É licenciada em História, variante de Arqueologia (Universidade de Coimbra) e mestre em Museologia (Universidade de Évora) com a dissertação intitulada: “A Rede de Museus do Algarve: Funcionamento e Potencialidades” (2012). Há vários anos ao serviço dos museus, tem neste contexto dirigido o seu enfoque para trabalhos ligados à arqueologia, nomeadamente arqueologia experimental, ao inventário e às redes de museus. Integrou desde o início o grupo de profissionais que criaram a Rede de Museus do Algarve (2007). Seu interesse por autores do “jornalismo não convencional” fez com que se aproximasse do jornalismo literário, tanto que, em 2016, foi eleita presidente da International Association for Literary Journalism Studies (IALJS). Ela se define como portuguesa com raízes alemãs. Hoje, sua experiência como pesquisadora, amante das línguas, das viagens e da escrita tem contribuído para dar visibilidade aos estudos em jornalismo literário português.The Germanic languages investigated by Isabel Soares as an undergraduate student gave way to the Anglo-Portuguese studies she developed as a Master’s and PhD candidate. Now a Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lisbon, she is also the author of two books which she calls “pseudofictional”, because they have an “autobiographical foundation”. Her interest on authors connected to the “unconventional journalism” has brought her closer to literary journalism, so much so that, in 2016, she was elected president of the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies (IALJS). She defines herself as Portuguese with German roots. Today, her experience as a researcher, lover of languages, travels and writing contributes to making the studies on Portuguese literary journalism more visible.Las investigaciones en lenguas germánica del grado de Isabel Soares dieron paso, en su maestría y en su doctorado, a los estudios angloportugueses. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDFProf. Dr. Ana Isabel Soares has a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (Portuguese/English) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, a PhD from the Program in Theory of Literature and a post-doctorate in Theory of Literature, on relations between Portuguese documentary films and poetry, all from the same Faculty. She has been an Associate Professor at the University of Algarve since 1996, where she teaches History of Cinema, Image Theory, Cultural Studies, Literature and Cinema, and English Literature. She has been vice-director of the Department of Arts and Humanities at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Algarve since February 2024 and is an integrated member of the Research Center for Arts and Communication. She was part of the founding team of AIM - Association of Moving Image Researchers, of which she was the first President (2010-2014). She was Assistant Secretary of State for Primary and Secondary Education at the Portuguese Ministry of Education and Science, where she took part in the launch of the National Film Plan (2011-2012). In this interview, she talks about her academic career, how she got closer to literature and cinema, the stages in the creation and implementation of the National Film Plan in Portugal and the importance of audiovisual literacy for a more critical consumption of the moving images that circulate in today\u27s various media, as well as their importance for more creative uses of these same media in the production of content.Ana Isabel Soares es licenciada en Lenguas y Literaturas Modernas (portugués/inglés) por la Facultad de Letras de la Universidad de Lisboa, doctora por el Programa de Teoría de la Literatura y posdoctorada en Teoría de la Literatura sobre la relación entre el cine documental portugués y la poesía, todos por la misma Facultad. Es vicedirectora del Departamento de Artes y Humanidades de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad del Algarve desde febrero de 2024 y miembro integrante del Centro de Investigación en Artes y Comunicación. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Perturbação reactiva de vinculação e competências sociais em crianças institucionalizadas
Get PDFOrientação: Joana Isabel Soares BaptistaOs estudos têm demonstrado a manifestação dos comportamentos perturbados da vinculação em crianças em acolhimento institucional temporário, sendo que os autores apontam inúmeros riscos associados a estas crianças que justificam a procura sistemática de informação neste âmbito. Nesta linha de pensamento, e motivada pela escassez de estudos no âmbito desta temática, o presente trabalho procura compreender as associações entre a perturbação reativa da vinculação e as competências sociais da criança, tendo em conta os fatores sociodemográficos. Trata-se de um estudo observacional/descritivo, correlacional e transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 35 crianças de ambos os sexos de sete instituições da zona norte de Portugal. Dos resultados apurados não foram encontradas diferenças de género ao nível da perturbação reactiva de vinculação nem associação da mesma com a idade e o tempo de institucionalização. Foram encontradas associações positivas significativas entre o tipo inibido e as subescalas relação com os pares, competências académicas e total da escala de competências e correlação negativa significativa entre o tipo desinibido e a relação com os pares. Estudos devem continuar a incidir sobre a investigação nesta área de forma a serem promovidas intervenções cada vez mais eficazes.Studies have shown the manifestation of disturbed behaviors of attachment in children in temporary residential care and the authors suggest a number of risks associated with these children justify the systematic search for information in this area. In this line of thinking and motivated by the scarcity of studies under this theme, this paper seeks to understand the associations between reactive attachment disorder and social skills of the child, taking into account sociodemographic factors. This is an observational / descriptive, correlational and cross. The sample consisted of 35 children of both sexes of seven institutions of the north of Portugal. Findings were not found gender differences in the level of reactive attachment disorder or the same association with age and duration of institutionalization. Significant positive associations were found between the type and inhibited subscales peer relations, academic skills and total scale of skills and significant negative correlation between the type uninhibited and peer relations. Studies should continue to focus on research in this area in order to be promoted interventions increasingly effective
