    Lav Diaz: Journeys

    No full text
This is the first extensive London exhibition of the films of Lav Diaz, one of the greatest radical artists of contemporary cinema. The centrepiece of this curatorial project, led by Ingawanij, is the transformation of London Gallery West into a cinematic environment to exhibit six of Diaz's very long films combining the display conventions of art cinema and gallery attendance. The LGW exhibition is part of the practice-led curatorial project on exhibiting long form films in multiple spatial and discursive contexts. The practice component of the project consists of the gallery display of Diaz's long films, an archival theatrical screening at Regent Street Cinema, a symposium and discussion series to be published in the online cinema journal NANG Magazine. The project's main publications include a peer reviewed journal article 'Exhibiting Lav Diaz's Long Films: Currencies of Circulation and Dialectics of Spectatorship' (Aniki: Portuguese Journal of the Moving Image, 4:2, 2017), and the article 'Long Walk to Life: the Films of Lav Diaz', published in the contemporary art journal Afterall (2015). The curatorial project was funded by UoW's Strategic Research Fund (2017)

Classical inequalities of Diaz - Metcalf and Pólya - Szegő are generalized to probabilistic setting which covers the initial deterministic (both discrete and integral) variants. From these two inequalities, by the probabilistic derivation method further well - known inequalities are obtained (that ones by Kantorovich, Rennie and Schweitzer)
