No full textSimulated data in .csv format on the impact of viral load testing on the following outcomes for two HIV+ maternal cohorts, a Newly Positive Cohort and a Known Positive Cohort: proportions of each cohort virally suppressed overall and by treatment status, and cumulative numbers of births, deaths and vertical transmissions. A codemap translating simulation time step to maternal event time is also included.These data contain the output of our HIV microsimulation model of disease progression, HIV care and vertical transmission among pregnant women living with HIV in Kenya. Distance Collaboration. a Comparative Analysis of Tools and Procedures
No full textBesides design theory and practice, curricula of architectural students should include some experiences referring to professional situations. Among these experiences, Collaborative Design is nowadays somewhat frequent. It is normally practised by large professional studios, using expansive software which is beyond what they can afford on average. Much academic research on the topic has also been carried out often resulting in the proposition of new and too complex description models of the building object. We think that students should instead get acquainted with such a design process: an experience has been planned and carried out in our Department for the purpose of practising the possible paradigm in a more ordinary context. Its purpose was threefold. First, making the students grasp the methodis potentialities and learn the right approach. Second, testing the practical suitability of the most widely used software. Third, comparing their relative efficiency. The software we used was: Architectural Desktop, AutoCad Revit, ArchiCad for Teamwork. We focused special attention on how representing and managing restraints, since they are the main source of conflicts. This was the hardest topic to manage. The results were partly positive inasmuch as the experience showed that it could be possible to adopt the Collaborative Design paradigm which is also used in the AEC field. The drawbacks emerged from the analysis of non-dedicated software are: a relative slow process for the lack of certain specific tools, a subsequent necessity of integrating them with different communication software, the difficulty of managing hard and soft restraints. No full textTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2013.Esta Tese de Doutorado versa sobre os contatos intelectuais estabelecidos por Paulo Duarte durante o período de seus dois exílios, que lhe foram impostos por Getúlio Vargas em 1934 e, depois de um período de retorno ao Brasil, entre 1938 e 1945, durante a vigência do Estado Novo. O texto se serve da imagem do rio, fundamental que foi ao longo dos escritos de Duarte, para realizar um movimento a contrapelo, ou seja, na contramão da correnteza, no sentido de encontrar as relações e contatos que não foram explorados na criação da imagem ?institucional? do escritor. Após um excurso em que se apresenta a imagem do rio e questões relativas à redação da autobiografia e às teorias da memória e da história que guiam as reflexões da Tese, debatem-se três problemas-chave em que a posição de Duarte permite ler diferentes teorias da modernidade na América Latina. Primeiramente, a ideia de patrimônio e o debate travado na passagem pela Argentina, em sua proximidade com as reflexões contemporâneas de Benjamin e com o pensamento dos Annales a respeito da História. Em seguida, a procura pelo fundamento da História e da cultura leva, pois, a pensar o problema da origem do humano, radicada em sua reflexão, na linguagem. Por fim, chega-se à emergência da problemática da imagem, a qual, em convergência com a origem e a linguagem, leva, na leitura e no contato de Duarte com Luis Buñuel, Anton Giulio Bragaglia e Samuel Beckett, ao torvelinho de radicar a origem no vazio. Abstract : This dissertation is about the intellectual contacts made by Paulo Duarte during his two exiles. The Brazilian president, Getúlio Vargas, exhiled Duarte for two times: in 1934 and, after a period back in Brazil, again, between 1938 and 1945, during the dictatorial government called Estado Novo. The text uses the image of the river, essential in Duarte's writings, to make a movement brushing the history against the grain, that is, against the stream, searching for the relations and contacts which have not been explored in the creation of the writer's "institutional" image. After an excursus in which the river's image is presented, as well as questions about autobiography and the theories about memory and history that guides the doctoral dissertation, we discuss three problems in which Duarte's position allows reading different modernity theories in Latin America. First come the idea of heritage and the debate in which he takes part during his passage through Argentina, in its proximity with Walter Benjamin and the Annales' reflections about History. Second, the search for History and culture's foundings takes Duarte's reflections to the problem of the mankind's origin, that is rooted in the language, according to Duarte. At last, the dissertation approaches the emergency of the problem of image, which, converging with the discussion about origin and language, takes, in the reading of and the contact between Duarte and Luis Buñuel, Anton Giulio Bragaglia and Samuel Beckett, to the swirl of rooting the origin in the void
