Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Get PDFOBJETIVO: Analizar la utilidad de la sedación consciente en el área odontológica mediante una revisión de la literatura. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se efectuó una selección de artículos para hacer un análisis reflexivo y crítico de documentos originales de los últimos 5 años, correspondientes a las bases científicas como: Google académico, Web of Science, Scielo, PubMed, Scopus y Ebscohost. Se aceptaron un total 45 investigaciones publicadas en idiomas tales como el español, inglés y portugués. Los criterios de inclusión que se utilizaron en el estudio fueron textos de acceso completo, artículos que pertenezcan al área de investigación odontológica y se rechazaron 9 artículos por ser textos incompletos, 13 investigaciones no correspondían a los últimos 5 años de publicación y 11 que no estaban relacionadas con el tema. Para la selección de la información se utilizó descriptores MeSH Y DeCs. RESULTADOS: Se determinó que existe un grupo importante de sedantes, útiles en el ámbito clínico odontológico, entre ellos midazolam, óxido nitroso, sevofluorano, ketamina, propofol y fentanilo, medicamentos que se pueden adaptar a la característica del procedimiento y perfil del paciente; por tanto, pueden ser administrados por distintas vías y su dosis dependerá del tipo de tratamiento y su duración. CONCLUSIÓN: La sedación consciente constituye una alternativa útil, para la reducción del comportamiento inadecuado del paciente en los procedimientos odontológicos, además, permite a que el profesional odontólogo brinde una atención eficaz y eficiente.OBJECTIVE: To analyze the usefulness of conscious sedation in the dental area through a review of the literature. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A selection of articles was made to make a reflexive and critical analysis of original documents from the last 5 years, corresponding to scientific bases such as: Google academic, Web of Science, Scielo, PubMed, Scopus and Ebscohost. A total of 45 studies published in languages such as Spanish, English and Portuguese were accepted. The inclusion criteria used in the study were full access texts, articles that belong to the dental research area and 9 articles were rejected for being incomplete texts, 13 investigations did not correspond to the last 5 years of publication and 11 that were not related to the topic. For the selection of information, MeSH and DeCs descriptors were used. RESULTS: It was determined that there is an important group of sedatives, useful in the clinical dental field, including midazolam, nitrous oxide, sevoflurane, ketamine, propofol and fentanyl, drugs that can be adapted to the characteristics of the procedure and the patient's profile; therefore, they can be administered by different routes and their dose will depend on the type of treatment and its duration. CONCLUSION: Conscious sedation constitutes a useful alternative for reducing the patient's inappropriate behavior in dental procedures, in addition, it allows the dental professional to provide effective and efficient care..Trabajo de investigación
