Deformation theory of Cohen-Macaulay approximation
In [22] we established axiomatic parametrised Cohen-Macaulay approximation which in particular was applied to pairs consisting of a finite type flat family of Cohen-Macaulay rings and modules. In this sequel we study the induced maps of deformation functors and deduce properties like smoothness and injectivity under general, mainly cohomological conditions on the module
DEFORMING SYZYGIES OF LIFTABLE MODULES AND GENERALISED KNÖRRER FUNCTORS
Several maps of deformation functors of modules are given which generalise the maps induced by the Knörrer functors. These maps become isomorphisms after introducing linear equations in the target functor. In this manner the obstruction ideal for one module occurs as obstruction ideals for other modules over other rings. In particular we obtain a map to the deformation functor of the maximal Cohen-Macaulay approximation over a quotient ring defined by a regular sequence
DEFORMATION THEORY OF RANK 1 MAXIMAL COHEN-MACAULAY MODULES ON HYPERSURFACE SINGULARITIES AND THE SCANDINAVIAN COMPLEX.
CHANGE OF RINGS IN DEFORMATION THEORY OF MODULES
Given a B-module M and any presentation B=A/J, the obstruction theory of M as B-module is determined by the usual obstruction class oA for deforming M as A-module and a new obstruction class oJ. These two classes give the tool for constructing two obstruction maps which depend on each other and which characterise the hull of the deformation functor. We obtain relations between the obstruction classes by studying a change of rings spectral sequence and by representing certain classes as elements in the Yoneda complex. Calculation of the deformation functor of M as B-module, including the (generalised) Massey products, is thus possible within any A-free 2-presentation of M
Stably reflexive modules and a lemma of Knudsen
In his fundamental work on the stack (M) over bar (g,n) of stable n-pointed genus g curves, Finn F. Knudsen introduced the concept of a stably reflexive module in order to prove a key technical lemma. We propose an alternative definition and generalise the results in his appendix to [21]. Then we give a 'coordinate free' generalisation of his lemma, generalise a construction used in Knudsen's proof concerning versal families of pointed algebras, and show that Knudsen's stabilisation construction works for plane curve singularities. In addition we prove approximation theorems generalising Cohen-Macaulay approximation with stably reflexive modules in flat families. The generalisation is not covered (even in the closed fibres) by the Auslander-Buchweitz axioms.</p

Versality for pairs
For a pair (algebra, module) with equidimensional and isolated singularity we establish the existence of a versal henselian deformation. Obstruction theory in terms of an André-Quillen cohomology for pairs is a central ingredient in the Artin theory used. In particular we give a long exact sequence relating the algebra cohomology and the module cohomology with the cohomology of the pair and define a Kodaira-Spencer class for pairs.publishedVersio
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
