Utilizzo di Large Language Models in Domini con Pochi Dati: Una Prospettiva Industriale

    No full text
In recent years, there has been a significant shift toward online job postings and recruitment portals, allowing candidates to easily upload their data and documents—such as resumes and CVs—for specific job vacancies. These platforms have streamlined the application process for candidates but have also made the screening process more time-consuming and labor-intensive for recruiters. For a single job advertisement, the Human Resources (HR) department may receive a large number of applications. Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools have the potential to alleviate this burden, saving valuable HR resources by automating parts of the recruitment process. Specifically, automatic information extraction from text data can expedite recruiters’ tasks by rapidly identifying relevant candidate information, such as personal details, work experience, and education. Additionally, soft skills are a critical component that recruiters assess when screening candidates for a particular job profile. A job profile typically includes desired attributes such as educational background, technical and soft skills, and past roles held. By leveraging NLP, recruiters can more effectively match these qualifications to find the ideal candidate for each position. The primary objective of this thesis is to investigate and improve existing NLP approaches to meet the needs of the industry. We identify several key challenges in this domain, including scarcity of training data, complex information extraction requirements, and a lack of standardized approaches. To address these challenges, we have enhanced data augmentation techniques for complex information scenarios, particularly in low-resource contexts within Human Resource Management. By leveraging advanced NLP techniques, we generated synthetic data that mirrors the structure and nuances of real-world HR datasets, enriching the data where actual examples are limited. This approach not only increased the diversity and volume of training data but also improved the robustness of downstream models in handling complex and varied inputs. Additionally, we utilized recent Large Language Models (LLMs), such as GPT, to automate data annotation tasks, enabling faster and more accurate labeling of HR-specific information. This integration of LLMs has streamlined the annotation process, providing high-quality labeled datasets with minimal manual effort and making it feasible to train more sophisticated models in low-resource domains

Social implications of the Islamisation of General Zia-ul-Haq for Pakistan

    No full text
This study aims to understand the context, patterns, and social implications of Islamisation Zia-ul-Haq in Pakistan. After seizing power, Zia started a manic process of Islamisation. One segment of Pakistani society believes that it has positive impacts, while others believe that it has negative consequences for society. This study investigates this disconcerted debate, and its nature is descriptive and explanatory because it tries to examine the queries of what and why. It is based on the literature review of secondary sources and an analysis of primary data. The thematic analysis model is used for the analysis of data. It was found that the patterns of Zia’s policy regarding state-religion relations were opposite to the vision of the founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The global, strategic, and socio-political contexts of Islamisation were the impulse behind that process. The consequences of this process are of concern, as it brought about extremism, sectarianism, and terrorism and negatively affected the human rights regime, polity, and education system. It is suggested that the state should stop patronising extremists’ narratives, adopt peaceful, mystical interpretations, separate matters of religion from state politics, and promote progressive interpretations and arrangements for a better future for the country

Ipomea hederacea Jacq. (kaladana or ivy leaf morning-glory), a member of the family Convolvulaceae, is used primarily for its seeds and recognized for its medicinal properties, especially in Asian countries. This medicinal herb contains various valuable chemical constituents such as ecdysteriods, steroidal glycosides, aromatic acids, triterpenes, amino acids, organic acids, mineral elements and vitamins. A number of pharmacological properties such as diuretic, anthelmintic, blood purifier, deobstruent, laxative, carminative and anti-inflammatory actions have been ascribed to this plant, besides its use to treat abdominal diseases, fevers, headache and bronchitis. This review focuses on compositional, medicinal and therapeutic properties of this plant, as a potential sources of bioactive molecules for medicinal and nutraceutical applications

Tool support for automating architectural knowledge extraction

    No full text
Development of large projects is a knowledge intensive task. Applying knowledge management techniques to project activities can enhance productivity and reduce risks of failures. However, it has been observed that knowledge management activities suffer from problems such as unavailability of structured information and lack of incentives to put extra efforts for these activities. In this paper, we present a tool that captures architectural knowledge from documents and emails and stores it in more structured manner in knowledge repositories with minimum user intervention, thus minimizing the required amount of effort.Aman-ul-haq, Muhammad Ali Baba

    No full text
The present study was conducted to examine various biological activities of a methanol extract of Agave attenuata leaves. GC-MS analysis of the n-hexane fraction from the extract revealed the presence of 31 compounds, with mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (11.37%), 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid (6.33%), n-docosane (6.30%) and eicosane (6.02%) as the major components. The leaves contained appreciable levels of total phenolic contents (10.541–39.35 GAE, mg/100 g) and total flavonoid contents (43.35–304.8 CE, mg/100 g). The extract and some of its fractions showed moderate antimicrobial effects. Leaves extract and fractions also exhibited a good antioxidant potential when measured by DPPH radical scavenging activity and inhibition of lipid peroxidation assays. The hemolytic effect of the plant was found to be in a range of 1.01%–2.64%. From the present study it is concluded that this plant could be used as a source of natural antioxidants and functional food nutraceutical application

From Digital Skills Profiling to Instructional Design: A Basis for Differentiated Instruction Model

    No full text
Digital skills and their development at an early age are critical determinants of active participation in the information society; however, in developing countries, the digital divide, often attributed to limited access and ineffective use of technology during this formative period, remains a significant challenge. This study aims to measure children's digital skills across foundational domains and proposes a differentiated instruction model to facilitate the development of these essential skills. A quantitative research design was employed to measure digital skills among 198 rural middle school students (grades 6–8). The results revealed a progressive increase in all domains, with mobile skills consistently higher, while creative and safety skills remained comparatively lower. Within the principles of differentiated instruction, a homogeneous clustering approach adjusts content, process, and product to address learners' needs based on readiness and skill levels, offering a framework to mitigate the capability divide in developing countries
