Narradores de rua : uma resistência existencial
Get PDFEste trabalho nasce de uma iniciativa independente de um projeto de intervenção urbana na Avenida Independência, em Porto Alegre, que visa provocar uma aproximação e uma reflexão entre aqueles que transitam pela avenida e aqueles que lá habitam. Em constantes conversas com a população em situação de rua, pode-se perceber que aquela forma de contato não era habitual, que esta população era reduzida a uma identificação esquadrinhada por parte do Estado e de uma supressão subjetiva por parte da Sociedade Civil. Este trabalho tem como objetivo situá-los na sociedade através de suas narrativas, que dão suporte para sua existência no mundo em que estão inseridos. Trabalhará com uma bibliografia que se ocupa em entender o papel da narrativa na sociedade, nas ciências e na etnografia, a fim de estabelecer um laço entre elas e a realidade social dos narradores de rua. Tem o objetivo também de trazer à tona a discussão do papel do pesquisador enquanto responsável por escrever um texto que represente a sua experiência etnográfica e a relação com seus interlocutores no campo. Na tentativa de alcançar os objetivos, utiliza-se a metodologia da alegoria etnográfica, proposta por James Clifford e explorada em Tim Ingold. Clifford Geertz, Paul Zumthor, Roland Barthes e Loïc Wacquant servem como instrumento de estudo para a escrita desta experiência.This work born from an independent initiative of a project of urban intervention in Independence Avenue in Porto Alegre, which aims to make an approach and reflection among those transiting the avenue and those who dwell there. In constant conversations with the population living on the streets, you can see that that form of contact was unusual, that this population was reduced to an identification scrutinized by the State and a subjective suppression by Civil Society. This work aims to situate them in society through their narratives, which support for its existence in the world in which they live. Work with a bibliography that is concerned with understanding the role of narrative in society, science and ethnography in order to establish a link between them and the social reality of the narrator’s street. It aims also to bring up the discussion of the role of the researcher as responsible for writing a text that represents your ethnographic experience and relationship with its partners in the field. In seeking to achieve the objectives, uses the methodology of ethnographic allegory, proposed by James Clifford and explored in Tim Ingold. Clifford Geertz, Paul Zumthor, Roland Barthes and Loïc Wacquant serve as a tool to study the writing of this experience
Da ocupação à retomada: cartografando processos de subjetivação em território urbano
Get PDFOs acontecimentos das últimas décadas revelam que atravessamos uma crise civilizatória a nível global, comprometendo, no presente, a capacidade de antever um projeto de futuro para a sociedade fora dos referenciais fabricados e sustentados pelo arsenal científico e histórico oriundos da Europa ocidental, desde que se projetou como bastião da modernidade. A tese apoia-se na ideia de que as catástrofes contemporâneas são sintomas, e não anomalias, do projeto de consolidação do modo de produção capitalista, ancorado pelos enunciados cartesianos que prevêem a canonização de um sujeito universal autodeterminado sustentado por uma nova tecnologia de subjetivação de categorização humana guiado pela raça, prerrogativa sobre a qual respaldará o maior e perpétuo genocídio, etnocídio e epistemicídio já visto na história humana contra populações e erritórios que cultivam diferentes modos de existência. Investigará, inspirado na genealogia foucaultiana, a hipótese de uma suposta aliança entre a prática de governo necropolítica - denunciado primeiramente por Achille Mbembe - com a racionalidade de mercado neoliberal - tendo como base Pierre Dardot e Christian Laval - que orientam os processos de subjetivação do planejamento urbano. Para estreitar as fronteiras do urbano com a produção de subjetividade, a tese foca nas manifestações contra-hegemônicas dos segmentos periféricos que, com sua inventividade política, mobilizaram repertórios de diferentes territorialidades no espaço urbano para reivindicar seu reconhecimento, pertencimento e participação como sujeitos históricos na construção do Brasil. Tendo como base a descolonização do ser, do poder e do saber, optou-se pelo recurso da cartografia levada ao grau de radicalidade, na medida em que o pesquisador decide habitar existencialmente por seis meses no Assentamento 20 de Novembro. Em particular, acompanha o processo da Ocupação Baronesa que, em sua trajetória, se firmou como o primeiro Centro de Referência Indígena-Afro do RS na área central de Porto Alegre. Tal acontecimento abasteceu novos paradigmas epistemológicos tanto para o planejamento urbano na esfera institucional, acadêmica quanto para a luta pela reforma urbana na esfera militante.The reports of the last decades reveal that we are going through a civilizational crisis at a global level, compromising, in the present, the ability to anticipate a future project of society outside of the references manufactured and sustained by the scientific and historical arsenal originating in Western Europe, therefore, projects itself as a bastion of modernity. The thesis starts from the idea that contemporary catastrophes are symptoms, not anomalies, of the project to consolidate the capitalist mode of production, anchored in Cartesian statements that envision the canonization of a self-determined universal subject supported by a new technology of subjugation of human categorization guided by race, the prerogative of which one will bear the greatest and perpetual genocide, ethnocide and epistemicide ever seen in human history against populations and territories that cultivate different modes of existence. Inspired by Foucaultian genealogy, it will investigate a hypothesis of a supposed alliance between a necropolitical governmental practice – mainly denounced by Achille Mbembe - with a neoliberal market rationality - based on Pierre Dardot and Christian Laval - which guides the processes of subjectivity of Urban Planning. To narrow the borders between Urbanism and the production of subjectivity, this thesis focus in the counter-hegemonic manifestations of peripheral segments that, with their political inventiveness, mobilizes repertoires of different territorialities in the urban space to claim their recognition, appreciation and participation as their historical subjects in the construction of urban space in Brazil. Based on the decolonization of being, power and knowledge, we opted for the use of cartography as their radical level, according as the researcher decides to reside existentially for six months in Assentamento 20 de Novembro. Particularly, keep up with the process of Ocupação Baronesa that, in its trajectory, established itself as the first Indigenous-Afro Reference Center of RS in the central zone of Porto Alegre. This event fueled new epistemological paradigms both for urban planning as well the institutional and academic sphere as for the urban reform resistance in the militant sphere
Ensaios sobre o morrer : como escrever sobre algo que não se fala?
Get PDFEsta dissertação de mestrado põe em questão o morrer, verbo tão elástico que confunde-se com a própria vida. Partindo do pressuposto que o morrer é um processo que cabe aos vivos e, por isso, é atravessado pelas relações do sujeito com a verdade, o seguinte trabalho pretende analisar, a partir do instante presente, como a sociedade moderna ocidental se organizou para dar conta dos infinitos mistérios que a morte desperta nos indivíduos em paralelo com o projeto de governo do Estado de gestão e controle da população, a partir das práticas biopolíticas e da legitimidade do saber médico que prescreve o que é uma vida, quais são os valores que a determinam e sob que códigos e condutas os seres devem se submeter para serem considerados existentes. Aliado ao filósofo Michel Foucault e Giorgio Agamben, propõe-se um percurso sinuoso da emergência do racismo biológico e do racismo de Estado para refletir sobre os grandes genocídios do século XX, sob a perspectiva de uma Tanatopolítica. Através do recurso do ensaio, este trabalho provocará a pergunta: como escrever sobre algo que não se fala O ensaio, mais do que um método, é um artesania capaz de costurar o tempo e a história em busca do passado de nossas verdades presentes e um convite ao leitor a um livre flanar pelos rastros de um conhecimento subsumido das cátedras acadêmicas, mas que clama por sua palavra e seu sepultamento. Ensaiar é permitir, também, que a ficção, a poesia e a literatura entrem pela porta da frente na obstinação do saber. Se a ciência moderna carece de evidências acerca do morrer e seus processos, o ensaio responde, sem ferir os mistérios do mundo, com mais questões que permitem criar outras realidades, fora das instituídas. Junto com Walter Benjamin, Jorge Larrosa, Peter Pal Pelbart e outros filósofos, a dissertação problematiza a distância entre a pesquisa e a militância, flertando com o saber morrer e apostando no luto enquanto luta, ensaiando outras maneiras de dar sentido a ausência com a inventividade política dos movimentos de ocupação atuais para fazer frente ao projeto biopolítico.This master's dissertation questions dying: a verb so elastic that it is confused with life itself. Based on the assumption that dying is a process that belongs to the living and is therefore crossed by the subject's relations with the truth, the following work intends to analyze, from the present moment, how modern Western society organized itself to address the infinite mysteries that death awakens in the individuals in parallel with the state governor's project of management and control of the population, from the biopolitical practices and the legitimacy of the medical knowledge that prescribes what a life is, what the values that determine it are and under what codes and behaviors living beings must undergo to be considered existing. Allied with the philosophers Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben, it is proposed a sinuous route of the emergence of the biological racism and the racism of State to reflect on the great genocides of century XX, from the perspective of Tanatopolitics. This work will provoke the question in the form of an essay: how do we write about something that is not spoken The essay, more than a method, is a craft capable of sewing time and history in search of the past of our present truths and an invitation to the reader to a free walk through the traces of a subsumed knowledge of academic chairs, but that claims by its word and its burial. Essaying is to allow, also, that fiction, poetry, and literature enter the front door in the obstinacy of knowledge. If modern science lacks evidence about dying and its processes, this essay responds, without hurting the mysteries of the world, with more questions that enable us to create other realities, other than those instituted. Along with Walter Benjamin, Jorge Larrosa, Peter Pal Pelbart, and other philosophers, this dissertation problematizes the distance between research and militancy, flirting with the acceptance of dying, and betting on mourning while fighting, essaying other ways to make sense of absence with the political inventiveness of the current occupation movements facing the biopolitical project

A espiral da mimese de Ricoeur (1994) nos possibilita agenciar as derivas e intervenções urbanas como experiência narrada para entrever as singularidades que compõem a heterogeneidade do comum, e fazer emergir argumentos outros sobre a cidade vivida, capazes de deslocar a colonialidade do saber que ainda impera na disciplina urbanística.The conjecture of political, economic, and social instability that plagues the West in contemporaneity summons us to discuss epistemological premises as agencies of the urban issues in its coloniality, pointing towards the necessary rupture of a discursive authorization regime which renders narratives on the margins of hegemonic urban production invisible. To revise such premises implies denaturalizing the modus operandi of western urban planning, causing modes of subjectivation that escape the normativity imposed by the patriarchal and neoliberal system to emerge, and enabling urban practices which restore the common (Dardot, Laval, 2017) as alternative rationality to capitalism and as a complex composition of differences. From the acknowledgment of narrative as an epistemology of experience, the methodology seeks to cartograph the historically erased and excluded narratives of the city, in order to update and broaden the limits of research methods in urban studies, in view of the complexity of the contemporary city. Ricoeur’s (1994) mimetic spiral allows us to operate urban drifts and interventions as narrated experience to glance at the singularities that compose the heterogeneity of the common and to bring out other arguments about the living city, capable of shifting the coloniality of knowledge that still prevails in urban planning

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
