    ExoMol line lists - III. An improved hot rotation-vibration line list for HCN and HNC

    No full text
    A revised rotation-vibration line list for the combined hydrogen cyanide (HCN)/hydrogen isocyanide (HNC) system is presented. The line list uses ab initio transition intensities calculated previously and extensive data sets of recently measured experimental energy levels. The resulting line list has significantly more accurate wavelengths than previous ones for these systems. An improved value for the separation between HCN and HNC is adopted, leading to an approximately 25 per cent lower predicted thermal population of HNC as a function of temperature in the key 2000 to 3000 K region. Temperature-dependent partition functions and equilibrium constants are presented. The line lists are validated by comparison with laboratory spectra and are presented in full as supplementary data to the article and at www.exomol.com

    Evaluation of possible source rocks in northern Nye County, Nevada: implications for hydrocarbon exploration

    No full text
    The presence of oil outside of Railroad Valley, northern Nye County has sparked the interest of exploration companies in Nevada. The geology in this region is very complex and the level of petroleum exploration is low. In order to understand the distribution of oil, a complete petroleum systems analysis is required. Previous studies confirmed that the Mississippian Chainman Shale and Cretaceous to Paleocene Sheep Pass Formation, Member B are source rocks. However, a number of other possible source rocks exist in northern Nye County, but they are not confirmed because of incomplete datasets. The goal of this thesis project is to determine if effective source rocks other than the Chainman Shale and Sheep Pass Formation exist in northern Nye County. I obtained samples from outcrops and used organic geochemistry to test the hypothesis that different strata, including Paleozoic Vinini, Pogonip, Woodruff, Guilmette Formations, Pilot Shale, Ely Limestone, and Cretaceous Newark Canyon Formation have the necessary qualities to be petroleum source rocks. This evaluation revealed source rock potential for Woodruff Formation, but none of the other analyzed candidate units met the requirements for organic matter quantity, quality, and thermal maturity in order to be called source rocks. The Devonian Woodruff Formation displayed excellent organic matter quantity, and oil-prone kerogen type, however samples appeared to be thermally immature. Additional oil - source rock correlation suggested genetic relationship between the Woodruff Formation and Chainman-derived oils from Railroad Valley. This knowledge will help to estimate the petroleum potential of northern Nye County for future exploration and development in Nevada

    Currently, e-commerce is becoming a modern challenge to accelerate the development of the global economy. This requires the introduction of qualitatively new approaches to the strategic management of activities using information technology. The purpose of this article is to study the key issues, features and trends in the development of e-commerce in the context of international business digitalisation on the example of international online marketplaces. This paper analyses the risks and benefits, distribution logistics issues for the development of e-commerce, and its positive and negative impact on trade in general. It is determined that today the pace of development of e-commerce is very fast, significantly exceeding the pace of development of traditional trade. An important indicator of a successful e-commerce business strategy is a clear vision and implementation of the strategy of involving marketplaces in the trading strategy. A clear understanding of which marketplace best suits the needs of the business and competent implementation significantly increases the chances of making a quick profit in online trading. The article notes that the business model of marketplaces is considered to be promising, as it is beneficial for both the seller and the buyer. This paper considers the key and most well-known globally recognized marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay and Etsy, their main advantages and disadvantages, comparative characteristics of marketplaces and how to effectively integrate products into these tools, as well as the future implications of these concepts for distribution logistics in the context of e-commerce

    Trypanosomatids are common and diverse parasites of Drosophila

    Drosophila melanogaster is an important model system of immunity and parasite resistance, yet most studies use parasites that do not naturally infect this organism. We have studied trypanosomatids in natural populations to assess the prevalence and diversity of these gut parasites. We collected several species of Drosophila from Europe and surveyed them for trypanosomatids using conserved primers for two genes. We have used the conserved GAPDH sequence to construct a phylogenetic tree and the highly variable spliced leader RNA to assay genetic diversity. All 5 of the species that we examined were infected, and the average prevalence ranged from 1 to 6%. There are several different groups of trypanosomatids, related to other monoxenous Trypanosomatidae. These may represent new trypanosomatid species and were found in different species of European Drosophila from different geographical locations. The detection of a little studied natural pathogen in D. melanogaster and related species provides new opportunities for research into both the Drosophila immune response and the evolution of hosts and parasites.</p

Filchukov   Department of biological and general chemistry, National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya, Ukraine   Abstract   The state of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) system was investigated in the brain of rat under combined hyperhomocysteinemia (HHC) and its correction by betaine, vitamins B6, B9, B12 and trace element complex Esmin. Animals hold 14-days on starch-casein diet with 1% methionine in the absence of vitamins B6, B9, B12 caused increase in homocysteine serum to 12.0 times. Combined HHC induced significant decrease in H2S content and inhibition of H2S-synthesizing enzymes in rat’s brain. Normalization of diet, administration of vitamins B6, B9, B12 and Esmin for 7 days caused a decrease in serum homocysteine and increasing H2S content in rat brain. Betaine administration also decreased HHC and but the effect on H2S system in rat brain was not significant.   Keywords: homocysteine, hydrogen sulfide, enzymes, metabolism, brain, betaine, vitamins, trace element complex

    This article contains a review of two monographs by A.G. Yurchenko. In both monographs Yurchenko explores religious situation in the ulus of Jochi in the 13th–15thcenturies. The author of duologue analyzes the structure of everyday life in the Horde State during the 13th–14th centuries, reflecting the ratio of its religious and administrative bases. Yurchenko comes to a conclusion about the existence of a more complex structure of the Horde society in terms of the confessional and political structure of the ulus of Jochi. According to the arguments presented by Yurchenko, one can conclude that the complex social structure preserved even after the Uzbek’s adoption of Islam. At the same time, the imperial “vertical of power” based on nomadic tradition and corresponding rituals changed slowly and reluctantly. However, at the highest administrative level, among the Horde elite, belonging to the Muslim faith became mandatory, and only this affiliation allowed to occupy senior posts in the State. This status of religious doctrine within the political system can justifiably be called a State ideology or religion of the State. At the same time, aspects highlighted by Yurchenko (a model of nomadic State, where religious institutions are separated from the State, and sacral-religious, philosophical discourses of sources on the history of the Horde) deserves attention and further development. To understand the current of social processes within the ulus of Jochi during the 13th–15th centuries, to get closer to scientific knowledge of the real history of the Horde, one should critically deal with the sources and consider the Horde’s reality through the prism of ideologico-religious and philosophical doctrines of the time, especially, in the Middle Ages. This article provides additional arguments both in favor of conceptual constructions of the author and in their rebuttal as well. Author of the review finds it necessary to carefully and critically deal with information of medieval sources on the history of the Horde, taking into account conclusions proposed by Yurchenko

    MANAGEMENT OF GOVERNEMENT PROCUREMENTS: MODERN PROBLEMS

    No full text
    Opportunism is primarily identified with the policy. However, in the economic sphere is now quite often manifests this concept, which negatively affects the position of the owner of the resource. The opportunism in a prism of economic science is considered in Oliver Uilyamson’s works the Nobel Prize laureate on economy in 2009 with the formulation “for researches in the field of the economic organization”. O. Uilyamson understood as opportunism “following to the interests, including fraudulently, including such obvious forms of deception as lie, theft, fraud here…”. Market relations, this phenomenon does not cause such a violent public backlash, as the market is the market. However, in the field of public participation, namely public procurement market opportunistic behavior of agents is often a public outcry, which requires the development of specific preventive measures. The urgency of this problem is justified considering the constant tightening measures to combat corruption in the state order. In connection with what in this article on the basis of methods of analysis, deduction and systematic approach is considered opportunistic aspect of public procurement in the Russian Federation. The author gives a classification of opportunistic behavior in the current contract system of Russia in accordance with the position of the founder of the concept in economics O.Williamson.The dynamics of the positive economic effect of public procurement market, as well as the dynamics of opportunistic behavior identified by public authorities supervising the observance of the legislation in this area. Proposed focus of reducing the influence of negative trends on the operation of the contract system of the Russian Federation

RESTORATION OF ENDOMETRIAL RECEPTIVITY AND REPRODUCTIVE FUNCTION IN INFERTILE WOMEN WITH excess body weightAND COMPLEX NON-ATYPICAL ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA O. M. Nosenko, S. V. Yurchenko Odessa National Medical University Abstract To date, there are several approaches to the treatment of endometrial hyperplasia, but it is quite unclear which approach provides a higher clinical response with a lower recurrence rate, in addition to preservation and restoration of fertility in infertile women with complex non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia (NEH) and excess body weight. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the restoration of reproductive function in patients with infertility, complex NEH and with excess body weight according to the proposed method. Material and methods. 74 women of reproductive age with complex NEH, infertility and excess body weight were under observation, of which 34 patients of the main group after hysteroscopic resection of the lesion at the first stage of treatment, at the second stage of treatment received gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (aGnRH) and adjuvant therapy with drugs indole-3-carbinol, metformin, fenofibrate for three months, and then at the third stage of treatment dydrogesterone, metformin, a vitamin-mineral complex that included myo-inositol, banaba leaves, extract of 1% corosolic acid, vitamin D3, methylfolate-quatrafolic, chromium for 6 months. 40 patients of the control group after hysteroscopic resection of the lesion at the first stage of treatment were prescribed aGnRH for 3 months in the second stage of treatment, then methylfolate-mvatrafolic for 6 months. Anthropometric data, echometric and morphofunctional characteristics of the endometrium during the expected window of implantation, hormonal profile and levels of peripheral blood lipokines in the dynamics of treatment were studied. Reproductive results were evaluated within a year after the end of treatment. The results. Treatment of complex NEH in the main group led, compared to the control group, to a decrease in body mass index, improvement in echometric and morphofunctional characteristics of the endometrium, its receptivity during the expected window of implantation, hormonal profile and lipokines level in peripheral blood, a decrease in insulin resistance, and an increase in the frequency of pregnancy. Conclusion. The proposed scheme for the treatment of complex NEH in infertile women with excess body weight allowed to improve their reproductive results, is effective and can be recommended for implementation in wide clinical practice. Key words: infertility; complex non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia; excess body weight; body mass index; endometrium; implantation window; endometrial receptivity; pinopodia; implantation molecules; hormones; steroid hormone receptors; lipokines; insulin resistance; hysteroscopy; gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists; metformin; fenofibrate; indole-3-carbinol; myo-inositol; corosolic acid; pregnancy

    ASSIGNMENT OF INFRARED AMMONIA SPECTRA

    Author Institution: Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London, London, WC1E 6BT, UK; Technische Universitat Dresden, Physikalische Chemie, D--01062 Dresden, GermanyGlobal ammonia emissions have more than doubled during the period of industrialisation, largely due to widespread use of intensive agricultural techniques and in particular the use of fertilisers and are are set to double again by 2050. However the ammonia data in the present version of HITRAN is not only missing at key wavelengths, but also have significant problems. HITRAN contains 28~057 14^{14}NH3_3 lines of which some 10~\%\ lack full quantum number assignments. Furthermore 1190 of the assigned lines have demonstrably incorrect assignments (for example are parity forbidden); others have incorrect lower state energies or symmetries leading to incorrect predictions of temperature-dependent spectra. We have undertaken a systematic (re-)analysis of the data in HITRAN. This has been done using both lower state and upper state combination differences starting from a consistent set of lower state energy levels [P. Chen {\it et al}, \textit{J. Mol. Spectrosc.}, {\bf 236}. 116 (2006)] and by using the newly computed variational line list BYTe [S.~N. Yurchenko, R.~J. Barber , and J.~Tennyson, \textit{Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc., in press}, (2011)]. Previous errors and misassignments have been corrected and significant progress is being making new assignments. Comparisons with the BYTe line list suggest that HITRAN is also missing a significant number of important transtions, particular at frequencies above 5000 cm1^{-1}
