    No full text
This work sought sources of visual poetry from Ancient Greece, throughout the movement of concrete poetry, until today’s visual poetry. Discusses briefly the design history and how the professional designer works. Relates the graphic design project construction and the visual poetry, showing how far they approach and what distances them. Brings the knowledge of the life and career of artist Miguel de Frias and arriving in his poetry. Six visual poems from the artist were analyzed with a particular look of the author. Justified, therefore, an ample literature search for the theoretical foundation and an interview with Fria

Modelling the effect of asparaginase in reducing acrylamide formation in biscuits

    No full text
The influence of asparaginase on acrylamide formation, as well as colour development, in short dough biscuits was studied. In particular, asparaginase concentration, incubation time and temperature were changed according to an experimental design. As acrylamide formation was found to vary significantly between biscuits obtained by using the same ingredients and process, a mixed effect model was used to model variation of acrylamide concentration. By contrast a fixed effect model was used for colour polynomial analysis. Within the range of study, the overall results allowed the best conditions for minimising acrylamide formation to be found. It can be suggested that acrylamide development was at a minimum at intermediate asparaginase concentrations, as well as at the lowest time and temperature of incubation. Asparaginase addition did not significantly affect the colour of the final product, although the quadratic term of the incubation temperature did slightly

Delgado-Frias, “Pipelined multipliers for reconfigurable hardware

Reconfigurable devices used in digital signal processing applications must handle large amounts of data in vector form. Most signal processing algorithms use multiplication extensively; thus, the hardware must support this operation to achieve high performance. However, mapping a multiplier on traditional fine-grain devices produces a complex structure whose performance is limited by the routing overhead. In this paper, we present a novel pipelined multiplier structure suitable for medium-grain and coarse-grain reconfigurable cell arrays. We first implement an unsigned n-bit multiplier using m-bit cells. Then, we show how the same structure can work with two’s-complement data with small changes to the configuration. The structure requires ⎡n/m ⎤ 2 cells, but can execute vector operations in a pipelined fashion. We also discuss the benefits of using a hierarchical design for large multipliers. 1

Evaluation of a personalized digital library based on cognitive styles: Adaptivity vs. adaptability

    No full text
Personalization can be addressed by adaptability and adaptivity, which have different advantages and disadvantages. This study investigates how digital library users react to these two techniques. More specifically, we develop a personalized digital library to suit the needs of different cognitive styles based on the findings of our previous work (Frias-Martinez, et al., in press). The personalized digital library includes two versions: adaptive version and adaptable version. The results showed that users not only performed better in the adaptive version, but also they perceived more positively to the adaptive version. In addition, cognitive styles have great effects on users’ responses to adaptability and adaptivity. These results provide guidance for designers to select suitable techniques to develop personalized digital libraries

Conclusiones: Se presenta una versión resumida de las asociaciones estimadas de los diferentes estadios de OLGA/OLGIM y riesgo de CG (Texto tomado de la fuente).Introduction and objective: Recent studies have found that patients with OLGA II may also be at risk of gastric cancer (GC) in the long term and even more so if they have first-degree relatives with GC. The aim of the present meta-analysis is to determine whether OLGA stages II-IV are at risk of GC and what is its magnitude, as well as to estimate whether the risk increases when there are first-degree relatives with GC. Methodology: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Several databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Medline and Cochrane library, will be searched for articles published in the last 10 years until May 2024 on the association between different OLGA/OLGIM stages and GC risk. Statistical analysis with estimation of effect in terms of Odds Ratio (OR), relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval. Heterogeneity will be estimated with I2 and Chi2. Results: Of 273 articles retrieved through our literature search, a total of 28 studies comprising 23390 patients were included, 15 case-control, cross-sectional, and 13 cohort studies. The meta-analysis demonstrated a significant association between OLGA/OLGIM stages II-IV and gastric cancer. Subgroup analysis in populations with low prevalence of H. pylori infection found no association of OLGIM score in cohort studies. Conclusions: A summarized version of the estimated associations of different OLGA/OLGIM stages and GC risk is presented.Especialidades MédicasEspecialista en GastroenterologíaRevisión sistemática y metaanálisis.
