ASVspoof-2019 dataset. Ultimately, we classified the audios, transforming them into mel-spectrograms using our trained binary classifier and a majority voting scheme by three networks. Due to ensemble architecture, our proposed model effectively extracts the most representative features from the mel-spectrograms. Furthermore, we have performed extensive experiments to assess the performance of the suggested model using the ASVspoof 2019 corpus. Additionally, our proposed model is robust enough to identify the unseen spoofed audios and accurately classify the attacks based on cloning algorithms
The Rage and the limits of essay film
As commissioned work and exceptional piece in Pasolini’s filmography, La Rabbia opens an unusual mode of operation with images and words. Pasolini started from a voluminous documentary archive of diverse sources, made his own montage of images and visualizing that structure he produced a script that was itself an experimental writing piece which articulates poetry and prose. The project and the result were explicitly characterized by the author as an essay film.Facultad de Bellas Arte
Pasolini – Guareschi. Poetycka „Wściekłość” i jej dalsze reperkusje
Autor podejmuje zagadnienia produkcji, egzegezy i kontekstów ideologiczno-politycznych pierwszego włoskiego filmu montażowego La rabbia, autorstwa Piera Paola Pasoliniego i Giovanniego Guareschiego. The author deals with the production, exegesis and ideological and political contexts of the first Italian compilation film La Rabbia (Anger) by Pier Paolo Pasolini and Giovanni Guareschi. The film created in 1962, based on film footage collected by the film chronicle Mondo Libero for two decades, was to present the problems of modernity from two opposing ideological positions: leftist, represented by Pasolini, and rightwing, represented by Guareschi. In his text Jóźwiak questions the previous interpretations of this film. An in-depth analysis of the dialogue layer and visual material reveals the political position of Pasolini, which from today’s perspective raises doubts, towards the Soviet regime, which consists of, among others, justification of the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956 and ethical relativization of Soviet policy. On the other hand, the analysis of the right-wing “fascist” part of Guareschi leads to surprising conclusions regarding the camouflaged influence of his thoughts on Pasolini’s later political attitude. In this light La Rabbia appears as a ground-breaking film in the evolution of Pasolini’s thought and creativity
Brain-RetinaNet: Detection of Brain Tumour Using an Improved RetinaNet in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Brain tumours disrupt the normal functioning of the brain and, if left untreated, can invade surrounding tissues, blood vessels, and nerves, posing a severe threat. Consequently, early detection is crucial to prevent tragic outcomes. Distinguishing brain tumours through manual detection poses a significant challenge given their diverse features, such as differing shapes, sizes, and nucleus characteristics. Therefore, this research introduces an improved architecture for tumour detection named as Brain-RetinaNet, an extension of the RetinaNet model. Brain-RetinaNet is specifically designed for automated detection and identification of brain tumours in MRI images. It utilises an advanced multiscale feature fusion mechanism within the X-module, complemented by the channel attention module. The feature fusion mechanism within the X-module progressively merges features from different scales, producing enriched feature maps that encompass valuable information. At the same time, the attention module dynamically allocates optimal weights to individual channels within the feature map, enabling the network to prioritise relevant features while reducing interference from unnecessary ones. Moreover, this study employs data augmentation technique to address the limitation of a limited number of available samples. Experimental results indicate that Brain-RetinaNet outperforms existing detectors such as YOLO, SSD, Centernet, EfficientNet, and M2det for the brain tumour detection from MRI images
Divergent definitions in the visibility strategy of the LGTB movement in Cordova
This article explores visibility as a problem, an objective and a strategy of LGTB activism. Focusing on the recent appropriation of the Pride March as a political practice on the part of one sector of the LGTB Cordova movement, the author examines how activists dispute legitimate modes of articulating a visibility strategy.
Marked by the risk of commercialization and an emptying of political content, the march nevertheless constitutes a stage for new and opposing definitions of the citizen status of sexual-gender diversity. Based on field
observations and interviews with activists, the author interrogates how the trajectory in militancy, the sexualgender
subjectivities at play, differential access to resources and the relatively radical character of their platforms
constitute determining factors in the definition of the visibility strategy in ‘festive’ or ‘combative’ terms
The goal of this research is to clarify how the literary modes Fantastic, Wonderful and Strange, as defined by Ceserani (2006), are important for the composition and valorization of the figure of the narrator in contemporary society in Alessandro Baricco‘s Castelli di rabbia (1991). It‘s believed that the narrator in this work is the one took into consideration by Walter Benjamin (1996), which would be an almost extinct decadent figure due to the arrival of the modernity and the decline of collective experience. The Italian author of this work builds a narrative in which there are several smaller narratives that compose the novel. Each one of these smaller narratives happens inside of a fantastic universe, in which the above-quoted literary modes take place alternately. To study these literary modes, authors such as Furtado (1980), Ceserani (2006), Bessière (1974), and also some considerations of Todorov (1975), pioneering author in this field of study, will be taken into consideration. Each one of the smaller stories narrated have in common the fact that they approach a life goal of some character inside of an imaginary universe, in which the rules of our natural world no longer exist. All these goals are apparently impossible and unreachable, and, however, the characters insist on pursuing them. The goal of this research is to demonstrate how the yen of accomplishment of these goals and the fact that the characters never lose their faith build a strong dialogue with Walter Benjamin‘s conceptions about the narrator and modernity, given that each character narrates his story as well as the ancient ones that preceded this period, in which, according to Benjamin, the art of narrating is about to disappear. The objective of this study is to make explicit how Alessandro Baricco employs the literary modes Fantastic, Wonderful and Weird to revalorize the narrator, creating allegories based on an imaginary universe. In this universe, the characters narrate and share experiences, as well as the narrator defined by Walter Benjamin does. The allegories built have the goal of creating an association between the act of narrating and the act of resisting to the death of narrative and of literature as art, given that after the arrival of bourgeois modernity, literature in general starts to be sold as merchandise. Therefore, literature loses its advisable character, being an object through which it is possible to share experiences.

The author analyses the concepts of mental suffering, anger and gratitude in the Psychoanalysis, distinguishing between the theories based on the instincts and the ones focused on the interpersonal relationships. In particular, he studies, on the one side, the ideas of Freud and Melanie Klein, and, on the other, the theories of Winnicott, Kohut, Bion and Bowlby. In the second part of the text, then, he examines some literary representations of mental suffering, anger and gratitude, with other related mental activities, like guilt and reparation. We can notice how the representation of these emotions reflects not only the cultural context in which the authors live, but also some of the deep psychic dynamics analysed by the Psychoanalysis
