British Scientific Journals in the Area of International Relations – 2017 Review

Hizmet Movement and Turkish public diplomacy
An unsuccessful military coup d’etat took place in Turkey in 2016. The government in Ankara recognized a representatives of Hizmet Movement guilty of carrying it out. In retaliation they has begun actions to bring them to the court and at the same time criminalize an activity of their organization in Turkey. Ankara government demanded also the limitation of the functioning Hizmet supporters abroad. On the other hand, the key is the fact, that all the activities of Hizmet Movements all around the world has been a part of Turkish public diplomacy. So the ban of an activities of the organization abroad would affect both the Hizmet Movement and Turkish state. The article contains an explanations of the origin of the Hizmet Movement and it forms of activities, especially in Poland. There are also pointed out the possible consequences that the government in Ankara may face in the field of public diplomacy underestimating the role of this non-governmental organization which also had shaped the image of Turkey

The presented articles have been analyzed in context of thematic groups such as: terrorism, Middle East issues, UK migration policy, and Chinese policy.Artykuł stanowi przegląd artykułów opublikowanych w 2016 roku na łamach brytyjskich czasopism naukowych z obszaru stosunków międzynarodowych. Dokonano wyboru tekstów z 16 wydań czasopism: „International Relations”, „The British Journal of Politics and International Relations”, “Politics” oraz “Political Studies”. Prezentowane artykuły zostały przeanalizowane w ramach grup tematycznych takich jak: terroryzm, kwestie bliskowschodnie, polityka migracyjna Wielkiej Brytanii oraz polityka chińska

po programy pomocoweThe article describes the issue of Turkey's policy towards the crisis in Ukraine
which began in 2014. It is especially emphasizing the policy during the Crimean
crisis. Majority of analyzes of this crisis ignores the importance of a policy
led by the government in Ankara. The following article introduces factors that
link Turkey with Russia and Ukraine and present an impact that they have on
the relationship with those two countries including economic, political and
energy ties, as well as those connected with national minorities. The article
also analyzes each particular actions of Turkish government to the crisis starts
with official statements, to the assistance programs

The soft power in contemporary international relations is one of the basics of an effective foreign policy. Conceptualization of “soft power” term has western and liberal-democratic specifics. However, globalization, the interdependence and multi-channel communication of today’s international relations mean that states with policy systems different than liberal-democratic are also aware of its effectiveness. The main goal of this paper is to present the issue from the perspective of two countries – Turkey and Russia. The participation budget is nowadays more and more popular due to a democratic deficit on the level of local administration. People all over the world and (as stated in this article) also in Poland want to become a part of decision making process. They need to be heard. Because of that many mayors decide to implement in their cities the participation budget. Some of them want to give the people a tool that allows them to take a part of responsibility for city development. Others try to improve their public image thanks to the popularity of the participation budget and use this in the future for their reelection run
