Electrochemical studies of polymer electrolytes
Oxymethylene-linked PEG400 (APEO) was prepared by a modified Williamson ether synthesis to form a high molecular weight host polymer. The electrochemical properties of various lithium salts dissolved in APEO were investigated using a novel method, the gap electrode cell, which was developed for the conductivity measurements of the polymer electrolyte samples. The work demonstrated the electrochemical method for the calculation of ionic conductivity without reference to the cell constant. The method yielded results which are in agreement with those obtained by the conventional cylindrical cell, except at lower temperatures.In view of the sensitivity of electrochemical devices to water, a study of equilibration of polymer electrolyte (APEO/LiCIO4) with a humidified gas phase was carried out at various values of relative humidity (0-80%). A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique was used for the determination of the water content in the electrolyte. The theory of the technique was reviewed to assess the effect of non-rigidity of sample films and to provide a method of correcting results for viscosity effects by measuring the admittance spectrum close to resonant frequency. For a film with 0.1 μm thickness it was possible to measure the mass change up to sufficient accuracy; however, for thicker films a correction due to fluidity was important especially at high hydration level. Three regimes of water interaction were recognised at 25°C: a strong water interaction below 1% relative humidity, followed by a region of linear increase in water uptake according to Henry's law until 60% humidity, and a region of an aqueous solution at >60% humidity. Conductivity change was found to be a more sensitive indicator of humidity than mass change; this effect was suggested as a device for a humidity sensor. A combined role of water as plasticizer and co-solvent was suggested to account for the complex relation between the ionic conductivity and polymer fluidity.</p

Temubual ini berkisah tentang latar belakang Dr. Mohammed Safaruddin bin Ismail dan pengalaman beliau berkhidmat sebagai Pegawai Protokol Pejabat Sultan Kelantan Istana Balai Besar. Ketika temuramah itu berlangsung kami dapat mengetahui serba sedikit sejarah dan reka bentuk bangunan Istana Balai Besar. Tambahan pula, temuramah ini dapat memberikan gambaran sebenar tentang struktur bangunan serta fungsi bangunan yang ada di dalam Istana Balai Besar. Di samping itu, temuramah ini memberi gambaran tentang pengalaman yang beliau lalui semasa berkhidmat disitu

Integrating waqf concept within the tourism sustainability framework: the stakeholders perspectives / Mohammed `Izzuddin Ismail
The purpose of this study is to observe the moderating effect of waqf contribution towards the economic pillar in the sustainability of the tourism industry in Malaysia. It examines the economic, socio-cultural, environmental, and transversal pillars contributing to the tourism industry's sustainability. The proposed model has assimilated pillars of tourism industry sustainability, sustainable development theory and waqf underlying model. This study empirically tested 150 respondents by using Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) method. The findings reveal that the model can explain 83% of the variance in the sustainability of the tourism industry. The result indicates that the economic, socio-cultural, environmental, and transversal pillars directly determine the sustainability of this industry. This study also found that the waqf contribution significantly moderates the economic pillar and tourism industry sustainability. Another possibility in enhancing the body of knowledge, a qualitative research design through the focus group discussion technique should be conducted to be more impactful. Future research can address an assessment of the waqf contribution programs among related parties in the tourism and waqf sector that should be carried out. Future research may also conduct in-depth studies on the role of sustainable pillars on tourism industry’s sustainability during and after global crises, such as COVID-19

An Investigation of Speech Acts Types Used in the Last Sermon of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
The types of speech acts in Prophet Mohammed's farewell sermon were investigated in this study. The last sermon of Prophet Mohammed was analyzed using the speech acts theory in this qualitative case study. According to the analysis, the sermon contains a variety of speech acts. Directives, assertives, commissives, declaratives, and expressives were the speech acts used in this sermon. This study is significant because the speaker is well-known, piquing the interest of many readers. Furthermore, because the sermon is clear and full of logical sentences, many readers, such as politicians, speechmakers, and researchers, may benefit from the choice of words or the structure of the sermon. Furthermore, this research is important for linguists and researchers.
