Hydrochus farsicus Hidalgo-Galiana, Jäch & Ribera, 2010, new species
No full textHydrochus farsicus, new species Figs 1–2 Type locality. Sepidan, Province of Fars, Iran. Type material. Holotype (NMW): “ 2 - IRAN Fars, 13.8. 1998 / 6km W Sepidan / rd. Sepidan-Yasuj / brook (Cheshmeh Saran) / leg. Elmi & Fery (# 2098)” and holotype label. Aedeagus glued on the same card. Base of aedeagus slightly damaged. Paratypes (NMW): Two females with the same data as holotype, plus paratype labels. Diagnosis. The only reliable characters to identify this new species are those of the male genitalia (Fig. 2). Other putative morphological characters may be shared with still undescribed, closely related species and are thus not reliable for an unambiguous identification. Description. Habitus as in Fig. 1. Elytra and body appendages brown, except apex of maxillary palpi and base of mandibles darker; head black; pronotum brown with central area darker; surface with light bluish or greenish metallic reflections. Ventral side evenly dark brown, except for head black. Head with deep, coarse evenly distributed punctures, intermixed with smaller punctures with short whitish setae; four small tubercles between eyes. Pronotum elongate, subcylindrical, wider anteriorly; with seven depressions, three anterior, rounder and four posterior, more elongate; lateral posterior depressions smaller, reaching posterior margin of pronotum. Punctation and pubescence as on head. Elytra subparallel-sided, slightly wider posteriorly; with 10 longitudinal striae formed by deep, regularly aligned punctures. Humeral region of elytra prominent. Tibiae with a regular dense row of setae in upper apical part; femora with evenly distributed small setae. Ventral surface covered with short, thick and dense pubescence, surface strongly microrecticulate, cells small and with a shagreen-like aspect. Medial line of ventrites, medial area of metaventrite, and two lateral areas in the metaventrite glabrous or with less dense pubescence. Ventrites with a strong transverse medial ridge, almost forming a carina. Aedeagus as in Fig. 2, 0.98 mm long, 0.3 mm wide; robust, parameres and median lobe asymmetrical: apex of left paramere with an asymmetrical triangular expansion; apex of right paramere sinuated, not expanded. Apex of median lobe expanded, poorly sclerotized, with a small flagellum. Variation. Length 3.2–3.4 mm; maximum width 1.0– 1.3 mm. Without apparent secondary sexual dimorphism. Distribution. Only known from the type locality. Remarks. The morphology of the aedeagus of H. farsicus resembles that of some Iberian species (Hydrochus ibericus Valladares, Díaz & Delgado and H. angusi Valladares), although it may also be related to the group of H. elongatus (Schaller), with a more eastern distribution (Hidalgo-Galiana et al., in preparation). Mart et al. (2009) recorded H. ibericus from Turkey, but unfortunately they did not figure the aedeagus and did not give details of the material used for comparison. Etymology. Remarks. Controlling negative and positive power at the ankle with a soft exosuit
No full textThe soft exosuit is a new approach for applying assistive forces over the wearer's body through load paths configured by the textile architecture. In this paper, we present a body-worn lower-extremity soft exosuit and a new control approach that can independently control the level of assistance that is provided during negative- and positive-power periods at the ankle. The exosuit was designed to create load paths assisting ankle plantarflexion and hip flexion, and the actuation system transmits forces from the motors to the suit via Bowden cables. A load cell and two gyro sensors per leg are used to measure real-time data, and the controller performs position control of the cable on a step-by-step basis with respect to the power delivered to the wearer's ankle by controlling two force parameters, the pretension and the active force. Human subjects testing results demonstrate that the controller is capable of modulating the amount of power delivered to the ankle joint. Also, significant reductions in metabolic rate (11%-15%) were observed, which indicates the potential of the proposed control approach to provide benefit to the wearer during walking

This species was described from “Elisabethpol” [= Ganja (or Ganca), Azerbaijan] (Reitter, 1897). Es recordado por su obra titulada Voz de la naturaleza (1787-1803), compuesta por doce novelas diferentes, que, hasta el momento, han sido analizadas en conjunto, pero no individualmente. A fin de contribuir en la labor de desentrañar cuál es el mérito que el corresponde a cada uno de estos títulos, el presente trabajo se propone analizar el primero de ellos, Lisandro y Rosaura; una novela por sí misma olvidada, pero destacable por lo fantástico, que no tiene antecedentes conocidos en el terreno de la novela española del XVIII. Lo sobrenatural, en concreto, surge a partir de que la divinidad intervenga activamente en los acontecimientos humanos ante el descreimiento materialista de uno de los personajes

No full textIgnacio Garcia Malo is one of the most considerated and recognisced Spanish novelists of 18th century. Althought, he is remembered because his work titled Voz de la naturaleza (1787-1803), which is comprehended about twelve different novels. These pieces, until recently, have been analyzed as a whole, but not individually. To contribute to determinate the value of each text, the present work tries to analyze the first of those novels, Lisandro y Rosaura, a novel forgotten, but remarkable for its use of the fantastic, which doesn't have any known background in Spanish 18th century novel. The supernatural appear from the intervention of divinity in human events in the face of the materialistic disbelief of one of the characters

No full textLos inéditos de Ellacuría sobre el sujeto de la historia, tema tratado por Habermas, en 1972, al tiempo que Ellacuría redactaba la Teología Política, marcan un hito en su producción más autónoma y filosófica, respecto de los grandes maestros: Hegel, Marx, Ernst Bloch y Xavier Zubiri. Superado el reduccionismo idealista, no sólo había que volver a las cosas (Husserl) sino a la realidad (Zubiri) y a la realidad histórica, en su complejo devenir y acontecer (Ellacuría). La respuesta a la cuestión sobre el sujeto de la historia, previo el análisis social de las fuerzas que operan efectivamente, es decisiva para la praxis histórica en su horizonte de futuro. Ellacuría trata de incorporar a la búsqueda filosófica de la verdad, la exigencia política de ir haciendo la verdad en la realidad histórica.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ellacuría's unpublished texts on the subject of the history - a topic Habermas was studying at the time Ellacuría was writing his Political Theology back in 1972- marks a landmark in Ellacuría's more autonomous and philosophical production as far as the great masters (Hegel, Marx, Ernst Bloch and Xavier Zubiri) are concerned. Idealist reductionism surpassed, it was necessary to revisit not just things (Husserl) but reality (Zubiri) and, furthermore, historical reality in its complex evolution (Ellacuría). Answering the question posed by subject of the history (once the analysis of the operating forces had already been dealt with) is a fundamental milestone for historical praxis in a perspective of future. Ellacuría tries to incorporate the political exigency of creating truth within the historical reality to the philosophical quest for truth itself
