Why Open Educational Resources (OER) Are a Game-Changer for College Students
This blog post, written by Rasha Kawar explores the transformative potential of Open Educational Resources (OER) in higher education. Discussing how OER offers significant cost savings by providing free, accessible textbooks and course materials, alleviating the financial pressures many students face. From a personal perspective, the author reflects on their own experiences with costly textbooks and the frustration of purchasing materials that ultimately went unused. The post highlights how OER enhances student engagement by offering customizable, up-to-date content that can be tailored to course objectives, ensuring more relevant and dynamic learning experiences. Additionally, the author emphasizes how OER can support degree completion by reducing financial stress and enabling immediate access to resources. The blog ultimately advocates for OER as an essential tool for creating a more affordable, engaging, and supportive academic environment for students.

Acclimatization study of Tagetes lucida L. in Egypt and the chemical characterization of its essential oils
Seeds of Tagetes lucida were imported to Egypt from Canada and propagated under greenhouse conditions in peat moss media. Soil was sandy in texture and the irrigation system was dripping irrigation. The growth parameters were determined at five successive plant ages, fresh and dry weights of herb were determined at three successive plant ages. The yield of aerial parts after 175 days, was about 7.5 Mg/ha. The essential oil (EO) was extracted by hydro-distillation for three hours with a yield of about 0.5% (w/v). The EO of each sample was subjected to gas-chromatography/mass spectrometry analyses to study the chemical composition. The main component of the EO was identified as methyl chavicol which matched over 90% of the whole composition. Chlorophyll a and carotenes increased with increasing plant age in both sites and seasons. Flavonoids decreased with the development of plant age, while the opposite was true with coumarines content
Multicore-scalable file system
Thesis: S.M., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2014.This electronic version was submitted by the student author. The certified thesis is available in the Institute Archives and Special Collections.Cataloged from student-submitted PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 47-49).It is difficult to achieve durability and crash consistency in file systems along with multicore scalability. Commutative file system operations, which should scale according to the Scalable Commutativity Property, conflict on shared resources like coarse-grained locks and pages present in the page cache or buffer cache. Furthermore, data structures that are on separate cache lines in memory (e.g., directory entries) are grouped together when the file system writes them to disk for durability. This grouping results in additional conflicts. This thesis introduces a new design approach that decouples the in-memory file system from the on-disk file system, using per core operation logs. This facilitates the use of highly concurrent data structures for the in-memory representation, which is essential for commutative operations to proceed conflict free and hence scale perfectly. The in-memory representation does not propagate updates to the disk representation immediately, instead it simply logs the operation in a per core logical log. A sync or an fsync call processes these operations and applies them to the disk. Techniques based on time stamping linearization points of file system operations ensure crash consistency, and dependency tracking ensures good disk performance. A prototype file system, SCALEFS, implements this new approach and techniques. Experiments using COMMUTER and SCALEFS show that the implementation is conflict free for 99% of test cases involving commutative operations.by Rasha Eqbal.S.M
Predicting the relative humidity of allergic asthma using GA
Asthma is a serious chronic disease that affects the airways, and the occurrence of this disease depends on many factors, including psychological ones, and others because of specific foods, and others depend on weather conditions such as the ambient temperature and relative humidity of the air. In this research, the disease was diagnosed by identifying one of its causes, which is air humidity, which is an important factor for exacerbation of asthma, using one of the algorithms of artificial intelligence, which is the genetic algorithms, which depend on the symptoms of the disease and the degree of humidity in the air. Examples were extracted from contaminated and also non-infected individuals, and also the formula was related to them as well as the success price was 95%

Murder Frontiers and Guilty Identities: “Moors” and “Blacks” in the Spanish Literature of the New Millennium
The heterogeneity and the hybridism that characterize the present Spanish society, as opposed to the ethnocentrism of long ago, leaves their clear marks in the narrative production of the two last lustrums. In this work we will try to study the impact of the new social and political phenomenon on the present Spanish novel guided by what Arabic, Muslim and African heritage and the orientalism leave in the Spanish imaginary
The Extent to Which Labor Laws are Applied to Persons with Disabilities at the International and National Levels: Focusing on Theoretical Legal Texts and Practical Reality in Jordan and Saudi Arabia
This research aims to focus on people with disabilities in labor laws and the extent to which states are interested in giving them their rights to become a productive human being and participate in life-making and decision-making, and this will only happen if the person with disabilities is economically independent and depends on work guaranteed by law. Therefore, our research aimed to define the concept of disability, identify the types of disability through national legislation and in accordance with international conventions, in addition to clarifying the right of a person with disabilities to get a proper work that suits the kind of the disability he has as well as to focus on equality between them and healthy people. As a result, international and national laws have confirmed the protection of the disabled persons and their right to work. This great concern for the disabled has shown in real protection in public and private institutions through active participation and community integration. However, the problem of research is to reach a definition of the concept of persons with disabilities, in addition to the inadequacy of legal texts binding on the employments of the disabled and granting them their rights in a proper manner. This study examined the compatibility of national legislation with the international conventions governing the right of persons with disabilities to work as a group of society. The international and regional conventions of this category ensured that they have the right to equality and to work in the same way as other individuals in societies .Comparative constitutions, including the Jordanian Constitution, guarantee the protection of persons with disabilities and enable them to exercise their rights, notably the right to work . The statutes concerned the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, including the Jordanian Labour Law, which established the right of disabled persons to work and other relevant laws. The rights of persons with disabilities to protect the disabled in all institutions concerned with them through the active participation and social integration of the disabled to show his leading role in society and other bodies concerned with the work of the disabled and his personal freedom. The researcher concludes that the developed country is a pioneer in this field to developing countries, including Jordan, despite the great interest of the disabled, and this may due to the availability of financial resources and technological progress of those countries.
