Outlooks of therapy for genital herpes
Herpesvirus infections are widespread in humans. Approximately 6–10% of adults suffer from genital herpes and 10–20% of them have recurrent disease. Herpesvirus infections (including asymptomatic and silent forms) were found to have a negative effect on human reproductive health. Herpes simplex virus can infect germ cells, impair spermatogenesis, and play a certain pathogenetic role in the development of infertility. Herpes is a serious medical and social problem. Patients with recurrent herpes often have imbalanced immune responses involving interferons and other cytokines, as well as inhibition of cellular and phagocytic reactions of the organism. Meglumine acridone acetate, an interferon inducer, demonstrated high clinical and immunological efficacy in the treatment and prevention of recurrent herpes. The drug can be combined with other medications and is well tolerated by patients

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Cyclic lipopeptides with fungicidal activity from the sea isolate of the bacterium Bacillus subtilis
A mixture of cyclic lipopeptides with fungicidal activity was extracted from the sea isolate of the bacterium Bacillus subtilis (KMM 457). HPLC separation gave two main individual peptides of this mixture (M = 1030 and 1044 Da). According to amino acid analysis and H-1 and C-13 NMR data, they belong to iturin antibiotics and are cyclic systems composed of the same seven alpha-amino acids (2 Asn, Glu, Tyr, Pro, Thr, and Set) and one P-amino acid (3-aminotetradecanoic or 3-amino-13-methyltetradecanoic acid, respectively). The sequence of amino acids in these peptides was determined for the first time using tandem electrospray ionization mass spectrometry
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Mean flow generation by Görtler Vortices in a rotating annulus with librating side walls
Longitudinal libration of the cylinder side walls of a rotating annulus in the supercritical regime induces a centrifugally unstable Stokes boundary layer which generates Görtler vortices only in a portion of a libration cycle. We show for the first time that these vortices propagate into the fluid bulk and generate an azimuthal mean flow which is retrograde (prograde) over the outer (inner) cylinder side wall. Direct numerical simulations (DNS) are carried out and Reynolds-averaged equations and kinetic energy budget of mean and fluctuating flow are used as diagnostic equations to discuss the generation mechanism and scaling behavior of the azimuthal mean flow in the fluid bulk
BRISC-V emulator: a standalone, installation-free, browser-based teaching tool
Many computer organization and computer architecture classes have recently started adopting the RISC-V architecture as an alternative to proprietary RISC ISAs and architectures. Emulators are a common teaching tool used to introduce students to writing assembly. We present the BRISC-V (Boston University RISC-V) Emulator and teaching tool, a RISC-V emulator inspired by existing RISC and CISC emulators. The emulator is a web-based, pure javascript implementation meant to simplify deployment, as it does not require maintaining support for different operating systems or any installation. Multivariate Polarimetric Bistatic Clutter Statistical Analysis
This paper deals with the analysis of simultaneously collected co- and cross-polarized bistatic sea-clutter returns with special emphasis on their representation as a Spherically Invari-ant Random Process (SIRP). The study is conducted by using appropriate testing procedures involving the complex envelope of the measured data that provide both first- and higher-order compatibility conditions. A Guiding Vector-Field algorithm for path-following control of nonholonomic mobile robots
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for path-following control of the nonholonomic mobile robot based on the idea of the guiding vector field (GVF). The desired path may be an arbitrary smooth curve in its implicit form, that is, a level set of a predefined smooth function. Using this function and the robot's kinematic model, we design a GVF, whose integral curves converge to the trajectory. A nonlinear motion controller is then proposed, which steers the robot along such an integral curve, bringing it to the desired path. We establish global convergence conditions for our algorithm and demonstrate its applicability and performance by experiments with wheeled robots.Accepted Author ManuscriptTeam Tamas Keviczk
