    Have freedom, will travel: gendered discourses in the War on Terror

    This project examines how women traveling from North America and Western Europe to Afghanistan in the era of the War on Terror go about making media about Afghan women, and considers the experience of contemporary travelers alongside those of European women who traveled to the Muslim world in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. This work expands on and revises existing cultural studies scholarship on the representation of brown bodies in a post 911 world, using an anti-colonial lens to examine the work of journalists, independent documentary filmmakers, and activists. It pays particular attention to the varied ways in which the concept of feminism is deployed to advocate for or against ongoing military occupation of Afghanistan. This project asks: what is the relationship between feminism, Afghan women, and the War on Terror? It examines articles, broadcasts, images, films and websites, produced about Afghan women alongside interviews, memoirs, and other materials these traveling women make about their own experiences of being “liberated” women working within the danger of the war zone and the “traditional” culture of Afghanistan. It examines intersections of race, ethnicity, citizenship, and class with gender through an analysis of the term traveling women use to describe their experience of being foreign and female in Afghanistan – the ‘third sex.’ This work traces how the ‘third sex’ come to be in Afghanistan after 911, and how they access Afghan women. This makes visible the networks of media, military, and non-governmental agencies they rely on there and how these relationships shape news output in the war zone. I then parse out the conflicting perspectives of liberal feminists and radical feminists as they emerge online in the discourse on militarism and Afghan women’s liberation, making visible the relationships amongst Afghan and non-Afghan feminist organizations and media outlets. The conflicts that emerge amongst liberal and radical feminists are indicative of the challenges that arise when feminists attempt to articulate cross-cultural, global, concepts of gender equality and liberation. These challenges are compounded by the context of the War on Terror, and the use of humanitarian logics to rationalize military endeavors.Ph. D.Includes bibliographical referencesby Isra Al

    ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui manajemen strategi pengurus masjid dalam meningkatkan kesadaran beribadah shalat jamaah di Masjid Jami Al-Isra Beringin Raya Bandar Lampung yang merupakan sarana menuju keberhasilan dalam mencapai tujuan sebuah organisasi. Sehingga penyusunan strategi oleh para pengurus masjid perlu adanya tahapan-tahapan agar tercapainya tujuan yang hendak dicapai oleh pengurus Masjid Jami Al-Isra. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan oleh penulis ialah jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data-data yang diperoleh penulis merupakan hasil yang mengenai strategi dan manajemen strategi pengurus masjid dalam meningkatkan kesadaran beribadah jemaah. Teori-teori berserta data penunjang lainnya penulis peroleh dari kepustakaan dan dokumentasi di Masjid Jami Al-Isra Beringin Raya Bandar Lampung. Interview penulis lakukan dengan ketua Masjid Jami Al-Isra Beringin Raya dan perwakilan penasehat masjid serta pengurus masjid lainnya yang dianggap dapat memberikan informasi yang dibutuhkan oleh penulis dalam penelitian. Observasi penulis lakukan dengan mengamati langsung bagaimana strategi-strategi pengurus masjid dilakukan, serta mencatat data-data yang terlihat dari peningkatan jemaah yang ada saat ini. Dokumentasi yang digunakan penulis dalam mencari data yaitu berupa catatan, buku, dan juga daftar agenda yang berhubungan dengan judul penulis. Semua data tersebut merupakan bahan-bahan untuk mendeskripsikan tahapan-tahapan pengurus Masjid Jami Al-Isra dalam membentuk strategi guna meningkatkan kesadaran beribadah shalat jamaah. Dari hasil penelitian penulis telah menunjukkan bahwa, manajemen strategi yang dilakukan oleh pengurus Masjid Jami Al-Isra sesuai dengan teori manajemen strategi yang ada dimana secara umum yaitu melalui tahap perencanaan strategi, penyusunan strategi, imlementasi atau pelaksanaan strategi, dan evaluasi strategi. Pengurus Masjid Jami Al-Isra dalam meningkatkan kesadaran beribadah jemaah dengan cara mengajak jamaah secara langsung dan tidak langsung serta memberikan pemahaman kepada jemaah melalui kegiatan masjid. Kata Kunci : Manajemen Strategi, Pengurus Masjid, Kesadaran Beribadah.ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the strategic management of mosque administrators in increasing awareness of congregational prayer services at the Al-Isra Beringin Raya Jami Mosque, Bandar Lampung, which is a means to success in achieving the goals of an organization. So the preparation of strategies by mosque administrators requires stages in order to achieve the goals that the Jami Al-Isra Mosque administrators want to achieve. The type of research used by the author is qualitative research using interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. The data obtained by the author are the results regarding the strategy and management strategies of mosque administrators in increasing awareness of congregational worship. The authors obtained the theories and other supporting data from literature and documentation at the Al-Isra Beringin Raya Jami Mosque, Bandar Lampung. The author conducted interviews with the chairman of the Jami Al-Isra Beringin Raya Mosque and representatives of mosque advisors and other mosque administrators who were deemed able to provide the information needed by the author in the research. The author's observations were made by directly observing how the mosque management's strategies were carried out, as well as recording visible data from the current increase in congregation. The documentation used by the author in searching for data is in the form of notes, books, and also a list of agendas related to the author's title. All of this data is material to describe the stages of the Jami Al-Isra Mosque management in forming a strategy to increase awareness of congregational prayer services. From the results of the author's research, it has been shown that the strategic management carried out by the Al-Isra Jami Mosque administrators is in accordance with existing strategic management theory, which in general is through the stages of strategic planning, strategy preparation, strategy implementation or implementation, and strategy evaluation. The management of the Jami Al-Isra Mosque increases awareness of congregational worship by inviting the congregation directly and indirectly and providing understanding to the congregation through mosque activities.     Penafsiran Ibnu Katsir terhadap Ayat-Ayat Isra’ Mikraj

    Faith means belief in the heart, words in the mouth and practice with the limbs. Every believer must believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and belief in both good and bad destiny. Believing in the miracles of the apostles includes believing in the apostles. Among the miracles of the Prophet SAW is the Isra 'Mikraj event. This event is clearly mentioned in QS. al-Isrā' (17): 1 and QS. al-Najm (53): 5-18. This incident is also found in the hadiths of various narrations. The commentators have described in depth this great event, among them is Ibn Kathir. In the theory of creed, the arguments and proofs related to the issue of faith must be with definite arguments (qath'i), and cannot use conjectures (dzan). However, Ibn Kathir uses the dha'īf hadith and the āhād hadith in his interpretation of Isra' Mikraj. The research method used by the author is library research, including secondary data collection and processing of the data that has been obtained using descriptive-analytical methods. The author collects data according to the findings, then analyzes the data and understands Ibn Kathir's thoughts on the verses related to Isra and Mikraj. Iman berarti keyakinan dalam hati, perkataan di lisan dan amalan dengan anggota badan. Setiap mukmin wajib beriman kepada Allah Swt, malaikat-malaikat-Nya, kitab-kitab-Nya, Rasul-Rasul-Nya, hari akhir, dan beriman kepada takdir baik maupun yang buruk. Mempercayai mukjizat-mukjizat para rasul termasuk beriman kepada rasul. Di antara mukjizat Nabi Saw adalah peristiwa Isra’ Mikraj. Peristiwa tersebut disebut secara jelas dalam QS. al-Isrā’ (17): 1 dan QS. al-Najm (53): 5-18. Peristiwa ini juga terdapat dalam hadis dari pelbagai riwayat. Para mufasir telah menguraikan dengan mendalam peristiwa besar ini, di antaranya adalah Ibnu Katsir. Dalam teori akidah, dalil dan hujjah yang berkaitan dengan masalah akidah haruslah dengan dalil yang pasti (qath‘i), tidak bisa menggunakan dugaan (dzan). Namun, Ibnu Katsir menggunakan hadis dha‘īf dan hadis āhād dalam penafsirannya tentang Isra’ Mikraj. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penulis adalah library research (penelitian kepustakaan), meliputi pengumpulan data sekunder dan mengolah data-data yang telah didapatkan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis. Penulis menghimpun data sesuai hasil temuan, lalu melakukan analisis data tersebut dan memahami pemikiran Ibnu Katsir terhadap ayat-ayat yang berkaitan dengan Isra’ dan Mikraj.

    Pendidikan Akhlak Dalam Al-Qur'an (Analisis Ayat 23-24 Surah Al-Isra')

    The decline of akhlak al-karimah is due to the lack of understanding of Muslims of the Qur'an so that the moral values in the Qur'an are not applied in everyday life properly and correctly. Therefore, to purify the values that are not relevant to the teachings of the Qur'an, the only effort that can be made is to return to the teachings contained therein. Departing from this background, the author intends to discuss moral education in the Qur'an through analyzing the moral verses of surah al-Isra' 23-24. The purpose of the research is to find out the value contained in the verse and then what methods are used to apply to students. The type of research that the author uses is descriptive qualitative with library research method. The data collection method is carried out through the stages of collecting/searching for literature related to the object of research. Then the final step in data analysis, the author uses content analysis by first conducting a review of the verses related to moral education. Then analyze the results of his research with the theory used. The results of this study indicate that the values of moral education contained in surah al-Isra' verses 23-24 include: (a) moral education to Allah SWT, and (b) moral education to parents. And the methods that can be used for students in applying these values, namely: (a) advice method (b) punishment (c) habituation, and (d) exemplary

    This research discusses how the Qu’ran lives in the midst of society or is called the Living Quran. In this case the author focuses on discussing the use of verses of the Qur'an as a medium for the treatment of both medical and non-medical diseases, or in general terms is Ruqyah Syar'iyah. Ruqyah Syar'iyah is the application of prayer using certain verses in the Qur'an. Certain readings or spells that have existed since the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Besides that, there are also certain verses chosen by the Ulama'. The author himself in this study conducted research on the use of one of the verses in the Al-Qur'an which had been certified and used as a medium for the treatment of medical and non-medical diseases by members of the Al-Muslimun Blitar respiratory science institute who was cared for by K.H. Muhtaram and trainers at the Al-Muslimun Blitar foundation. The focus of the discussion of this study is related to how the process / ritual of treatment using Q.S Al Isra 'verse 82 and how the impact is given to patients treated with Q.S media. Al-Isra' verse 82. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with phenomenological analysis. The results showed that in carrying out the treatment process using Q.S. Al-Isra' verse 82, through several steps in accordance with the instructions that have been exemplified by the trainer or the leadership of the institution. Among them, namely the combination of control prayer, open prayer, treatment prayer, withdrawal prayer and closing prayer, if the patient is indicated by a non-medical illness. If it is enough for a medical illness to read a prayer for treatment, then blow on the mediator (medicine intermediary object) the mediator should preferably be liquid. It is more important to use young coconut water. The impact of existing treatments at the Al-Muslimun respiratory science institute on medical and non-medical diseases. After conducting various studies, the results show that Q.S. Al-Isra' 82 has a positive impact in the form of healing for patients suffering from non-medical diseases. Unlike the case with medical illnesses, the treatment does not have an impact on the illness. Medical treatment only functions as a complementary or supporting medium after medical drugs have been administered to the patient's recovery.     Makna Abdun dalam surat Al Isra Ayat 1 perspektif Tafsir Al Munir

    ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi keagungan makna abdun pada surat al isra dan sesuatu yang berhubungan dengannya dengan penyebutan kata itu kepada Rasulullah. Abdun adalah sebutan untuk makhluk Allah yang sempurna dan memiliki derajat tersendiri. Banyaknya pendapat tentang kebenaran dan hal hal yang tersirat pada peristiwa khariqul adah (isra mi’raj) salah satunya adalah menguak kata bi’abdihi dan maknanya menurut Wahbah al-Zuhaily sebagai pokok utama kajian ini, yang kedua tentang bagaimana nilai spirit Abdun terhadap konteks saat ini. Dalam menjawab permasalahan tersebut, digunakan metode penelitian library research (penelitian kepustakaan). Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi pada tafsir Al Munir karya Wahbah Al Zuhaily, dengan menggunakan teori (manhaj) tafsir tahlili. Analisis dilakukan mencari ayat al-Quran terdapat kata abdun, dengan cara teori pertama membahas mengenai makna abdun dan ditujukannya kepada siapa, dengan melalui pendekatan aspek bahasa dan yang melatarbelakangi turunnya ayat tersebut dan kaitannya dengan ayat lain. Dengan hasil bahwa makna spiritualitas abdun pada QS. Al Isra ayat 1 menurut pendapat Wahbah Az-Zuhaili pada kitab tafsir Al-Munir adalah ‘abd (hamba) yang meliputi ruh dan jasad. Allah memberi sifat "hamba" kepada Muhammad saw. karena menghamba kepada Allah merupakan kedudukan yang paling mulia, semulia hubungan Tuhan (Allah) dengan hamba-Nya (Muhammad). Dalam posisi sebagai penerima wahyu, Allah juga menyebutnya dengan sifat yang sama yaitu sebagai hamba. Adapun Nilai spirit pada masa ini adalah nilai rendah hati sebagai seorang hamba biasa melihat sikap rasul yang tetap tawadhu’ setelah mendapat kemulyaan. Kemudian nilai kekokohan hubungan hamba dengan tuhannya karna kedekatannya, melalui media sholat yang merupakan syariat yang dibawa rasul pasca isra mi’raj. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the majesty of abdun's meaning in surah al isra and something related to it by mentioning that word to the Prophet. In the view of society, the meaning of the word servant in abdun is very ordinary because it is used and well-known to be mentioned to people and ordinary people. Even though abdun is a term for Allah's creatures that are perfect and have their own degree. The background of this study is also based on the author's interest in the many opinions about the truth and things that are implied in the khariqul adah (isra mi'raj) event. The main points of this discussion are how the meaning of abdun in verse 1 of al isra and its spirituality, the second is about how an idealistic Abdun servant contained in this letter is accompanied by the thought of wahbah az zuhaily on Munir's interpretation. In answering these problems, the author uses the research method of library research (library research). the author explains the two theoretical studies that will be studied, namely the first theory discusses the meaning of abdun in general, namely through the approach and the second theory uses the theory of the maudhu'i method in the study of verses about abdun within the scope of isra mi'raj. The object of research is a problem that will be studied by researchers. The problem is the meaning of abdun's spirituality in QS. Al Isra verse 1 according to Wahbah Az-Zuhaili's opinion on Al-Munir's commentary. Finally, the explanation that will be presented is about the meaning of the spirituality of abdun QS. Al Isra Verse 1 and Wahbah Az-Zuhaili's response in his commentary, namely Al-Munir. Abdun in surah al isra verse 1 namely Muhammad saw.. The word al-'abd (servant) includes the soul and body. Here Allah gives the character of "servant" to Muhammad saw. because serving Allah is the most noble position. In his position as a recipient of revelation, Allah also calls him with the same nature, namely as a servant. According to the ijma of mufasir, what is meant by servant in lafadz ¬abdun is Rasulullah saw. isra'kan with the soul and body from Mecca to Baitul Maqdis.     Overview the Quality of Popular Hadith about Isra\u27 Mi\u27raj in the Book of Dardir \u27Ala Qishatul Mi\u27raj

    This article examines the quality of the popular hadith about Isra \u27Mi\u27raj contained in the book Dardir \u27Ala Qishatul Mi\u27raj. This hadith is often used by preachers without first examining the quality of the hadith. This problem is then investigated through library research. In processing the data the author uses the takhrij al-hadith method, which is tracing the hadith that the author will examine into the original source in order to find out how the quality of the hadith studied is. The results of this study explain that the quality of the hadith which consists of three popular hadiths about Isra\u27 Mi\u27raj contained in the book Dardir \u27Ala Qishatul Mi\u27raj is of Hasan quality. The syarah of the hadith reveals that there has been a cleavage of the Prophet\u27s chest which was then filled with faith and wisdom, the command to pray and about Sidratul Muntaha at which time the Prophet was given three things, namely the command to pray, closing the letter Al-Baqarah and forgiveness of sins for those who do not associate Allah Swt

    ABSTRAK Isra Annisa (1710401004) Karya sastra terlahir dari kekreativitasan manusia, hal tersebut tentunya juga melibatkan peristiwa sosial dan budaya yang ada dikalangan masyarakat. Begitu pula dengan Novel “لا تسألني لماذا أحببتها”, tentunya Ahmad Saeed Murad juga menambahkan sentuhan dunia nyata di dalam proses pembuatan novelnya. Tujuan dari penelitian kali ini adalah untuk menganalisis sejauh mana pencerminan profesi pengarang ke dalam novelnya. Dengan judul penelitian “Cerminan Profesi Pengarang Dalam Novel لا تسألني لماذا أحببتهاkarya Ahmad Saeed Murad (Pendekatan Mimetik)”. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan kajian kepustakaan. Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis adalah pendekatan mimetik, yang mana pendeketan tersebut digunakan untuk menganalisa cerminan dari profesi pengarang sebagai seorang dokter ke dalam karyanya yang juga didukung oleh biografi dari pengarang. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat melalui gambaran aktivitas tokoh yang ada di dalam novelnya, dan banyaknya penggunaan kata dalam dunia medis di dalam novel. Hasil dari penelitian ini faktor biografi pengarang ternyata berpengaruh terhadapp karyanya, hal tersebut terlihat dari banyaknya penggunaan kata medis di dalam novelnya dan kegiatan-kegiatan yang bersangkutan dengan profesi seorang dokter. Dalam penelitian kali ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa, pengarang terinspirasi dari kehidupan nyatanya. Dan dari apa yang telah ia lihat, dengar bahkan ia alami beliau mengkreasikannya dengan imajinasi yang kemudian ia tuangkan kedalam karyanya. Selain itu novel yang digunakan sebagai objek penelitian kali ini juga memiliki pembelajaran tertentu, contohnya kecakapan yang dimiliki tokoh Saadawi dan para rekan kerjanya dalam mengambil tindakan terhadap para pasiennya. Yang mana dari novel ini terlihat dedikasi seorang dokter dengan penelitian dan pengetahuan yang memadai, didukung dengan sikap mementingkan kepentingan pasien yang mana hal tersebut sangat diperlukan dalam penanganan pasien. The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which the author's profession is reflected in the novel. With the research title "The Reflection of the Author's Profession in the Novel “لا تسألني لماذا أحببتها”, by Ahmad Saeed Murad (Mimetic Approach)". The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with literature review. The theory used to analyze is the mimetic approach, in which the approach is used to analyze the reflection of the author's profession as a doctor into his work which is also supported by the author's biography. This can be seen through the description of the activities of the characters in the novel, and the many uses of words in the medical world in the novel. The results of this study indicate that the author's biographical factor has an effect on his work, this can be seen from the many uses of medical words in his novels and activities related to the profession of a doctor. In this study, it can be concluded that the author was inspired by real life. And from what he has seen, heard and even experienced, he creates it with imagination which he then pours into his work. In addition, the novel that is used as the object of this research also has certain lessons, for example the skills possessed by the character Saadawi and his colleagues in taking action against their patients. Which from this novel shows the dedication of a doctor with adequate research and knowledge, supported by an attitude of prioritizing the interest of patients which is very necessary in patient care.     Adultery is a social problem that always exists in every era. There is a lot of evil that arises from adultery. Adultery is an act that is prohibited by Allah SWT from being committed by Muslims. The prohibition is contained in the QS. Al-Isra ': 32. Interestingly, the prohibition is not directly aimed at the object (adultery), but rather the prohibition to approach things that lead to adultery in the letter, written La> Taqrabu> al-Zina> (don't approach adultery). The commentators, from classical to contemporary commentators, have different interpretations of this verse. Due to the uniqueness of the use of the editorial plus the many different interpretations of the verse pieces, the author is interested in discussing the interpretation of La> Taqrabu> al-Zina> in Buya Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar and Al-Mishbah by Quraish Shihab which has an adabi> ijtima> styl. This literature research uses divine theory and an interpretive approach. The analytical method used by the author is a comparative analysis method with ta'lili reasoning. The results of this study found that there are two aspects of similarities and differences, namely in the methodological aspect and the interpretation aspect of La> Taqrabu> al-Zina in Tafsir Al-Azhar and Tafsri Al-Mishbah.
