Networked innovation in health care: a literature review and research agenda on the interplay of inner and outer contexts of innovation

    No full text
In Chapter 10, La Rocca presents a systematic literature review on healthcare innovation, focusing on an examination of the extent to which this research has acknowledged the networked nature of innovation and the inter-relatedness of intra- and inter-organizational innovation processes. The review of the literature shows that research on innovation in healthcare has largely explored the process of translating innovation into local contexts but is also increasingly turning attention to how innovation is spread across organizations. Drawing on the literature review, the author concludes that the understanding of how the interplay of innovation processes at the local level and those outside the organizational boundaries impact the innovation journey in healthcare remains limited. A research agenda on networked innovation in healthcare is outlined

The scale exhibited good internal consistency and internal structure, with overall scores correlating well with each item’s response categories. Items performed similarly for pregnant and non-pregnant women, and scores decreased with increasing parity, providing evidence for validity. Analyses detected small disadvantages, including low endorsement of middle response categories and some evidence of differential item functioning by parity. We conclude that the LMUP is suitable for use in India and recommend steps for improving scale performance for this cultural context.National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Levis Strauss Foundation

Progress in the Development of Table-Top Discharge-Pumped Soft X-Ray Lasers

The demonstration of large soft x-ray amplification in a discharge-created plasma has opened a new path to the development of compact and practical soft x-ray lasers. We review our progress in the development and study of these ultrashort wavelength lasers. The field has advanced from the first observation of large amplification in a discharge-created plasma in Ne-like Ar [J.J. Rocca, V.N. Shlyaptsev, F.G. Tomasel, O.D. Cortazar, D. Hartshorn, and J.L.A. Chilla, Phys. Rev. Lett. 73, 2192 (1994)], to the demonstration of an extremely compact saturated laser at 46.9 nm. In this paper we give an overview of these and other selected results. They include the observation of large amplification (gain-length product of 7.5) in Ne-like S at 60.8 nm in material ablated from a solid target by a discharge, and preliminary results of the search for gain at a shorter wavelength in Ne-like Ca. A recent study of the spatial coherence of the capillary discharge 46.9 nm Ne-like Ar laser, which provides the first experimental measurement of a monotonic increase of the spatial coherence with length in a soft x-ray amplifier, is also summarized

Health and well-being in indoor work environments: A review of literature

    No full text
During the design and realization processes of an indoor work environment there is the need to guarantee to the future occupants adequate health and wellbeing conditions. Both conditions are strictly related to the human perception of the environment, and depends on four basic factors: thermal environment, lighting, acoustics, and indoor air quality. Such factors are related both to the Occupational Health and Safety and to the Indoor Environmental Quality that represent complementary aspects, but they are characterized by two different approaches. The human exposure to the hazardous conditions is governed by national and international Directives where the limit values for each agent are indicated. The exposure to hazardous agents is tackled according to pass/fail criteria. However, the fulfilment of these limits ensures safe working conditions but not the achievement of comfort conditions. The perception of comfort is a long studied by the scientific community that has analysed the relation between the perception of comfort and the environmental conditions. In this case the approach is qualitative with the use of indices of performance. In this paper the complexity of the relationship between occupant comfort and well-being is discussed. The Author explore the existing literature on the risk for human health and on the Indoor Environmental Quality in order to create a framework of the state of art of these two different but strictly connected aspects

Customer-Supplier Relationships in B2B - Interaction Perspective on Actors

    No full text
This book explores customer-supplier relationships in B2B markets focusing on interaction between parties. Drawing on three fields of research – studies of relationships in marketing, social interactionism in sociology, and sense-making in social psychology – the author explores the concepts and roles of actors in business relationships and how the behaviour of actors within an interaction affects the development of those relationships. Based on a review of prior research and an original empirical study, the author argues that the presence of continuous close relationships between the customer and supplier organisations bestows features of a business network on B2B markets, with distinct interdependencies and ubiquitous interactions. Exploring buyer-seller interactions, the author contends that actors’ mutually perceived identities – continuously emergent and relationship-specific – are the main factor in the development of business relationships and discusses the implications for management practice and research

The studies and the analyses of an ancient document (written between the end of the XVth and the beginning of the XVIth century) gave the opportunity to find the real author of the architectural and engineering works in the Fortress. The name of Antonio da Sangallo the Elder c ame out as the designer of such a sorprendent architectural solutions for the so-called "Cortile d'Onor" at the end of the XVth centu

Ordine pubblico matrimoniale e poligamia nella disciplina del ricongiungimento familiare

The possibility of family reunification for the «other wives» of the polygamous resident has always been controversial due to the certain opposition of polygamous marriage to the principles of European legal systems. The general and absolute ban introduced by the European legislator does not violate religious freedom but constitutes a serious limit to the possibility to live a family life. The author indicates some possible interpretative lines to clarify and delimit the ban

Two defixiones from the Iberian peninsula lend themselves to several observations in the field of proper bilingualism and its effects. The first comprises a bilingual text written in Greek and in Latin. This is an exceptional fact considering the “private” nature of this type of texts. Therefore, special attention is paid not only to the linguistic skills of the author and the receiver, but also to the question of “equivalence” in translation. The second suggests that the term “megare” may be a loanword from Greek “megale” (the change between l and r in this specific act is interpreted within the general perspective of weakening in certain syllabic environments)
